And here's one for background, in case anyone is interested. There may be several players who knew how to do it but had not run through the actual steps, others might not have even recognized it.
I hope this is not stealing Earthling's thunder -- by all means please do post your own backstory.
Spoiler:
This puzzle is similar to the famous Seven Bridges of Königsberg problem, and I recognized it immediately as such. But I didn't know the method of solving it offhand, since the last time I covered it was in Graph Theory class about 19 years ago. Wikipedia helped there too, in the article on Eulerian Graphs.
The endpoints are the locations that have an odd number of connections. I chose the trading town (5 connections) as the logical starting point. Starting from that point, the solution looks for a (preferably long) walk around the graph, erasing edges as you go, and trying to get back to the same starting point again. Each town visited loses two edges, the incoming and outgoing. We know the trip is possible (courtesy of Euler), so it's just a matter of working out the specifics. In this case the caravans go back to their starting point 2 additional times before making the final leg to the end point. Each location is visited twice. The 2 cycles can be run in reverse order, which means there are multiple solutions.
This was finally going to be it. They'd tracked Ngoogol back to the entrance of a large series of caves, and there was no doubt this was where he'd intended to bunker up as he left elemental guardians right there at the entrance. The party camped for part of the afternoon as far away as they could manage, with lookouts for a few hundred meters around just in case and prepared and discussed there course of action.
The first plan was for the more proficient magic users among them again to set up whatever protection and in some cases offensive spells that they could, and it worked pretty well.
Those living around here figured it out in right in the end. It's a variant of the old Bridges of Koenigsberg (DaveShack found and linked this anyway, but I'll put that here too) problem if you recognized that or wasn't too complex that it couldn't be worked out with some thought anyway even without drawing a graph/exact algorithm to follow.
The answer you all posted here is right, and evidently there are multiple, non-unique solutions then as I had a nontrivially different one, and one of the dead folks I think had a third one that I didn't fully double check but is probably right, so multiple solutions it is.
The one thing you had to do, was either start in Zarensum and end in Tyrune or vice versa, because of the odd number of trade routes. Compared to DaveShack's my possible answer was vice-versa in that sense, but again either way works for our merchant.
Here's another possible solution I believe then, but again I checked yours and that definitely works too
Tyrune to Greatlog to Zarensum to Ondasía to Lanunia to Nowhere to Arvor to Isweld to Hugarak to Perunn to Inner Nortion to Outer Nortion to Perunn to Isweld to Nowhere to Greatlog to Lanunia to Tyrune to Arvor to Hugarak to Inner Nortion to Ondasía to Outer Nortion to Tyrune to Zarensum
Overall hopefully pretty fun, though it looks like everyone didn't take a crack at it but then again folks are busy, weeknight and all irl and that's cool. Again I never really got around to making a full world map, partly because I never had one at the start, many of these locations/concepts are drawn from various player backstories but I felt like this puzzle really worked out pretty well.
Meanwhile items were distributed as almost everyone armed themselves. Anna took the Armor and the Darts and Honorius Cummerbund took the Potion-Making Kit.
There was basically a unanimous decision on how they would organize themselves for the fight, Lo Hwang Halfblood stepping forward and Yarai volunteered unceremoniously.

There was no choice but for the party to press the attack themselves, and so they did, charging towards the creatures at the mouth of the caves.
Spoiler:
Earth Elemental
VS
Lo Hwang Halfblood
This was one fight they knew they could win, with half of the party fully prepped for combat and some of them gaining quite some cohesion as a fighting unit. Still, the creature got some blows in and Anna was injured
This time, when enough of the earthen creature was strewn about and hacked apart, it collapsed entirely to dust, and they knew the Earth Elemental has been defeated, and destroyed
Lo Hwang Halfblood picked up the Earth Elemental Core that remained, looking like a shining white rock.
"No, not exactly a diamond, not sure what it is" Halfblood told them all.
He described how the small object is incredibly heavy, yet doesn't throw him off balance at all, and gathered it up with the rest of his gear as everyone cooled down from the battle.
Spoiler:
Water Elemental
VS
Yarai
Yarai's attack on the other hand, was bold but very dangerous. He lacked the support of really any other warriors as he charged ahead towards the Water Elemental.
"I've had it up to here with this quest so far, these stupid Elementals, and all this flashy, pointless wizard magic. There are far better things in life than trifling with all that, and that means you Ngoogol." He shouted to the air.
Unfortunately, all of Yarai's talents and considerable poise and strength weren't enough alone against a creature of such size, magic or not. He dodged many blows, struck where he could, but eventually the creature smashed him against a wall to fall limp as it seeped away back deeper into the caves.
Spoiler:
Jarrema was Yarai! an Evil-aligned, Half-elf rogue working with the followers of the cruel Orcish god Tangtz!
It was a surprise to find out more about Yarai's allegiances and secret practices, but another welcome surprise was to come as members of the party tentatively felt out what they could about the magic in the air and the tracks they were following.
"Ngoogol is tiring, we'll force him to a final stand here."

Known NPCs: Major Enemy: Water Elemental status: unharmed Strength estimate: 30 something?? Magic Immune?? Atto Ngoogol - Evil Wizard, in the Caves, tired
Major Enemy: Fire Elemental DEFEATED Major Enemy: Earth Elemental DEFEATED.
It looks as though the end is near then. If Atto awaits, but is tired, he may be somewhat weaker than we might expect. I'm guessing Magic Wielder now very much comes into play. So getting the next puzzle is very important, instead of a 2-3 bonus, we could get 6-10 (depending on what rank you're at.)
There was a bit of commotion during the night, nobody could deny that, with so few people left when something begin to move around and others cry out soon everyone was awake, some hours before dawn. However, nobody was able to determine who was a guilty party to anything, except that Honorius Cummerbund was injured and would hardly be fit for combat today.
The party had decided to take a very slow and methodical approach to the morning but it was necessary they'd have to move forward eventually.
"We have to know what we're facing, thoroughly scope out these caves."
"How about we go in groups of two - no, three would be better. Don't anyone dare walk into an ambush, report back to the group as soon as you see anything."
Collectively they figured they could find where they must go by midday and hope not to run into more Elemental creatures before then. So, members of the party set off, always being sure to look ahead with their eyes, ears, and magic as far as they could, and checking back in for discussion when possible.
(there's no limits on posting or private discussion or anything, just flavor here)
There is no puzzle today.
You suspect Ngoogol is preparing for a final showdown and many of you hope to have more than enough magic to continue to combat his creatures. Thusly, from each of yours Magic Wielder promotion level each player will accrue a small magical strength bonus from a formula that divides and rounds off the level.
No new items are up to vote.
It is Now Day Nine
Vote to nominate in bold
support votes in green Two players will be nominated today
Day ends in ~47 hours, Midday in ~23
Also OOC question: We could go to 24 hour Day phases by default starting next day (Day 10) if everyone is ok with that, some might have wanted it
I believe, that we must have TWO supported players.
So, I vote: Grof Mouthbreather, Grof Mouthbreather
I think that we should avoid concentration of items in one hand. So I vote: Keen sword to Otto von Venati Shovel to Grof Mouthbreather Fire Elemental Core to Yarai Potion Kit to Anna Smooth stone to Elvsh Darkfoot
Above are the item votes for Autolycus, and Jarrema, both of whom have been proven to be evil. Now, both give the smooth stone to Elvsh, and they are somewhat split on who to give the shovel to, but Jarrema's vote to Grof, and his support of Grof, shows he knew Grof was evil (which we know is a fact now.)
autolycus voted the shovel to Ceroz Molten. I think there is a good chance that both Elvsh and Ceroz are evil. But since both Grof and Yarai (Autolycus and Jarrema) both voted Elvsh the stone, I will
I can't lend you a hand today, because of my injury, I will however let you fight dcmort. I see you have helped with the Elemental Slaying too.
Nominate : Harold Amal
It is evident that 48 hour days are still very much required, things have been horribly quiet today.
Can someone tell me how to find out the post count for each person in a thread, I just want to see how many posts CivGeneral and TheLastOne have made over the entire thread.
