Absolution 4: Tabula Rasa

To: Satura

The Warlord of Sudan sat at the table of the great King.

"If you wish to speak of the problems with my civilization, I have much to say on that subject.

"My predecessor did not have the vision to protect her people, I took the initiative to build our army and when she refused to see the problems of our situation I replaced her.

"But I continue to face opposition from these 'Nubians' who claim that their's is the true right to my throne. It does not matter, either way, they simply want to return us to vicious and pointless civil war. They have been exiled from Sudan, but I pray, do not give them solace in Satura, I fear that they will only plot against me and you alike.

"I shall send my traders to your land at once, but having travelled this path myself I must recommend that one of us build roads to help prevent our traders from getting lost or beset by bandits."

Diplomacy from a different perspective

..."No, my Shaman. We know for fact now it is not the first, nor the last of these caravaneers."

Why must this always happen on the days I have my headaches.

The Shaman* rested back in his large ochre throne. Doubtless the labor of a dozen slaves, over a dozen weeks, in its elaborate design; he did not know.

He sighed heavily, his eyes closed in painful thought. "Bring me the Caraven boy you mentioned. Let me hear his message aloud, from his tongue."

Maybe the headaches are the symptom, not the other way around.

The neuter left the altar room to fetch the messenger. It was a scrawny thing, no doubt raised off the desert reeds and what scrub they could find. A worthless piece of trash.

"Speak," he spake.

With a barely-concealed tremble to his voice, the boy-sized man began.

"We are nomad traders, and we wish to begin a proper route,"

He began. Traders. More probably migrants wanting free passage through my lands.

"To carry the glorious trade goods and luxuries of the Nule to that of far off places, beyond worthless deserts and small hills, hoping to find a place to pillage among the barbarians of the East."

Now this is more to my liking. I may let him live yet.

"We realize that we cannot do this without the glorious intervention of the Shamans of Zullappi to protect us from our strong (but comparatively with you, very weak) enemies, and request pardon of passage through your most glorious and lush lands, as the Mighty Nule flows."

Maybe the boy knows how to work a ruler. Hah. Or maybe he just knows proper respect for his superiors.

"From there, and after we have attempted and failed to sell our worthless wares to your high-class citizenship and their lowly slaves who even then are wary of our smell, we shall begin to seek out new markets in the wastelands that exist beyond your borders to the East, and along our route many slaves and exotic animals will flow."

This is all very well. Perhaps my reputation has shone farther than I had thought. My headache is gone. Perhaps I shall allow these weasels through afterall.

"Is this permissable to you, O Hallowed Few, Knowers of Dreams and Learners of Fates, Shamans of the Nule, Emperors of Zulappi and Kings of All?"

What a tale this boy has woven for me, and rightly so. Indeed.

"Return when I beckon, desert thing, and I will divulge my judgement unto you then. Return when I beckon, worthless scum, and all will become known to you that I permit to be known."

The caravaneer crawled backwards out of the great stone doors of his altar room.

"Slave, bring me some fermented grain. Add a fruit or two to it. Also, in two flood day's time, cut out the caravaneer's tongue and replace it with gold, to let him and his people know that their proposed trade routes have become acceptable to us, at the River's beckon.

*Which for some time now had not had to go by names. The breed of Shamans of old had all but died out, replaced by the few, the powerful, and the nameless.

To: Caravaneers

You are welcome in our lands and will receive the fullest protection that our armies can suffer you, for as long as you remain profitable to the Zullappi and do not cause trouble beyond the drunken brawls you are so prone to befall to.

And so, the Warlord Spoke.

And so, Gideon responded, eyes glinting like the gold on his brow.

Of leadership, you are not lacking. Only a strong visionary hand bring a nation from civil war intact.

Of society, I see no problem as well. Only a strong people can band together against the ceaseless countryside in civilization.

My dear friend, you need to develop a common History, a tale for your people to stand behind, something that makes Sudan unique and memorable. Is it just spice? Or is it Old Spice? Must the Spice flow? Is it just surviving among the barbarians, or is it civilizing them, pushing them back, or even just pacifying them with your culture?

