Kill 1UPT, add city maintenance, and we have a winner

The more I think about it I think that if we can just get rid of 1UPT Civ VI has enormous potential. The building game is really fun...probably the best it's ever been. The governments are great, and religion is pretty good (but could be improved). 1UPT, however, has a few really grating...

    Not enough iron

is it just me, or is iron way too rare? It seems like there's maybe one or two plots per continent....

    Game has no point

Well, I'm about to finish my first game of Civ 6...a conquest victory with France. While many of the annoyances from Civ 5 are gone I feel like the ethos of the game is identical. You can do, or not do, whatever you want...lazily clicking enter for a few hundred turns and then you win. I was...

    Turn 60, three Civs dead

On my first game (as France) it looks like three CPU Civs have already been completely destroyed, presumably by barbarians. Anyone else seen anything like this yet?

Civ 6 is ripe for sliders

One of the things that I'm very excited about for Civ 6 is how culture, science, faith and gold are all somewhat equally important. This makes me wonder: what would it be like to have sliders for them all? I think it would introduce a really interesting granularity into the game. Producing...

    Why is everyone from Sheffield?

Anyone else notice that the economic/domestic adviser lady has a vaguely Sheffieldish accent? Add her to Sean Bean and it's like walkin' thru 'ole int road! I'm sure it is just my own bias, but Sheffield (and Yorkshire in general) is usually not what I think of when I think 'timeless, classy...

Warning when near another Civ's borders is a horrible mechanic

Is it just me or is this one of the worst mechanics to be being carried over from Civ 5? I've never once found it 'fun' in the slightest, much less historical. Wouldn't it be better to instead have the computer start shifting units up to that border if it looks like you're going to attack...

    Why such small empires?

I recently watched the 'religion' play-through and the old fear came back again strong: 'empires' are going to be 4-6 cities max, and that's it. In the Viking game they posted it was 155 turns in and they had three small-ish cities. How on Earth is that an 'empire-building' game!? What is...

    Why amenities and not happiness?

Why did they change 'happiness' to 'amenities'? What was wrong with happiness? Even if they wanted to get rid of happiness I'm really not sure that 'amenities' is the right word. It just feels....cold? Too abstract? (Yes, yes, I know....get off my lawn...)

Is the standard map too small?

I'd read somewhere that Beach wants empires to be bigger than the 4 city wonders of Civ 5....but the maps I've seen still get very cluttered very quickly (largely due to the city states). Should the maps be a little bit bigger to allow Civs to build more than 2-3 decent cities?

    City defence too high?

I must admit, I was never a fan of city defence in Civ 6. It severely lowered the need to actually build a defensive army, which wasn't too fun (it also felt a bit off, since 'defenceless' cities put up astounding resistance against actual armies). I wonder if maybe cities should be (a lot)...

    Ripe for return of sliders?

Watching a few longer gameplay videos it looks like they've done a lot of work to try to balance Gold, Science, Culture and Faith in a way that no Civ has really accomplished before. It make me wonder of the possibilities of reintroducing sliders. I think it would really add substantial depth...

    Civ 2 advisors reunion

Is there any way we could make this happen? Seriously how cool would it be to see the Civ 2 advisors together again at a con or something doing some of their classic lines? I'd pay to see that. No lie.

    Is Civilization forever dead?

I just got the news that Civ 6 is dropping soon and I rushed out to read what I could about it. Wow, talk about underwhelming. Is Civilization forever gone? Are we now stuck with iterations of the abysmal Civ 5 forever? I was hoping that Civ 5 was an aberration....now it looks like I'll...

Windowed mode disallowed, nothinb in .ini!

Dear all, Having a horrible time trying to get windowed mode working again. It has worked fine for YEARS, now it forces me into fullscreen. I reset the setting, exit the game, come bask: still in fullscreen. I tried to edit the .ini file but there is nothing in there! All it says is...

India UA should be changed to boost religion

Does anyone else agree? I always thought their UA was absurd...it's not even really based on anything (yes, India has a large population, but they occupy an enormous expanse of land and have many big cities). Considering the religious importance of India in history something to boost their...

Warning: you cannot release Venetian CS

Found out the hard way that once Venice takes over a CS you cannot free them...they are gone from the game forever. Great. Brilliantly thought-out, as usual....

    Does BNW have language select?

Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up since I get to play tomorrow, but can I choose to play in French, or am I stuck playing in English because I ordered the game off a British site?

Information on BNW too difficult to find

Because I'm outside the US and digital distribution takes longer to reach the rest of the world (apparently) I've been trying to learn about the new civs, what they do, new systems, etc. First I went to the official site. Anything on there? NOPE! A few vague ramblings about 'new civs' and...
