Mafia Hosting Queue

So, is your DBZ game happening or not, and should it still be in the queue?

kill fire and I would like to claim July 2012 for TF2 Mafia.

Since you already have a spot on the calendar, you can only claim July for TF2 Mafia if kill fire is the main host (and you're just a minor GM).

Two large Team Fortress 2 games. Hmm.

Imma talk with Choxorn and see how similar, or different, our games our, and see what could be done to make them different.

He is the main host, who came up with the main ideas for the game and much more of it than I did, I'm just helping him with it, so yeah, I'm the minor GM.

So the calendar, having only one large game per month, doesn't count the ongoing NOTW game right?

Cause one large game per month is harsh. The ORG has two, and sometimes it feels not enough when you die early.

But you get one Large NotW as well as one large (usually themed) Mafia plus a mini-NotW and a mini-Mafia.

Yay, double ninja! :ninja: :ninja:

I think the queue has only ever been for mafia, not NOTW. And it's more of a suggestion.

ie. the standard practice has been to have a NOTW, a large mafia, and a small mafia running concurrently at all times.

Yeah, never counted NOTW. NOTW and mini-NOTW seem to have a pretty good setup to me, at least how they theoretically work.

Though I've never been for the hard limits we have here really, on small games you even get different sets of players anyway. Doubly so when people play several more games offsite and complain that two games going on at once here on CFC would be too much time, doesn't even make sense.

However we don't have a lot of activity these days so that it could get tough to fill up games, so it's worth a shot seeing how the new queue works for a while. Better than not having a calendar at least and people just jumping in, that got kinda disorganized.

So I have a question about games based on TV shows.

For anyone who's hosted one: Do you base it on the first season or the last season or what?

I'm scrapping Divine Intervention (sort of) and A Villain's Paradise. The former because I'm revamping that series, and the latter because the premise has been done before, and I just couldn't find a way to make it work to my satisfaction.

(On a side note, I was planning on hosting a Star Wars/LOTR mash-up game in the February slot based heavily on wideyedwanderer's Legend of Zelda's game mechanics, but it just seemed hackneyed. Besides, I really want to get started on this new trilogy, and I'm excited about finally hosting games with an actual storyline, which the Star Wars/LOTR game would have been seriously lacking.)

Instead, my next three large games will be a trilogy, starting with the following game.

Dakalam I -- Unnamed

Host: Zack
Type of Game: Large
Preferred calendar slot: My February slot
Number of Players: Unknown, most likely in the 30 - 40 range
First time host: No
Progress: 20%

High Priest Kurizhen informs the people that because of their wickedness, God has demanded that one person is sacrificed every day, to be voted on each day. In addition, God has commanded a small group of individuals to slowly eradicate the rest of the people by night. Kurizhen then declares that God has told him that should the people successfully eliminate the killers (the mafia), they will regain his favor, and the sacrifices will be allowed to come to an end. If they aren’t successful, they will all be killed.

(The game takes place in a fantasy setting, and don't worry -- there will be twists, turns, and surprises galore. I pinkie-promise you that it will be a-w-e-s-o-m-e, and hopefully get you in the mood for the hopefully epic feel of the Dakalam trilogy.)

EDIT: Also, very story-driven.

EDIT2: I'm also contemplating implementing a character creation mechanic, similar to what was seen in Atto Ngoogol.

I would love you!

Moving Dakalam to NOTW. :p

Star Wars/Lord of the Rings MASH-UP

Real, non-lame title soon to come

Host: Zack
Type of Game: Large
Preferred calendar slot: My February slot
Number of Players: 40
First time host: No
Progress: 25%

A game setup very similar to wideyedwanderer/remake20's Legend of Zelda game, obviously featuring prominent Star Wars and LOTR characters.

I know I am not announcing a Mafia, but this was the only appropriate place to post it so...

I think that Zack needs to push the Mafia queue down one month. There is NO way that the Simpsons Mafia is going to finish before October.

:D

And you grin because…?

I think several people got discouraged and left anyway.

Either after we've got a good part of Simpsons done, or after Capo finishes and stops holding all our players hostage, let's redo the queue a bit.

If we do this, I've changed my game to something totally non-tf2, and it's place holder title is In Production.

Putting this in the mafia queue because dammit, I am going to host this one day I swear it. I just need time. And by time I mean, 'a job, and some idea of where I will be living for the next year or so'.

It's more mafia than NotW so it goes here instead of there.

Spoiler :
Ach, I truly am in ein Pickle now, thought Hans Stereotyp, as he wheeled his way past the buffet tables.

This is not the story of Hans Stereotyp, although his story is worth telling. It is the story of a young man, tragically born Dutch; a man who knew from childhood that he did not fit in; a man who secretly longed not for the garish orange vulgarity of his peers, but for the comforting austerity of the ancient enemy – that is to say, Germany. Insidious Germanity blighted his veins, seared his mind; until one day, shunned by those whom in other circumstances he would have called his partners and lovers also, he strapped himself to his cylindrical frame and just rolled, rolled so far away.

But to have traded the free-spirited life of a Dutchman for the carnival fabulousness of the Cirque du Violence? Sometimes he felt that he was merely going in circles. But such is the life of the wheel gymnast.

One hand grasping the frame, the other autonomously sifting through a tray of cocktail sausages, he considered his position. The enclosed space made it somewhat tricky to get around, although he reckoned that, if cornered, he could slam his wheel into the back wall, causing it to ricochet back in the direction of his pursuer. From there, one hefty kick could cause serious damage to an opponent’s jaw. Of course, it didn’t help that all these damn tables were in the way. He had originally scoffed at the choice of arena, thinking it pure gluttony, but now he was sure that she had engineered this specifically to hinder his movement.

In any other situation he might have appreciated her ingenuity, but right now he just felt annoyed. Mostly at himself, for being so easily bested by unimportant clutter. So inefficient. So un-German.

A cloud moved across the sun. Nervously running his fingers through his mullet, Hans cursed the singularity of his situation. He doubted that even he could hide successfully in such a tiny room. How was someone of her size managing to evade his view?

It made no sense. Because the room was so, so tiny. And the blinds were so, so closed.

A cloud?

Perhaps a true German would have come to the conclusion Hans reached oh-so-fractionally earlier. Maybe that would have saved him. But I suppose you can’t deny your identity forever, and probably so did Hans, as the fat lady finished her descent, alighting upon the poor gymnast with a sickening crunch, and compressing him and his wheelframe into one terrible, splayed amalgam.

Snakes and Foxes: The (second) Greatest Show On Earth!

Host: Catharsis
Type of Game: Large
Preferred calendar slot: Don't put me on the calendar yet please, I can't commit to anything
Number of Players: 36
First time host: Of Snakes and Foxes? Yes.
Progress: Role PMs are done. Opening story is done. Rules post is done. Fight result calculation spreadsheet has been made. I just need to put together some stuff for the mafia, make spreadsheets for score, items, betting, and gold total, and probably some other gubbins that I've forgotten. But as I said, time is the constraint.
