Ah, that's the one! Good to know I wasn't crazy. Does this just mean that the game will only spawn Military leaders? IIRC the Scientific is bugged anyway in Conquests, so maybe that's not a massive loss.
I've been getting into the game again and wanted to take a crack at a few small edits to scenarios/maps, but there was one question that keeps popping into my head. I seem to recall there was a bug in the original Firaxis editor that affected every file saved by it, but what the bug was escapes...
I was recently relegated to playing vanilla CivIII on my Windows 10 computer because Conquests was running slow (figured out it was compatibility mode) but I noticed a funny bug. Even with the fix to get diplomusic working again under Windows 10, once reaching the industrial age the music for...
It could be very interesting to start with someone new, another challenge for me as I haven't gotten the chance to play any Civ IV (or any Civ at all for that matter) since that last game, but it can definitely be done. The downsides to being busy. Part of me has always wanted to try the Incans...
I have maybe a few nitpicks but only a few major mechanics stand out to me as problematic.
First I hate the way peace vassals affect warfare, primarily wars I am already in. At least for me and my skill level I end up in many unwinnable wars that force me to abandon my goals. I spend an...
So I got the chance to try it with the MGE version and Windows 7, using the original Civ2 songs. My findings were very surprising. I tried it first without installing Civ2UIA, and it worked. However, you cannot pick the music you want to listen to and there are very long periods of silence...
Yeah sorry about that, I didn't realize there was a CIv2 version of the thread or it wouldn't have been derailed like this. Probably need an application that's isolated to ntvdm for it work with 16-bit apps.
Yeah, I only have the original disc that worked with Windows 3.1 and 95, I got it at a street market in Otay Tijuana some time ago. Does that mean that the MGE is a 32-bit application? If you'd like, I can get on a 32-bit install of Windows 7 and download an ISO copy of the MGE and try it out...
Tried with CivNet and same deal. I am using VLC to rip the .ogg files straight from the game disc with the correct file names (track02.ogg ands so on). I can hear the sound effects from the game, but silent music. Again it does not complain about lack of CD anymore.
Was it confirmed that this worked for Civ2? I am having no luck at all. I am using Win2k but I assume XP and 7 will do the same. You will have to open the images to read, my screen is 1440p.
By simply dragging the files as they are, the game will not work anymore. It throws this error, and no...
To my ears they sound different enough that I think they redid the tracks from scratch, for example the Babylonian one is much longer than the short Roland Mt one. It is possible that they were done based on the MIDI files but with a different Roland soundfont. Recently I discovered that if you...
Fantastic! Will look forward to further progress with great anticipation. The only thing that's a bummer with CivNet is that it plays music from CD only; when I play it in a VM I get no music even with the disc inserted because the VM doesn't see RedBook audio. CivWin doesn't have that problem...
Does anyone know if it's possible to install this in CivNet? I would assume not, but I don't have a copy to check the way the texture files are stored compared to CivWin.
Thanks for going into detail with your personal deliberations. This is something that probably does vary on a case-by-case basis, it is interesting to hear an individual's answer. As you mentioned, it is ever-evolving; someone's perspective on what they wish to be called can change probably...
I enjoy this discussion, very amicable so far. I myself with limited knowledge on trans issues on a more personal level (seeing it only through the lens of political strife) can gain from a more humanizing perspective.
If I may put my own question in, however ignorant it may seem. How many...
The patches were separate from the Windows version I believe, but the only way to really know would be to read some of the old threads in this forum. If I recall that options screen at startup was added in a very early patch and did not launch with the original copy. Both vanilla and Complete...
For whatever reason Steam gives the Mac version of BTS its own launcher, so it shows up as two separate games. I have this issue in my played games as well:
This has always been a bit difficult for me to get working with widescreen resolutions; though I am running the Windows version in a VM which is likely to be more cranky. I have to play at 1920x1440 instead of my monitor res of 2560x1440. I have heard of people playing the game on 4K monitors...
I wish I knew, this has always been a curiosity of mine as well. I have not observed any differences in AI performance, but I also do not know the nuances of Civ III's AI enough to notice when things are not quite the same. What I can observe is that without that option checked, the game pegs...