And you need citizens. People who will follow Sudan because of the IDEA of Sudan, and not just your leadership. One day, we will all be gone, and our nations may or may not survive. You need citizens, people who live for their civilization; DIE for their civilization, to preserve your legacy.

As for my civilization, there are many problems as well, which I will denign to speak within these chambers.

For the Nubian Seperationalists, all I can say is that we live on toleration and deals in Satura. Although any known enemy of your state will be prevented entry, generations will come and go. We don't have the power to know all the bloodlines of every exile. WE can only promise that the most callous, trouble-making and deviant Nubians, like other callous troublemaking and deviant souls, will be exiled from Satura.

I will send... Pharon and the Clerics to view your return, the first trade caravan, and help escort the return of your spice. Roads seem to be of excellent taste, but how to utilize them further than by foot or by livestock is yet beyond me. We will look further on these and future matters.

Well met, Warlord of Sudan. Let us retire to an evening of merrymaking and drink.

Hey,

King Shushi & the Nomad Hi Nuko. (culture/challenge response)

King Shushi smiled at the Nomad leader, Hi Nuko who was seated across the low finely crafted table. The meeting had taken place in a small meadow beside the Dragon's Lake. "Then it is agreed?"

"It is agreed my King." Hi Nuko smile was larger then the Kings. He had brought his people to a peaceful & prosperous home. The King had been open about his feeling on taking in the wanderers. For their sworn loyality & teaching the ways of nomad wisdom to any that wished to learn. Which Hi Nuko had been assured would be many people. The nomads would be given a home, friendship, food & safety. They would learn the ways of the Dragon. His freely given knowledge.

There was no more need to fear the wild beasts, foul spirits and savage bandit tribes of the world. His people ould be honored as was to make ties with the villages families as soon as can be arranged. Many youth would be married into the village this coming year.

"But there is one thing that I would request personally from you King Shushi." Hi Nuko's face turned serious.

"With such a look of seriousness." King Shushi said slowly with much interest. "How could I not but accept any request from you my friend."

Hi Nuko looked around to make sure no one but the King heard him. "You must teach me this "swimming". He then laughed merrily.

Cyrun and Pharon watched as the workers slowly pulled the Obelisk into place. Wooden rollers were crucial in moving the massive blocks of stone, and it took gangs of well-paid men all the way from Satura to slowly carve out and drag each and every block. This was to be the third obelisk of a set, but already the project is behind.

On another obelisk, workers slowly attached the golden sheets, inscribed with magical pictograms, onto the rough surface of the stone with a layer of gooey clay. Under the Golden Sun, the clay will dry and bond the gold onto the rock.

In the center, slighty off set, there was being dug a tomb. Slabs of rock and slag were prepared to be poured over the casket once...

"Greetings" spoke Gideon, catching Cyrun off guard, "How's the work going?"

The two Clerics bowed. "Greetings, King Gideon the Golden Handed". They were about to speak more titles when the man waved them away. Shrugging, Pharon, the younger, continued, "It is as you said, Gideon. Even as the Fingers of Aset are placed, the earth stabilizes."

"Even as gold is dug, I weaken his tomb" muttered Gideon. Speaking louder, he asked the two religious men directly "How much longer will it take?"

"The Great Obelisk? The carving itself will take ten seasons!"

"Much too long! I must pay my debt before I die, before we dig ourselves into a deeper hole." The king sighed, "My fate is in your hands."

"Very well." The two clerics bowed again.

Cryun walked away to hire more workers, the two men turned to the grunting below the cliff.

Pharon and Gideon watched as the workers slowly pulled the Obelisk into place.

Hey,

Fu Shan & Mei Hua the Muddly Legged Girl(scientific)

As always Fu Shan had wandered off to watch the world. His was the lazy life. He was the Dragon King's ideas man. Between the to friends the Kingdom of the Heavenly Dragon had learned the was of using the bouniful lake with rafts. Thus creating the Fishing Clans that keep a surplus of fish for the village needs. Thus creating a way of preserving the fish by smoke.

"Its one big puzzle and all you have to do is put the pieces together." Fu Shan said to no one as he sat down below a shade tree near the place he had watched the wise ant in his contructing of a tiny raft. He closed his eyes and was soon asleep.

