i think the zulu's aren't too bad tech wise. generally hopelessly civs like the Zulus get vassalized and gifted loads of techs. i have bigger fish to fry anyway

What! How could you say that? Canada is a proud member of the Commonwealth and a former member of the colonies. We were the ones who remained loyal to Parliament, lords and Senate when those Americans wrongfully uprised against the British government (The life expentancy and rights and freedoms were higher in BNA then anywhere else in the world, yet they were unsatisfied and wanted more.)

there is quite a large English speaking population along the east coast as those city's have been either English or American at some points but this is only a second language.

question did you ever steal techs from America in wb?

no, i got to about 1900 and then i think whatever disadvantage i had from being a native civ lifted. after that i almost caught up with every one (but not quite).

its called isolationist. foreign trade yields a tech bonus, so have multiple people now with open borders would have given you a slight tech boost
