I just attempted to make a quick custom mod. Nothing fancy, just a custom tech quote and Civilopedia entry.
I dropped it in the Beyond the Swords Mod folder and started the game up. The mod appeared, loaded, and played. But the custom quotes didn't load with it.
It looks like the XML never...
If not, I would be surprised if no one will. I'd love to see the paintings, musical themes and literary quotes back to back in a video.
...this post is one gigantic "HINT HINT"
As someone who spent a good deal of time creating custom leaderheads in Civilization IV, I'd love a feature in a Civ game that aided modders with a customizable civilization creator.
My idea would work somewhat like the character creator engine in MMORPGs, like the very customizable ones in...
As someone who spent a good deal of time creating custom leaderheads in Civilization IV, I'd love a feature in a Civ game that aided modders with a customizable leader portrait creator.
My idea would work somewhat like the costume creator engine in Champions Online. There would be a set of...
One thing I love about the game is the music - specifically how the composers show off their research and use culturally relevant melodies to base their themes on.
We already know plenty about the main civilization's musical themes, but has anyone tracked down the musical stings for the city...
A while back I made the upgrade to Windows 7 and I noticed something odd.
In mods with new unit graphics, the unit would be displayed with its base art rather than the custom art, until it was clicked. For example, the FfH gorilla is based on the Berserker. In my game the gorilla showed as a...
Apologies if there's already a tutorial thread on this.
I've compressed my art files into an FPK file to save on space, making sure to save the file paths. I've removed the art folder, expecting the FPK file to successfully store the information.
It hasn't worked for some reason. None of...
I'm a bit confused with regards to how the leaderhead artwork is programmed in. In the XML folder for artwork there are three files: CIV4ArtDefines_Leaderhead.xml, CIV4ArtDefines_LeaderheadHiGfx.xml, and CIV4ArtDefines_LeaderheadLoGfx.xml
What's the difference between these are why are three...
I just installed a new unit, and the Team Color appears to be occuring on the entire body. I don't really need Team Color on this unit, so is there a simple way to get rid of it?
I'm trying to add entries to the concept section of the pedia, but I'm having trouble finding the proper python and/or XML files that I would need to edit.
Can anyone help me out?
I noticed that in Fall Further each civ's Hero shows up as a Unique Unit. I looked at the XML for it and I saw that a tag was added to the UnitClass file.
Is there any way to replicate this feature with solely an XML trick?
I've been considering making a 3D animated LH of Liu Bei for my own mod, so I thought I'd consult the resident Three Kingdom experts.
I'm more concerned with conveying the Romanticized idea of Liu Bei than with historical accuracy, so I was thinking about using his appearance in Dynasty...
I can't believe I didn't make this thread sooner!
This thread will cover the 10 religions and 7 corporations currently in the game. The religions and corporations are listed below

I've seen several mods out there that have added a new Civlopedia section for World Units. Is this particularly difficult to do? Would I need to recompile the .dll or can this be done in python?
One of my pet peeves in modding involves installing custom buildings. Specifically the scaling. With the way I'm doing it now it requires a lot of back and forth trial and error.
Is there any effective technique to get a proper scale for your model?
Right now what this mod lacks is manpower. I've been getting plenty of help from Dibukk and johnny139 with pedia entries and therefore the underlying concept for the mod, and The_J has been willing to help with custom python code.
Still, Fictionalization has a lot of areas that need...
