Revolution IOT

No, I was talking about the prospect of me getting raped and annexed by someone completely different.

If that is the fear, the Soviet Union guarantees Egyptian independence and we urge all the signatories of the Peking Charter to do the same.

The Egyptian Pharoate adopted English Socialism. The Great Qaghanate runs extensive social programs that are rather commendable for a non-communist nation. As for the global hegemon nonsense, that's quite rich coming from a state calling itself the Hegemony. The friendship between us and the Khitans and all of our allies is genuine. A good friend has no reason to fear strong friends, for we support each other.

The Egyptian Pharonate, even when they adopted English Socialism the first time, was running a mutated version in which the Pharaoh still had supreme power. "Egyptian Socialism" is a better word for it.

Then you have the DB Corporation which is clearly ran by a corporation. Not a democracy.

We will not deny that we have quite a considerable influence over world affairs, given our successes, but you can hardly blame us for using that to further economic progress, the people's freedom and world security. In contrast to the Hegemony, we don't have a penchant for waving nuclear weapons in people's faces, or supporting apartheid regimes.

Freedom of choice. Let the states regulate themselves. Foreigners have no right to interfere in domestic policy of other nations like the USSR does to everyone within hitting range.

And the Soviet Union extends the warm friendship we have previously extended to the Western European Union to the new European Republic.

We'll sign on the condition that we're exempt from the Second Article. Europe barely survived three world wars. We won't survive a fourth and therefore, we will not get worked up in a war which will result in our complete destruction. After all, missiles flying from the Bahamas to the USSR will fly over Spain and the European Republic before it ever reaches the USSR and no doubt, if we were to get involved in a war between the Hegemony and the USSR, we will lose no matter.

Spain closes off Gibraltar to all Fascist nations.

if there is a fascist nation allied to the communist cause, tell us.

Hegemony

Thank goodness that all the Fascist nations aren't in the Mediterranean.

Egyptian Socialism, English Socialism... they're not the ideal kinds but we acknowledge that sometimes local solutions are necessary.

Then you have the DB Corporation which is clearly ran by a corporation. Not a democracy.

They are allies of our allies, are very important in world affairs and have shown a willingness to contribute positively.

Says the representative of a state formed upon the forced annexation of a lesser partner.

We respect this. However, remember that there is strength in unity.

To the Hegemony: well, it'll make it harder for you to try to attack inside that sea without having to obliterate half of Spain.

well, it'll make it harder for you to try to attack inside that sea without having to obliterate half of Spain.

It would only take two hydrogen bombs to open up the strait. After that, it becomes a solely naval battle.

you still have to deal with the inevitable Spanish counter attack, and the fact that any invasions to the WEU or beyond may have to pass through Spain itself. since i doubt you'll risk an invasion from the sea. easpically since the other communist nations have much stronger navies. it all adds up.

which reminds me, if a war starts, we are screwed.

Indeed. Does it not cross Juan Carlos's mind that being neutral is a safer option than getting in a power bloc lead by a nation's which has no other goals than cementing its hold over the nations of Eurasia? That if the USSR gets its way and the Peking Alliance goes to war with Hegemony, that Spain and the European Union will be the first to go?

Does it not occur to Spain that our hydrogen bomb arsenal isn't even in infancy anymore? We're going to complete the X-Bomb by 1975 and our hydrogen bomb arsenal is growing every year. Spain, the European Union, Egypt, and Brazentina are nothing else but small players in a coming war between giants which control weapons big enough and in high enough numbers where wiping them out isn't just possible, but easy.

100 LPs a turn. 20 hydrogen bombs a year. By the 1980s, we're talking 200 hydrogen bombs if we're going at full production. That's enough to wipe out the European Republic, Egypt, Spain, and Brazentina with 80 bombs left over. Even at half production and only say, 100 bombs+the ones we have, we could wipe your nations out (though with no remainder of course).

We aren't going to go to war with the USSR. They'll have to come at us but let us say this, is it worthwhile for your nation to honor an alliance that will result in your country being wiped off the face of the Earth? Especially once the theoretical X-Bombs arrive onto the scene?

In this situation, there would be no fear of Spanish retaliation. There wouldn't even be a Spain. The Fourth World War won't be like the Nile War or Mediterranean War. It will last only last one day at most. This is what will happen if one side feels that the balance of power has shifted dramatically to one side.

the Mathalamus Republic Signs the charter.

also, we remind the Greater south African state that they are diplomatically isolated. its only a matter of time before the Fascists or the communists manage to control the area.

GSA is racist and in the... south. You sure you don't mean CAU (ex-Maryland)?

Socialism is my economic policy, the Pharoah is the head of state. They can exist together. Just dig up Stalin. He'll tell you all about it.

Our point exactly. The alliance is about Democracy and Progress as the Jewhad was about religion.