He soon awoke to the sound of a young girl's giggling. His eyes lite up and a big smile came to his face. He rolled onto his chest and crawled through the tall grass till he came to a place he could watch without being seen.

Below his position he could see her. The first thing he noticed was she was of the newly arrived nomad tribe. Her short black hair & dark skin gave it await. She was only wearing a linen loancloth and a long leather apron that reached below her muddy naked legs. On the bank beside her spread out was a large smooth animal hide & a very large wooden cylinder. More like a firewood log. Like the hide it was smooth & stained a redish brown color. There was also somekind of bone tools along with her clothes.

"What are you up to my beautiful savage?" He said quietly to himself. His brain already knowing this was Dragon wisdom being shown to him by a river maiden of the forest. He watched on.

Mei Hua had notice the villager right away. Had he thought to come unnoticed. She was a child of the wild. "Silly man." She would let him watch. Mei Hua folded the apron & fliped it over her shoulder & waded into the stream that flowed into the lake. She sang as she went, giggling at each misstep that threatened to drop her under the water.

"Thank you Heavenly Dragon for the most exotic way of teaching." Fu Shan said as he was delighted to see the splashing water sprakle around the dark beauty. He watched as he crossed the stream & kneel into the water at the bank. There she began to search the bank along the water line with her hands. He smiled as she went back & forth along the bank. Kinda like the ant along the lakeshore.

It didn't take Mei Hua long to find the clay. It was a skill taught by mothers to each female child of the tribe. She came in close to the clay and took the long leather appron from her shoulder & laid it below the water by the bank. With strong fingers she pulled & tugged until she collected enough for her needs.

"Maybe a little to much." Mei Hua said as she brought the ends of the apron up and tied them around her neck. She stood up. Her tight muscled body strained under the wieght of the clay.

Fu Shan watched excitedly as his maiden of wisdom found what she was looking for & came back across the stream. He watched as she spread the reddish mud on stained hide. It was the same color which meant she had done this many times. The girl began a whimsical chant as she worked the thick mud. With each upbeat she would pound the wooden cylinder into the mass. He noticed that the mud became more workale as she went. After very long minutes Shan Fu turned on his back looking up into the sky humming with the beautiful vioce below.

Mei Hua worked the clay with the heavest of wooden roller. It made her feel good to be able to swing the heavy device like a twig. It be able to take care of herself. Shouldn't the daughter of the tribe have that knowlege.

"Pervert of the grass its time to watch again." She whispered as she rolled up a little piece of clay and throw it at the point in the grass were the man was. She could hear him humming with her. She saw movement and quickly looked down & began forming the clay.

Fu Shan quickly rolled onto his stomach & looked down at the girl. Something had flew over his head just above his face. Could she have known he was there. "No she doesn't." He said quietly. She had her head down working with the wooden cylinder & reddish mud. He watched as she rolled the mud around the cylinder & cut it to length. Twice that way and twice with a double wide length. With stained fingers she weave the thick mud into a patterned rectangluar tube. A bottom was fashioned. Then a top which she made with a lip to fit into the mouth and a low wide handle.

Mei Hua was happy for the day. A fine new clay jar & a villager interested in her. She did wonder if the pervert was interesteed in her or the skill of jar making. Her father had said that the villagers were very strange about learning new things. She cleaned her families tools in the stream, glad that she found the clay in such shallow slow flowing water. "No harm in a tease." She laided the jar into the clean apron & turn it around to her back, exposing her beasts to the man in the grass. She quickly covered herself with the rolling hide. It wasn't like she had washed her legs for him she thought as she walked back to the nomads camp.

Fu Shan tried to focus after seeing the dark maiden bronze breasts. "Thank you Heavenly Dragon." He said trying to check his breath. "You have truely blessed me with your wisdom and gifts." He rolled over into the tall grass. His mind at war. The beautiful dark maiden's huge breasts & dirty legs were fighting the wisdom he had seen. A container of made of mud.

3 EP: Artisan's Quarter

And lo it was said, by the Second Emperor Li Sung, that the artisans of the glorious capital city of Laozai were to be constructed a great quarter of the city to occupy, and to produce their valuable wares in, from which they could take them to market and sell them for a profit. The quarter, was to be constructed of wood and brick, to be created so that the people of the city who have an eye and a talent for fine arts, would be given a haven to work in peace and provide their goods to the Emperor and the people as a whole, so that all may profit.

