NOTW XXXIX: Impending Retribution Game Thread

We old people have trouble remembering stuff and making connections, so let me sum up what I understood and please tell me where I'm wrong.

Why honey I'm sure you do just fine.

-Last night, CCrunner, Camikaze and Earthling were in the Brig.
-During the night there was one saboteur action (galley), five repair actions and no kills.

And two compartments damaged by mines, and quite probably another bomb planted to go off tonight. But yes.

-Rhawn interrogated Camikaze and he's a killer ?
-Zack attacked Rhawn but Rhawn killed the rogue in self defence.
-Either zack attacked him with his silenced pistol OR with the officer's sword bestowed by his rank ability (but there's no sign of said sword).

Who told you about a sword?

Zack had a monkey wrench (+1 to repairs), he gave it to me during day 7, totally out of the blue, apparently on orders from someone else. This was the first and only time we had any contact.
- Since I had no use of it I passed it along to someone I trust at the end of day 7.

Those were my orders, as I mentioned to you in private. When Zack was promoted to the position he held at death, I contacted him and asked if he could still do repairs. He said no, so I suggested it go to you instead, and he complied.

From this, if my understanding is correct, at least one of the guys in the brig last night is either rogue/saboteur (I'd say rogue because of the lack of direct kills).

I think probably Zack was elected to perform last night's kill *because* the person who was usually doing the wet work was locked up. That is, I am fairly confident that Camikaze is also a rogue. Zack had spent two nights doing repairs prior to his promotion, probably in order to look useful and to be excluded as a potential killer for those nights (he volunteered to take the monkey wrench).

People that were in contact with Zack (the one that promoted him, and the one that managed the item transfer) are getting black marks in my book. Of course they could have been manipulated... But the suspicion is there.

Fair enough.

And finally, where is our Captain when we desperately need him the most ? And by the way, people getting caught up by real life issues and going AWOL may also explain the lack of kills... Just saying.

I doubt it, but I won't speak for Captain Methos; that's his job. Suffice it to say that there are far better suspects than him. (OOC: The last I heard he had been taking care of his sick wife for a couple of days; he's almost certainly come down with the same thing since. I heard you on the frustration though; we do need him. I hope he's all right and wish he'd come back.)

Sorry, Ms. Katie, there are some mistakes here that I see no point in leaving uncorrected.

No, you haven't. You've claimed a repair ability which is a rank ability; all you've done is been vague and uncertain. You could be doing anything as your personal ability, unless your only personal ability you claim was with the Nuclear Reactor, but that's still terribly suspicious and a copy of what Nictel's job actually was.

Being able to repair due to being CWO is a rank ability, but *actually doing repair* counts as use of a personal ability. (I've checked with everyone who's ever held the position, to confirm this.) So CCRunner did take up his personal ability slot for the nights he was repairing, for whatever that's worth.

If you're Innocent you clearly have nothing to lose by cooperating, I'm just saying, otherwise you will die by sunup tomorrow. That's final.

I do think we (so it'll be me, because again others have been unwilling to be public leaders in the right way) owe the crew some explanations.

1) Zack had a tool, that disappeared as he didn't have it when he died. Methos gave it to him from a crate. I don't think that makes Methos guilty, it was too early and Zack probably just said he did repairs. But we're missing a tool I believe.

No, it's accounted for, happily.

2) Zack was responsible for repairing the missile systems. Anyone else involved looks Innocent, but Zack of course was a Rogue, refused to repair the Aegis BEFORE we got attacked, and then silently worked his way in to get both the Aegis and the offensive missile systems activated (which the rogues probably desperately want).

This is an overstatement. Not that it matters, but Zack never claimed to be able to repair the Aegis. He had the motherboard, and he contacted Captain Methos about that on the second day of this crisis. It was transferred that same day to the person who did do the repair; unfortunately, it took two nights and the second of those was the party, which triggered the next day's missile attack. The rogues may or may not have an interest in having a working Aegis system (beyond just not getting sunk before they can take over the ship). It could be that they do, or it could just be that Zack meant to use the motherboard offer as his means of looking useful, similar to his offer to do repairs. It did work to some extent. We are very fortunate that the person who attacked rhawn was not someone who was under immediate suspicion.