TASS - Stories of 1972

First Man In Space

Man has conquered space. This year, Alexei Leonov became the first man in space. Launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome abroad the Vostok spacecraft, he spent six hours in space and completed a total of three orbits before returning to Earth, parachuting down in the Vostok near Saratov.

Yuri Gagarin followed a few month later in the Vostok II. He spent a full day and a half in space, and although he suffered from what scientists are calling "space sickness" (akin to car sickness) returned to Earth healthy. There was a television camera on board, and his incredible journey was broadcasted live across the Soviet Union.

These amazing achievements would not have been possible but for the determination and talents our engineers, the genius of our scientists, the guidance and organizational skills of the peoples' leaders, the selfless sacrifice and incredible skills of our cosmonauts, and the hard work of Soviet workers and peasants who made this country great. We here at TASS salutes the great Soviet people, and looks forward to more exciting space adventures in the coming years.

Peace In the Mediterranean

Peace has finally been restored in the Middle East and Mediterranean. The Soviet Expeditionary Force arrived home to a heroes' welcome. A massive parade in the Red Square celebrated the victory of the allied forces over the Holy Land, the fascist elements in Egypt and Maryland, and the restoration of a socialist Egypt. The SFRJ, Spain, the Qaghanate, the American Federation and even the DB Corporation were invited to send dignitaries and their own soldiers to the march, and in the spirit of reconciliation an Egyptian delegation was also invited to participate. The celebrations continued around the country for a week.

Two new republics were admitted to the Union, the Mediterranean Federated Soviet Republic (MFSR), a federated soviet republic consisting of four autonomous soviet republics of Crete, Cyprus, Malta and Rhodes, and the Libyan Soviet Republic, in what was Marylander Libya.

First Soviet Hydrogen Bomb

The Soviet Union once again demonstrated its military and scientific supremacy by exploding its first thermonuclear devices in Novaya Zemlya. Concurrent to the development of the nuclear program the Soviet Union has also developed new delivery systems, including new long-range bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

The Soviet Union reiterates its "no first use" principle: the Soviet Union will not be the first to use nuclear weaponry in any war or engagement.

Someone's getting their RP bonus this year.

On another note, I'll lazily state that the Hegemony has finally started launching satellites but are clearly at the disadvantage and over a decade behind the USSR in rocket technology.

We Khitan can't help but point out that it would be surprising for the Hegemony to avoid attacking the Soviets first if war broke out. In a similar vein, enough bombs to wipe out the armies of the Soviet allies would of course offer no great advantage with the Soviet armies and arsenal still standing.

However, the Hegemony has greatly worried the Khitan by flexing their ability to develop an even deadlier nuclear bomb. The possibility of this fearsome technology in Soviet or Hegemony hands does not sit well with the Great Qaghanate of White and High. To this end, we would like to know the international opinion on the following: Should the Hegemon and USSR sign a treaty promising to abandon further research into nuclear weapons?

we tried to be neutral. i just get too worked up. and yes i am aware that we will eb the first to go.

the Spanish senate is still debating on the practical applications of neutrality and whether it is worth getting the Soviets pissed off at us. dont worry, neutrality is what we are best at.

yes yes, were tiny compared to you, ntohign bit ants, blah blah blah. we know this.

you ahve a nice point sir. that point will be aded in the Neutrality Dispute.

another good point. added to the neutrality dispute. but... i am fairly sure the Soviet union will reinstate the Spanish Republic, if i have enough sense to flee the country beforehand.

In this situation, there would be no fear of Spanish retaliation. There wouldn't even be a Spain. The Fourth World War won't be like the Nile War or Mediterranean War. so no matter what happens, the communists will lose?

If there was a balance of power, we would gratefully sign such a promise. The problem is that, even now, things are still shifted heavily in the USSR's favor. Though maybe it is time for some kind of peace that isn't cold. We're torn on the issue.

@Math

The X-Bomb guarantees the target province is turned into a wasteland and that there's a 20% chance in each neighboring territory of also becoming wasteland. A mass hydrogen bomb salvo can achieve the same effect. The USSR could reinstate Spain....ten years after the fallout settles and the wastelands become survivable again.

oh dear...

the Soviets will bomb out of existence if we try to withdraw from the Peking Pct... and you'll bomb us if we stay.

why cant anything be easy...

We'll only bomb you if you declare war on you. Our survival relies on first-strike and second-strike capability. Though, the Soviets aren't going to nuke Spain just because they don't sing the silly charter.

We will pledge not to develop X-Bombs if all the other nations do so, but we will continue to construct H-Bombs until there is global nuclear disarmament.

We're not going to be "pissed off" at Spain for choosing neutrality. However, the Peking Charter is the best assurance against fascist aggression and world dominance, and as we said to the European Republic representatives, there is strength in unity. It'd be good to have you on board.