This artisan's quarter, as dictated by the Emperor Li Sung, would be a shining beacon to humanity as a whole. Not only would the precious gems dug from the mines outside of Laozai be taken and sold at market, but they would be traded from these peoples further east, who name themselves the Koreans. The Koreans thirst for precious gems, and we are willing to trade our gems with any precious material and commodities that they might have...

These fine gems of ours make a good profit at market, as the wealth of nations flows through our fingers... progress is prosperity, yes...

Prosperity brings progress, and progress brings prosperity in an endless loop. Many do not see it that way; I hope that our people can.

One day, this wealth will sway entire empires, bring down kingdoms and armies, and pave a golden path to the stars so that we may meet with our gods... or become them ourselves. For we are the Shang, the people of this corner of the world, and unprecedented power lays before us now, if we reach out and seize it...

That we must do.

And that we shall.

In the small village of Paranaa, at the feet of the mighty Himalayas there lived a man named Aesau, no ordinary man, but a maker of wheels.

It was because of Aesau, and no other, that the village boasted a Chariot among their army which was rightly feared by the Barbarians of that area.

But Aesau was also a father to two sons, twin boys who Aesau was greatly proud of and he instructed them from their early youth that he required a task from them in their lives.

For Aesau was proud of his wheels, he knew that they would allow people to travel farther than ever before. But he spent his life making wheels, not seeing the lands he wished to see. So he set one son out to the West, to learn what he could there, and he sent the other to the East to see what could be seen. And they would discover these things and return to tell their father.

Hap was sent to the West, and he was a man of agile mind who decided to travel as far to the West as he could, so that he could get the most recent information on the way back, when he had reached the Nule he turned South, hearing tales of Sudan and their wealth in spices. In Zull Hap took up with a group of Caravaneers who had secured safe passage through the land. They travelled up the Nule in search of this land, and they travelled through the land of Satura but when they reached the border they found Saturan guards who warned them not to pass on the way to Sudan, since some of the more violent separatists have been raiding traders and had only been frightened away by the presence of Saturan warriors who, at that point, had returned with the spices of Sudan. The wariness of the armies meant that the Nubian camps were obvious to the passing soldiers, but it also frightened away any resistance.

The traders set up outside of Waset, where they sold desert plants, a small selection of Zulappi Beer, Fish and Wheat, all the things they had gathered.

But the traders felt their stocks inadequate, for the men of Satura paid in gold, and there were many spices from Sudan. The caravaneers were much impressed with the wealth of the nation. Hep parted ways with them here, and looked into the mines, which interested him greatly. He arrived in the city in the final days of Gideon's legendary rule, and while Hep was in the city Gideon passed into the next life. Pharon the Farseer took command of Satura and oversaw the burial of his revered predecessor.

A massive Obelisk had been under construction for years, a fitting monument for this eventuality.

The rebel camps to the South remained a major topic of conversation in Satura the whole time Hep was there.

(Satura: +Obelisk of the Golden Handed, Wheel (1/4), +Economic Expansion +5 Reputation, +1 Gold Production)

The traders stayed behind to ask Pharon the Farseer to respect and protect their trade routes, but Hep returned down the Nule, back into the land of Zulappi.

Zull was a different land altogether, but Hep soon became fond of the strange customs.

For one, there was not so much money being thrown around. In Satura every market was bustling, but except for a few caravans there was little commerce to be had in Zull. People were concerned with building things, food was provided in the work camps and significantly more time was spent in the act of religious meditation.

The stones, the workers would say, make yourself like the stones. And Hep learned the wisdom of their path. In Satura they had more ideas about religion, but Zulappi had the stronger faith.

But as Hep was just beginning to appreciate the isolation of Zull, the hardworking provincial nature of the people, the Shaman constructed a new and massive market where the Caravaaners made a headquarter of all of their traders.

Here there were not the problems that he had heard so much of when he travelled near the Land of the Sun. The Traders were protected as they worked their trade routes, and because of the cooperation of the Shaman they showed the warriors and citizens of Zull the fastest and safest routes.

