well if you really don't want to win diplomacy in this situation you could buy the min required to prevent a win but not win yourself and then declare war to peace block the ai from winning
if ai were truly playing to win they would dump all their gold into CS and then declare war on you before...
I'm fine with DLC as a business model, there is nothing in it that is inheritantly evil - its economics 101 really
you have a trade off greater total price but you get content sooner:
Those with money and no patience get more content sooner.
The developer gets a reliable income stream...
@zentrive that is terrible advice I have no trouble when I sign open borders with civs, if anything I usually find that this makes them more a little more friendly
also you can use this to tell if the relationship is starting to sour - if they suddenly refuse a straight open border deal then...
I'd like to see some kind of colony mechanism - maybe it could be like founding a city state that starts allied with you...
or instead of founding a regular city you have an option of founding a colony which you don't have direct control over (acts like a puppet) but has reduced...
getting your friends to join the war really helps since we now have the "war against common foe" bonus which really helps cancelling out war monger hate for those civs
also when a civ really hates you they find fault with everything, so they'll tend to call you a warmonger even if you've done...
I think they broke something the ai seems to declare war against multiple targets at the same time - its like it can't make up its mind who it wants to fight
it has nothing to do with good vs fun ai more like unfinished ai
I like that nukes in civ5 are so powerful - nukes are supposed to be
yes - make atomic bombs 50% interceptible like their meant to be, air defence should be a viable counter
the missile silo terrain improvement has merit - must take a direct hit to destory nukes inside, can be build away from...
the only reason I can think of to prefer gpt over gold is to prevent exploits involving sucking all the gpt from an ai to ruin them - iirc you got do that in civ4 by first giving them loans to increase their available gpt and then trading for increased gpt
I've had similar things happen to me from the more like war-like civs:
- alex
- washington
- cathy
- napolean
they are all a tad phyco when you are on the same landmass as them, they seem to declare war on you and everyone around them and then make peace and then declare again
once had...
I seriously doubt the ai goes: if score > me then hate
plenty of times I'm able to keep on good terms with civs and go on to win the game with about double everyone elses score (King level)
its not score that gets you hated its:
killing other civs and general warmongering
killing a CS
buying...
