    Great generals for combat units

What else needs building in your military production city? Early on, you need a barracks, granary, and (maybe) monument. Later a forge and Heroic Epic. Then pretty much nothing until the industrial era. Build more units! :crazyeye:

How many work boats to start?

Can't we math this out? Someone stop me if I do it wrong, I don't write these things out often. On epic speed, a worker costs 90 :hammers:, a WB costs 45 :hammers:, and growing costs 33 :food: (I think that number is right?). The capital produces 2/1/9 normally. Lets assume you have a...

The Immortal Challenge 2: For the Fatherland

Harbourboy, If you look at one of the EMCs (I believe 3), the first attempt was a doomed start, and abandoned to a restart. Other than that, it seems to me that aelf and Sisiutil just do rock that much. :)

    The Immortal Challenge 1: Apocalypto

One of the few actual LOL moments I've ever had on the net. You rock

Confessions of the worst Civ player of all time...

Post a save-game after you've developed a game a bit and people can take a look at it =). Remember, for research, cottages cottages cottages. Money is very important in Civ4. If you're having real trouble grasping the easier difficulty levels you may benefit from spending an hour or so...

    Condensed tips for beginners?

Hmmm, not quite. City raider I is 20%, City Raider II is another 25%, and III is another 35%. To get cover you have to go Combat I -> Cover for a 35% general boost against archers (and 10 to everything). If you think you're mostly going to be raiding cities rather than fighting in the open...

    Nuclear Stockpiling

My understanding is that the AI reacts to your power rating and to your overall score. I'm not sure how the power rating is calculated but nuclear weapons are surely included, so having a lot probably will make the AI less likely to attack you. However, ICBMs are rather expensive hammerwise, so...

Advice on War Plans and Axis of Evil (With 10 Screenshots, not dial-up friendly)

Honestly, I think you're in fine position to just win by spacerace if you don't want to try destroying the other civs. You would have to switch over all your production to military units for a while to crack the Greek cities, which is fine if you're intending to win that way, but if you're just...

    Unrecognized install?

When I put my start file up for a check it told me I had an "unrecognized install" for 1.52. I haven't done any modding or file modification on the game at all beyond installing 1.52. What are some possible reasons I'm getting this?

*Yawn* 40 Turns left...sleep is for the weak!

War is always a good way to raise your score if you're so inclined. However, if you want to keep your boys at home, try bribing a friend or two into attacking whoever is building the UN or a bunch of spaceship bits. The AI will deprioritize the ship and build more military units, and you'll...

A weird start? How would you play it

That's a really good thought on managing the barbs, I'll try that in my next game. I don't really feel like moving up to Emperor yet, heh, seeing as I only know how to win SS on any difficulty level. Next up is the cultural. Attached are two later saves if you want to look at them.

A weird start? How would you play it

Hey everyone, I've recently moved up from Prince to Monarch difficulty and it has certainly been an adjustment. Whereas I used to dominate the AI in tech, wonder building, religion founding and pretty much whatever I wanted, I've found Monarch a struggle. Both of the wins I have picked up have...