It is also said, often, by the caravaners, that it was they who realized the "commercial potential" of Zulappi Beer.

(Zulappi: +Economic Expansion (1/2), +Stonehenge, +Roads, +1 Social Cohesion, +Trade Good: Zulappi Beer. +2 Reputation)

Returning through the Land of the Sun Hep was advised to loose any connection to the trading caravans, as traders were deeply involved in a growing turmoil in those lands.

Traders and Fishermen continue to battle in the streets of Ur, and Hep chose to avoid that city.

(Land of the Sun: Economy Banked)

Dor went to the East, riding his father's chariot he set out for the rising sun.

The first civilized people he encountered were in the Land of the Dragon, here they were excited at the new face, as the nomadic peoples who had settled in Junjan were offering up new knowledge and growing dear to the people.

It allowed more division of labor, while the native and original population of Junjan was scrambling to find their places in the quickly growing fishing clans few nomads expressed an interest in fishing and took upon themselves many of the Kingdom of the Heavenly Dragon's more peripheral activities.

But all was not well in the Kingdom of the Heavenly dragon, in that land the scholars and mystics declared that due to an accounting error there were not enough funds allocated towards research, they spread divisive rumors that while the nomad's pottery is great it represents a huge threat to the scientific advancement of the Kingdom. If random nomads know things that they do not, then what else is there, and who knows it? And how do they know that these nomads come with pure intentions!

But, in the streets of Junjan where the nomads marry into Fishing Clans and share their knowledge these cries are not taken too seriously.

(Kingdom of the Heavenly Dragon: Economy Expanded, Pottery (1/2), +4 Reputation, +1 Social Cohesion)

Further East, in Shang Dor was astounded by the wealth and cosmopolitan nature of Laozi, where the jewel magnates were beginning to cause problems, feuding with Korean fur merchants who had braved the wilds.

It is the opinion of the Shang Jewel Magnates that if the precious gems are allowed to leave the borders of Shang then the monarch will lose his power to protect the people from barbarian tribes.

But the Opinions of the Jewel Magnates are not taken very seriously in the new and growing Artisan's Quarter, here the workers of Shang provide goods to one another and work with the limited merchants who are willing to make the journey from Korea.

(Kingdom of Shang: Artisan's Quarter (3/4), Reputation +2, +1 Social Cohesion)

And although he could not travel there Dor heard many stories of the distant Kingdom of Kitanato, a place where the King was gaining a reputation for absentee rule. But in Kitanato the religion is taking up much of the role of keeping the people together.

There has been no loss of social cohesion because of the faith, but that might change. If there was ever a problem within the faith, which is bound to happen soon, only the King could resolve it.

(Kingdom of Kitanato: Economy Banked)

And so Dor returned to Paranaa, where he found Hep waiting for him. Aesau had been dead for years, and so the two men found that their mission for him was failed, as they could never tell him the wonders that they had discovered.

So, these two men who had not seen each other since their teenage years, who had spent their whole lives in journeys to the ends of the world sat down in their childhood home and realized that they had nothing to say to one another.

1 EP - continue to develop economy. Workers need to be fed, so that they can worship the Stones, the River, and the Shaman! We must plant more crops and work WITH the river, not AGAINST it! A Worker's Camp would be a perfect place for the food to be distributed. It could be found at every work site, from the Null to even the Satura borders. It would speed up the lunch hour through better distribution, also allowing the workers to get more worshipping in.

1 EP - "Zullappi Cohesion". the Zullappi religion and their inclination for hard work has made it a very difficult thing for their peasants Workers to question their leaders. This has made possible the easier transition from one societal trait to another - effectively halving the Social Cohesion cost for changed Traits or other social cohesion related affects. [this is a multi-turn project and obviously will not be covered by 1 EP. Should you consider this too gamey or not doable, just bank this EP.

The Shaman stood On High upon the Stone Foreman's structure, watching his devoted workers. They knelt on wicker mats, rhythmically touching the the Stones they each wore on their belt (but took off for prayer) to their foreheads, the communal chant continuing.

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

He saw the stones they wore hanging from their belts as a kind of shackle.

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

A literal ball and chain, if you will.

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

"Bali," he said at last.

They would never know that.

"Yes, Shaman. I am here, always, at your side. I am your stone, as they say."

