Hi I also admit I am not a great Civ player (even if I olay since Civ 1...). But here is my tip: the main secret to advance for higher levels is do not overexpand! Just give a try to this strategy: do not build more than 4 cities until you finish all liberty and tradition social policies!

Just swich off animations on video options... simple. The most anoying tinhg to me are the suiciding automated workers when at war. Some of them stupidly go directly to the AI army...

... And keep in mind two more great things concerning Priv´s: 1 - When you upgrade them to destroyer, the new unit keeps the "capture" ability, making it a powerful unit even in the late game. Just get 3 or 4 Privatiers and upgrade them and you easely get the lead on navy. 2 - Destryoers...

In my oppinion I guess that adding the faith factor in the game makes it more impredictable to play, I mean, once your (and AI) choices made in the early beggining afects almost the entire game, the probability of having two similar games is much less. So maybe this is the higgest point of G&K...

As far as I understood from the manual, they reduce the city maintenance cost. It´s simply a must once like that they are more eficient than in Civ3, if you think about the great effect they have in your economy.
