Nope. They can try and take it back. Plus they get a new capitol, but the original captols are the ones you need for victory see:

The experience of the treb. aside, it was also only effective because Greg had a screen of infantry protecting it and a nice bottleneck to make it easily defensible. If you neglect the defence or the enemy can attack from any angle then your artillery will be gobbled up by cavalry.
Diplomacy looks like it'll be interesting in Civ V, particularly because of the City State dimension. But I'll probably get distracted from that goal into raining down Giant Death Robot-y doom!

Absolutely. I am continuously amazed by some peoples misery before they've even got to play the game. I'm going to avoid coming on here for a bit once they actually get hold of the game.. Because hopefully I will be too busy playing Civ V :king:
