Actually, Spain isn't really that much more "Socialist" then Israel. Granted, we implement our welfare programs differently, but we still have them. And Mathali still has remnants of Capitalism.
We aren't a Corporate-run country, we are a theocracy first, but we also have a strong gleaner's rights program as described in the Torah.
As for the war, if it came, you wouldn't have to take any side. But in any case, we haven't even completed the three-turn ceasefire treaty with Double A, so starting another war would be annoying.

You can ask but there's a good chance they won't accept. If you create a colony and decide to annex it a turn or two later, that would work. However, Brazentina has been independent since 1956.

Eh? The thing about it is that Socialist Brazentina actually wants to be your vassal and for the most part, sees that has a good deal. It's alive and you get +2 LP for your trouble. This is different for say, the Nation of X, which wants to be independent but accepted to be a protectorate of Spain or face elimination by Spain.
