NIGHT TWO
Once again it was a surprisingly quiet night for Springfield, as far as any citizens would care to admit. If there were a few stirring up trouble or going about anything secretly, no direct evidence of it was obvious in the morning as nobody else was attacked or arrested. The police were quick to suggest that their continual presence on the streets was helping Innocent citizens sleep safe.
There might have been some consequences to this, however, as some of the local media would note the next day in complaints and objections. No additional veteran police officers were tasked to patrol the already-overflowing prison, only lazy night watchmen were on duty.
One prisoner had prepared for this opportunity.
He wouldn't let his emotions get to him, but what he had really had enough of, what he had grown to hate, was the singing. One guard in particular could be found at night poorly imitating tunes on the radio, echoing throughout the building as the inmates tried to sleep. This same racket happened to distract anyone from the sound of a man picking his cell lock and rapidly making his way to the walls of the compound.
In the morning the guards found only a standard issue blanket used to assist in scaling the outer fence.
BSmith1068 had escaped, and had no intention of being behind bars again anytime soon.

In outer space above an alien world, there had been a momentous struggle. A cruel-looking creature with white scales beheld the defiant rebel leader in front of him, outlined against the planet below. With a wicked laugh it summoned a giant ball of energy and hurtled it at the rebels.
The fighter shouted a final statement of resistance:
"My son lives on..."

A continued sense of unease was present in the morning as more debate was sure to unfold. By no means were citizens sure of their safety despite their seeming fortune over the past couple of nights.
In particular, hushed talks often turned in one direction, as many people would express frustrations built up over long periods of time.
Several citizens suggested that Springfield's increased criminal problems were because of illegal immigrants, though others contended it was not so.
A vote was authorized for final approval of Proposition 24, which would provide the legal leeway necessary to pursue the issue.
Finally, there was news of a special commercial promotion that suited Springfield’s unique tastes and might provide a distraction from darker matters. A sample
Three-Pack of Buzz Cola would be given out to one lucky citizen.
With these decisions to make and the whims of the lynch mob once again unforseeable, another long day began.