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

"Hush."

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

"Yes, master."

They worshipped the stones. Adored and idolized the stones and their way.

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

"Have the reports from the outer lands been brought to my office?"

"Yes, Shaman."

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

They listened to the Shaman to read their dreams, and the Shaman always led them back to the Stones.

"Go ahead then."

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

"There have been no disloyalties since the last report, Shaman. No questioned orders, no stray thoughts."

"Be as the stones. Hard as the stones. Working the stones."

It was a glorious set-up.

I gave it statistics, but it doesn't show up on the map anyways.

I'll be honest with you, it was a bookmark there, because I had some plans and schemes with regards to our narrators and their native village. And, for the record, compared to cities in the Kingdom of the Heavenly Dragon, Zulappi or even Korea or Sudan, Paranaa is tiny.

Tiny but adventurous and wise, they have the wheel, like it says in the update and they know much of the world beyond their borders thanks to the tireless work of Hep and Dor.

King Gideon watched as the last, greatest Obelisk was slowly towed towards the center of the monument.

And as he watched, he taught Pharon all he knew, the way that we was taught by old Cyrun the Cleric and Hirol the Ranger.

And as he taught, he felt himself die bit by bit.

And as his last words left his mouth, he felt his end come.

As the Obelisk slowly settled into place, he felt his end has come.

His debt was repaid.

"Let all who take from the earth, give to the earth." he intoned.

And he died.

--------------------------------------

The Legends of Gideon the Golden Handed are hard to seperate from fact. We do know that the rise of Wasat into importance among the Saturans was correlated with the opening of the earliest known mines, but which was first? We do know that the Golden Sun was worshiped, and gold was praised and hoarded, but was that before or after the mines? Or was it even before or after Wasat? Finally, we do know that at least one figure was known as a "King" or "Great Head" during this period, but can a single person really live, as legends say, for hundreds of years during Wasat's early era?

The only way we can tell is by looking at the similarities between these tales. All tell of (Commonly known as Gideon or Gorden) the Golden Handed one, who discovered the blessings of the Golden Sun deep within the earth. And how he himself dug the first mine, and how he bequeathed his technique to a generation of miners and how he purchased his leadership. Too, there are many stories about the Golden Handed and a mentor, often called "Hirol", who helped the figure achieve wisdom in his leadership.

And we have stories of the Warrior Dance, where he and Hirol led Saturan hunters and militiamen against warlords from the Sudan regions of the south, and how his quick thinking allowed him to identif their war dance, adopt his own, teach it to his people and use it to frighten his enemies into flight.

Then, we have stories of his learning under the Priests of the Golden Sun, and his fear that his actions have weakened the balance between the sky and the earth, and his attempt at building a great field of obeliski to restore the balance and cease the earthquakes and cave-ins which plagued the early mines.

And we have the final story of how, on his death, he was buried under the largest Obelisk of all, giving back to the Sky what he took from the earth.

How much of these tales are true? There was an obelisk buried over a king, but which king was it? There was records of sudden peace between Wasat and Sudan, but what cause was it?

There is a nation of Satura, based on the golden wealth of earth and the golden faith of the sun.

And they say, it was created by one with Golden Hands.

Hey,

King Longwei. The Water Dragon. (culture)

King Longwei looked down on the scholars. In all the history of the Kingdom of the Heavenly Dragon, never had a King made his subjects bow before him. Even when the Raft Clans tried to forced his Grandfather King Shushi into supporting them. Not just bow, but kneeling with forehead in the sand of the lakeshore.

"And so it has come to this." He walked through them stopping only to slam a pottery "log" beside the heads of the sweatiest. The sand would explode showering the scholar and sticking. This would cause humiliation for the scholars who, on whole, were very clean living. "For to long you have tried to seperate the People of the Dragon." The sweatiest were also the most outspoken of the teachers. The ones that had made his fathers life troublesome. "Divide them on Nomad linage. For a hundred years you have surpress any attempt to discover any Dragon Wisdom from our now shared culture."

