Game Thread: The Life and Times of Atto Ngoogol

As Lo Hwang Halfblood isn't taking the stand this time, I'll attemp to support Millicrescent Asperysm this time, if I haven't passed the limit yet, that is.

Firstly getting close to update time but should be around the end of the hour,

Secondly sorry about any inaccuracies on the midday tally, or if the puzzle was confusing for the wrong reasons, things should be fine with this evening update.

Thirdly there may be several extra nightkills by NPCs tonight because of the triumph of the servants of darkness and good friends of Atto Ngoogol putting the world in a very dark place.

Somehow, Ngoogol had left behind a magic charm that made an image of himself appear as the afternoon sun sank again today. He was dressed in garish orange and blue that made for a truly monstrous visage.

"So tedious, dealing with you wheng I cang engjoy the triumph of evil elsewhere, and you're ngot eveng close, heh heh. Ing the meangtime, I'll enjoy the carngage as the forces of darkness strike againg."

Many members of the party were again prepared for battle however, with tried and true tactics from prior days or past experience, or new alliances formed. Cindy had picked up the Keen Sword but whether it would serve in battle today remained to be seen.

They were also fairly confident in their assessment of magical threats today, Ngoogol after all had perhaps worked his dark magic elsewhere.

So the party wasn't entirely surprised that Ngoogol had sent two of his powerful creatures after them today, most probably couldn't really tell much of a difference between these and other creatures that may have been summoned from other realms, except that they followed the whim of the sorcerer.

Millicrescent wanted to step up and lead the fight today, and her wishes were not denied.



The fight very much resembled the strategy the party used from previous days, striking from all directions and making sure no one person could be trapped within the creature's reach. And once again, they were successful, weakening the creature as it slowed down and seemed to falter as much as anyone's eyes could tell.

Yet the creature seemed to gather up some inner reserve of power, and burned brighter, causing terrible howls of air to gust all around, and tried to take once last victim with it.

Millicrescent was quick enough and strong enough to weather the final attack though, just barely avoided the creature's wrath with the help of some of the minor magical buffs a lot of the party had picked up today before the battle, but looked rather injured

And it felt like something had snapped as best as anyone could call the feeling, as the fire disappated into nothingess, and Ngoogol could trouble them with power over creatures of fire no more. All that remained was an ash-covered, blackened object hat looked like charred wood but was extremely dense and sturdy. The Fire Elemental's Core was picked up by Millicrescent, who seemed a bit concerned and upset about the whole ordeal now, and only asked after the battle with the group what there was to eat tonight.




Brother Emmanuel, on the other hand, bore the brunt of the other creature's attack, somehow caught out of position from the rest of the group so the creature zeroed in on him. He could hardly put up a real fight alone and like others before him, was crushed mercilessly.

Stupid people. Listen to what I have to say. Brother Emmanuel was on the same team as me. He could, as he claimed prevent evil actions. He was preventing Honorious Cummerbund the first night, where there where no attacks or deaths. Last night he did the same thing again on Honorious Cummerbund, and no kills!

I'm lucky they don't know who I am, but now that you know that brother emmanuel is innocent maybe you would think about this guy emmanuel?

Also, congratulations on the slaying of the fire elemental!

If you're telling the truth (who knows, what's the difference between House Kasyn and House Isthria?) you were misled, since Honorius Cummerbund lacks a killing ability. When Emmanuel spouted his last-minute defence, it sounded like a blatant lie.

Notice that the only people killed at night were injured. It sounds like the mafia so far only attacked the injured to avoid putting themselves at risk.

Ok, gotta put a stop to this as some people are legitimately confused. Thought someone would get it or enlighten others but this one was a cruel joke.

There are no "Tigers" in the game, and the bit about extra NPC nightkills was just a tease. Ngoogol was just excited that his many donations of filthy lucre to Auburn boosters paid off.

I'd like to point out that initially I believed that only injured people could be killed but then Verarde was murdered and he was not injured.

Millie, couldn't ya send over the Elemental Core? If it still possesses any evil magic then it must be destroyed to further weaken the Ngoogolian forces.

Morning Six​

While most everyone wanted to sleep tight satisfied with the progress they thought they were making, evidently the night disagreed.

The first bad sign was when Lo Hwang Halfblood complained that someone had tried to poison him, showing off several sharply pointed darts that he crushed beneath his boot but bragging that it didn't work.

Worse, was when the party noticed Millicrescent was missing. She was found with the same spiral cuts all over that reminded them of a death before, her once cheerful countenance now in a look of great pain.



Just for a minute, and nobody quite noticed who looked like they were after what, a lot of folks now seemed quite covetous of the Fire Elemental Core still warm and bright.

Also, Brother Emmanuel had left behind some interesting Smooth Stones with the rest of his gear, whatever they were only the monk once knew, so the party decided to keep one and put it up to vote.

The only promising idea anyone had with more deaths weighing on their thoughts, was to get an early start on preparing more magic for the day.


The wonders of the mind – how it forms associations, pieces together information. The only problem was, all the swirling magic out there seemed chaotic enough to drive one mad, and they would have to do something about that to get at Ngoogol.

Note a couple of special things about this puzzle:

Each player intending to solve the puzzle may ask for, and will receive in private regardless if you ask in private or not, a “hint” on one of the words in the puzzle. If you receive a hint, you may only receive partial credit at best on the puzzle. You are free to share hints with other players just as discussion with any puzzle.

You may start working on the puzzle now if you wish. Again spoiler lengthy discussion.

You still have to declare whether you want to solve the puzzle by Midday for it to count for you. It would also be great if you decide if you want a hint by then, I’ll try to get hints out at any time but a hint at the last minute might not be of much help.
