Daaaaamn that is insanity, congrats on the game! I’ve been trying to pull under 110 on Peter peaceful and it’s starting to seem impossible, it’s amazing that you were able to knock off another 11 from there
Image quality is terrible (mobile shot) but that’s a 118 deity/standard/peaceful science victory on Peter attached
the problem is that the time spent building a spaceport is just too much of a bottleneck, and that setting up a huge faith economy makes buying them pretty easily doable if you go...
lots of good stuff above, so just some general tips:
Don’t hard build your space ports. Buy them with faith or gold via Reyna/moksha (ideal) or chop them in (not as great because you could be using those same chops for the projects but if it’s not a super fast win there’s usually a window where...
Yeah I know not to post non hof games here, that’s why my write ups have always been in other threads, just curious how far things can actually be taken with totally optimal settings + perfect turns, still useful for data. Kinda sad that no matter what we do though pillaging is gonna outshine...
Oooh, might have to jump in on this with the new modes. Seems like corporations is used...do you guys not have an issue accidentally winning culture with that on? I’d prob be playing Peter, spent like 3 months trying to go sub 100 on Babylon without modes and totally killed my desire to play
as...
Gilgabro will always accept friendship the turn you meet him and will almost always accept it up until he denounces you, it’s one of his personal quirks (he appreciates declared friends)
Other ai will also always accept delegations if you fire them off the turn you meet them
That tundra game looks solid, 168 is pretty fast without extra modes. The biggest thing is the number of cities—could be more like 25+ by t100, though it’s fine if some are still on the move. I think in my t124 game I had 30 total by t107, t100 stats around ~600/400
the root problem looks like...
Appreciate the write up! I haven’t pushed one through to the end just yet but I’m somewhere in the same area but a little slower.
I’ve managed ~200 culture per turn or so by t80 by using nan and anta + having the right districts in my ping city but it really doesn’t seem to do all that much...
You guys have any thoughts on how useful the predation promo is for chopping your cities at the end? Obviously fantastic but I’m trying to figure out if those units are better raiding than staying close.
to be more specific, how much of your game is worth bending around horseman to make sure...
Damn I need to restart my Babylon game again, lol. Feels like I’m never going to stop learning stuff about civ. Just figured out you can force end a turn when pantheon pops too, risky if rs goes in 2 but can shave ~ 4 turns of production if you’ve got a settler in queue
Oooh, does that mean Kilwa/amun don’t help either? I really thought I noticed the latter on chops especially but I never checked it so could be wrong there. Guess that means the only relevant non policy/gov/govt boost is hk?
Yeah I ran into the same bottleneck. You think 5 ports? I’m assuming that’s mostly for chopping the 3rd and fourth?
i thiiiink I’ve got a game going where sub100 might be possible but I’m struggling a bit with trying to juggle setting up chop cities v infrastructure v army. Warlords v ancestral...
Yup Russia is pretty unique in that they’re a generalist civ but also top tier at like...almost everything. Definitely top three for culture, science, and religious victories and quite strong at domination but a step below Gran Columbia and company. Perfect civ to learn the game with.
I tend to agree with atex here—it’s hard to overstate the power of getting two free monuments worth of culture early. You could def just build the second but that’s opportunity cost and free stuff in the early game is basically a force multiplier. You’re still losing the ~6 turns worth of...
Reliquaries does do that, but that’s going to be a tough strategy to pull off early on (and weaker besides).
Stonehenge is useless on peter, fairly useless overall in general. Shrines and temples give faith and will speed up how quickly your religion founde but aren’t at all needed early on...
You could settle your second city on the spot where that slinger is if you want to boost sailing, with peter grabbing extra land he might grab those tundra tiles near kilo too. Don’t sweat the sailing stuff, you can build a boat anywhere you see fish on the map.
biggest thing though is you need...
Yuuup, it’s waaaay different with reloading to that extent. Being able to correct mistakes outside of hof is huge but hut reloads are on another level entirely. something like 40 gold then reloading and popping a relic the next turn is a good illustration of how broken it is.
Especially when...
yeah really fun game, work ethic is even better with that new culture cs that gives culture when you finish a building. Babylon though, man. Crazy to think they could go under 100. Totally different game. Have you played them enough to figure out which wonder is ideal for boosting flight? That...
