I had one game where my ally Tyre was right in between England and Rome, both of whom I was warring against. Both had fairly tightly packed cities with only one city between their capitals and Tyre. Tyre kept capturing and raising the near cities and Rome and England would keep resettling them...
Its a nice start no doubt but I've started to dislike these uber desert starts. Your early strat is very formulaic. Prioritise early religion for DF then rush Petra. If you hit those its game over.
Have you found yourself finishing off more games than before, especially loading up that save in the late game rather than start a new game? How about playing on even when it looks hopeless?

They cant just up the aggression on it own. It would cause civ to Dec in unfavorable circumstances. They'd need to change the amount of gold civs can get after losing some trade routes. Until they do that extra aggression would hurt the ai,turning early wars into all or nothing gambles.
