IMHO The archers and thier uppgrades are strong enough to build even if you loose their promotions, they all give advantage at their time. If they didnt lose them, just think about the extreme turnover for example the chineese: Strong blitz riflemen.

Depend what ranged unit though. If the city is costal, late game works great, just give em a frigate or better and they will just defend (bombard) with it.

Mu biggest joy with this patch is the fix of the scrollfreeze, tried one of my old Huge Terra saves that freezed after just a turn or 2. Working just fine now:)

Huge at epic speed, usually continents but i can use others too.