Hope that clears some things up for the crew as the above issues were lingering out there.

Also, I'll have nothing to do tonight, a promotion couldn't hurt also as I don't like we have inactive sailors (ie. Niklas, TheLastOne, etc...) in repair positions as Chief Warrant Officers. Or I could take the pistol, I'll put myself forward for that for now.

I believe that rhawn should have the pistol. As spoils, as was suggested.

I'm not sure why the Engine Room wasn't steeled up if that's what the steel does but hopefully we can still do that tonight.

We need an arc welder.

Actually, the fact that unless I missed something we went from two saboteurs, to one,

Not necessarily, hon. Someone coulda planted a bomb.

rhawn for the pistol sounds fine. Camikaze is looking a lot like a rogue, I agree.

I'm disappointed we had a claymore placed somewhere that could need immediate repairs, can't be the Engine room I'd think right? And I'm not at all confident we could get rid of that just by sending someone first? (probably won't work that way, unfortunately, at best a random chance of hitting people going to that room is likely, unless someone could specifically go defuse it or something).

Okay, you've convinced me... But just marginally.

CCrunner Camikaze.

End Morning Phase Eight, Start Midday Phase Eight

Journal Entry Number Twenty-Three. 13:00 shipboard time.

The ship continued to plod along at fifty percent power due to the damage sustained from the mines the night prior. With the ship unable to turn well enough to zig-zag, the Impending Retribution maintained a steady straight course to her destination. For most of the day the ship traveled without incident but once again as the sun got closer to its highest point in the sky disaster struck.

A geyser of water erupted off of the port bow, causing the whole ship to shudder violently and knocking everyone off of their feet. Crews went below decks to find the Magazine in trouble from the explosion. Fortunately, the high-explosive ordnance did not detonate from the blast, but still the room was substantially damaged.

With the fires under control, attention turned back to the execution matter at hand. The masses were initially quick to condemn CCRunner again, but once word was spread of Camikaze’s alleged murderous past, the crew flipped their pressure onto him. Despite the lessons learned from Darth Caesar’s death, the crew overwhelmingly supported his execution but with plenty of time still remaining, there was still a chance the vote could be changed.

Some of the crew felt giving rhawn the Silenced Pistol as ‘spoils’ of the kill. Others still hoped the weapon could be turned against the Rogues originally bearing it and wanted it for their own use. With the vote still fairly close, it was still anyone’s game.

Silenced Pistol:

rhawn: 5
Seon: 1
Ekolite: 1

Voting Still Open.

Quick Notes:
  • No Promotions to report.
  • Damage Report: Magazine damaged to 60%.
  • Over/Under Number is 4.

Deadline for all voting is 23 hours from this post!

I'd already voted the pistol to rhawn, BL.

People, if we continue to let Ekolite slide by unnoticed he'll just quietly join a bandwaggon next day and so on. Curiously enough, he was voting to divert attention from Camikaze.

Who's the person in charge of the magazine?

Today's evidence is too strong Takhisis; Camikaze to death

Sure I'll take the pistol. I would like to hear something from Camikaze. I know he's been around there's no excuse for remaining completely silent.

So you're all going on the word of something with a history of false positives. Right. I don't know what I can do to explain rhawn's result, other than to refute it. Interesting how people think I'm the killer when Zack had the silenced pistol. It seems pretty obvious to me that either Earthling is guilty or the rogues were attempting to frame both Earthling and myself by trying to kill off rhawn and it backfired on them. I think we should let our doctor Seon have the pistol.

That was so scummy that it wasn't even funny.

Time to join Zack :ar15:

Too true. Our friend the Kraken doesn't take kindly to algal blooms.

So you're saying you haven't killed anyone. You have no means to kill anyone? You don't have a goal to see someone specific dead? If I'm wrong again I'm sorry but I don't see why my scan would be giving false positives.

If someone wants to fix the magazine I can provide them access.

Frozen- the Electrical Room is damaged. You don't need a key to fix anything.

rhawn for the pistol then.

Let's try and make things more even in the execution vote. CCRunner should hang!