"So by my orders you all will learn to make pottery." King Longwei smiled. "You will dig your own clay." He slamed the heavy pottery log. "Pond it." Again he hammered home his point with the log. "Shape it with your own hands." He dropped the tool beside the most horrfied scholar. "I will then judge your work. Those that pass will go on teaching." He made his way through the kneeling men to the steps of his lakeside palace. "Those that don't?" He moved up the steps to sit on a large, wonderously carved with flying dragons and clouds, swing. "Well you will be the ones that will deliver the first trade goods to Panaraa."

"Once you make your delivery you will live under the watchful eyes of the Panaraa craftsmen who will show you the wisdom of the wheel." King Longwei laid back. "You will also strive to learn any other Dragon Wisdom and return to spread that wisdom."

I have added a list of stories on the third post. This list includes the benefits that were obtained from the story, in an effort to provide more transparency to this process.

I very much appreciate if you tell me what sort of benefit you are trying to obtain from a story. But I can still just guess if you prefer.

I also would like to take this moment to remind you that any problem can be solved by "writing it away," and this can serve as a way to mitigate your weaknesses, although I appreciate that most of you have sucesfully been using them to exaggerate your strengths.

I am considering a system by which anyone who writes a story in every category over the course of an age (stone, bronze, iron, whatever) will get their Social Cohesion maxed and will receive a bonus based on their trait (Commercial: +2 Economic Expansion, Militaristic: Maintenance Charged per 20 Units for the next age, Scientific: Science Related Buildings cost -1 in the next Age, Industrious: 1 Free Building without needing Research, Religious: +20 Reputation, Influence over Foreign Citizens).

I won't do so if there is widespread objection. If there is some sort of conversation that needs to be had about the bonuses I scribbled up there then let's have it.

If I did do something like this, Satura is the closest to hitting them all, followed by Zulappi and the Kingdom of the Heavenly Dragon.

I have also received questions about settlements outside of your capital. I will not be listing cities for their own sake.

HOWEVER, I do list the locations of soldiers and buildings. Tell me where you want the dot on the map, tell me what you want to call it, and put some soldiers there or build some buildings and I will list the building or soldiers as being located there.

May we be so honored as to practice our trades among you and expect the respect of your armies and protection of your laws despite the fact that we are not men of this land?

Always do. I just read a post that asked the question if you should list what type of story. Was that here?
sucesfully
:mischief:

1. Commercial: +2 Economic Expansion What can you say. Commercial is a powerhouse.
2. Militaristic: Maintenance Charged per 20 Units for the next age Cost only 1 ep for 10 now.
3. Scientific: Science Related Buildings cost -1 in the next Age Seems kinda weak.
4. Industrious: 1 Free Building without needing Research Does this include Wonder Builds?
5. Religious: +20 Reputation, Influence over Foreign Citizens The trait is based on social cohesion. OP perhaps? What is the max on Rep?

Hey,

Always do. I just read a post that asked the question if you should list what type of story. Was that here?

:mischief:

I wonder if anyone will ever be willing to pore over the pages and pages of this thread to try to find some sort of evidence to support your claim.

1. Commercial: +2 Economic Expansion What can you say. Commercial is a powerhouse.

I think Commercial is ok, I don't think 2 expansions is too much. I'd rather see the other ones cleaned up to that level.

2. Militaristic: Maintenance Charged per 20 Units for the next age Cost only 1 ep for 10 now.

Fair enough, add a few extra units? +5 generic base units.

3. Scientific: Science Related Buildings cost -1 in the next Age Seems kinda weak.

lol, yes, a little. But it's funny that it should be you to point that out.

Let's say +1 Research per Turn? Basically the Library/Laboratory boost on it's own, stacking with science buildings.

4. Industrious: 1 Free Building without needing Research Does this include Wonder Builds?

God no.

5. Religious: +20 Reputation, Influence over Foreign Citizens The trait is based on social cohesion. OP perhaps? What is the max on Rep?

Yes, I understand what you mean. There is no max on rep. It is hardly a "take over the cities and minds of foreign lands," it just means that there will be factions in other nations who support good relations with their religious capital at any cost. These other factions can deal with the attempt on Social Cohesion being made by some, crazy foreign religious leader, but it seemed to me that I could either make the Religious bonus totally underwhelming or take the Social Cohesion element of the Religious Trait and allow it to mitigate the threat of foreign factions.
