Why, because it's the most fun version up to now!
I started playing Civ 1 in 1991 and never stopped till then. I played all other versions, including both "Civ: Call to power" from Activision. And I still return to DOS graphics. Civ 1 is compact, it's coherent. And it's tough. It's a real...
I stopped playing months ago and returned to Civ 4 (Vanilla!), which surpasses Civ 5 by a wide margin. Heck, even a round of Civ 1 on DOSBox once in a while is more enjoying than that poor excuse Firaxis published as a Civ game ...
I'm with Civ since 1991, but beginning with CivCol I stopped...
Since I can decide myself which civ I would buy (and which not) the 3.49 Euro on Steam is a fair price. As Jharii said above - I've spent more on much worse ...
Dale, it's a shame that it seems to be you (among others) doing the job, not the official staff. But I do consider giving your patch a try. Adding these victory conditions has a nice ring to it. :)
Hi!
I consider myself to be a long-time fan of Sid's titles (way back since 1991), but it occured to me that after playing three or four times in the first two weeks after purchasing, Civ4Col ist likely collecting dust on my desk.
The game doesn't just grab my attention.I'm missing a lot...
Y'know, neither the concept of civilizing a planet or colonizing a continent are strictly bound to Sid Meier.
I did enjoy Civiliziation: Call to Power 2 quite more than I did Civ 2 or Civ 3, so there are developers besides Firaxis who might indeed know how to create some interesting games out...
If you want to design, just buy the Spore Lab. It is much more cheaper, and it's the only thing that might interest you for the time to come. The gameplay of the full game really isn't worth it. Neither for hardcore nor for casual gamers.
"You aren’t the Thirteen Colonies declaring for liberty, you’re Rhode Island and Delaware sneaking off in the night."
This about sums up the way you win the WoI. It's a quote from the Gameshark Review, and I have to but totally agree.
It still bugs me. A lot. You have to know in...
If you have to old version, don't buy it. At least not at full price without a decent patch out.
I'm too annoyed by all the missing details and the Beta level game mechanisms that I don't play it until it has been much much more improved. :badcomp:
Huh, I knew they were old, but THAT old ...?! ;)
Most of the changes make a lot of sense to me. Maybe Rolfe could be used to add sugar to the settlements. There isn't hardly any lack of tobacco on the map.
Did anyone give the mod already a try?
Now, if this mod wouldn't be the top winner for causing trouble I don't know which one would.
But you could replace the Arabian (indian) settlements with already built illegal Jewish settlements which would be torn down after the legal border expands. ;)
And the rival nations of Col would be...
What about adding the possibilities of cities loyal to the king splitting from your colony when the liberty bar is beyond 50% in general but some cities have no rebellion movement at all?
This would force a player to keep a general level of independance and not just in the major cities.
So, the...
