Absolution 4: Tabula Rasa

To The Khanate
From Orlando, Inquisitor Captain of the Steppe

Of course. It is rather hard to speak to you and learn of your customs while you are shouting warcries and tearing open swordsmen, but now that I know, I shall desist in using the name of the glorious region of my operations for my chapter.

To the Empire of the Heavenly Dragon
From Orlando, the Inqusitor-Captain of the Steppe

Ignore the change of my title, it is for the best. Our offer is still on the table, we wish to reduce conflict between us.

The Spears Begin the March

As a nation, we as the Shang have grown weak and allowed ourselves to stagnate and atrophy, like the muscles of an old man. We have been blinded by trade and by power that the trade brings to us, that we have left our military to rot and to decay slowly... we can not allow this to be. The diplomatic games that are played around us as people try to take our wealth from us and to run all over us while we are forced to lie back and take it, time after time after time... that shall happen no longer. We call our spears, we call the banners of the clans and the leaders of our people, and the Emperor shall march with the troops to guide them on to crush our enemies in the field.

We must march, for our time has come.

The world shall quake by our hand.

The banners march, and the world shall shake, for the Shang move and shape the Earth as we know it. Tremble, mortal men and women, for we are your death. The legions of the Kingdom.

Spoiler Sheba :
Queen_Of_Sheba_John_Poynter01.jpg

It was dull, thought Malach, as King Kong III introduced him to one noble and then another. Dull pleasantries are shared and a bit of verbal sparring, and then the next personality is introduced. He did find some interesting business opportunities, especially for a trade line connecting pitch wells for their fun card games, but then, he feels as if he is just a stone.

And then, she walked into the room. King Kong introduced her as Sheba, Princess of the House Nubia and many other words besides, but he didn't notice any of them. She was simply enchanting. And when they spoke, he found to his surprise her voice is even more beautiful as her body, and that she had an extraordinarily beautiful mind. It took all his effort to not fall like some kind of weak hearted teenager to continue the conversation with her.

----------------------

Sheba watched as Malach conversed with the other nobles of Punt she had sent to prepare him for her. He seemed smart, a good asset, and quite modest despite his supposed riches. His silver crown rode low in his thick head of immaculately combed hair and despite her intentions, she felt something in her heart for this young shepherd from Napata.

They conversed, and she thoroughly enjoyed his sharp, if contained, wit and his interesting ideas of the world. As she was the last noble to be introduced, dinner was set and the conversation continued.

And continued as the dancing begun to the sound of hired Sitarists from Kush.

And continued as wine and ale pooled about their feet.

And continued as they leaned close, talking about the past, and yet of the future...

Hey,

To: Octavian, the Prime Citizen of Satura
From: Crown Prince Fu Longwei of the Heavenly Dragon Empire

To sign such a Defensive Treatry without terms is unsound. I would need the following.

1. No Satura troops or spies are to be East of Persia.
2. No aid to the Khanate. This means you stay out of Eastern Craddle affairs.
3. Attempts by your ships to venture into the East across the Western Indus Ocean will Stop. No colonies will be built on Islands of the Western Indus Ocean or East of your Island colony. Your Ocean Trade route with Ur will be allowed but none going East from there.
4. Acceptence of the Kush-Dragon Empire Alliance which means no trade with the Indus peoples.
5. The Garden that is the East will be removed from your minds.

1.We agree to this if our merchants are to be allowed renewed access, if only under your protection instead of mine.
2. From this point on, Aid to the Khanate shall end as I have promised to Shang. However, corrollary states that you shall also agree to end aid to Cyria, Kurdia, and the Western Cradle
3. I would like the Corollary concerning moving west across the Puntic Sea, especially to the lands south of Punt.
4. We're fine with that. And we hope that, in the future, sanctioned and co-negotiated trade may form.
5. This is unacceptable, unless you remove the Land of the Sunset to the west form your minds. Zorro has given us a piece of the Riddle of Life by showing us the Land of the Sunrise, and we desire to keep this piece, as we think you desire to keep the piece of the Dragon's Puzzle, that is knowledge of the Lands of the Sunset

As always, I do hope that you are wise enough to understand the importance of reciprocal relationships. This is my counter proposal.

Satura will be represented as Satura, not as You or I
The Empire of the Heavenly Dragon shall be represented as The Empire, or Dragon, not You or I

1. No Saturan Troops or Spies are to be East of Persia.
2. No Dragon Troops or Spies are to be West of Persia.
3. Persia shall be the nuetral ground, as per their declaration, between us with no one declaring direct influence upon the High Priestdom nor seeking to do so. There will be no renegotiation of this.
**************************
4. Satura shall, from this point on, make no additional or future arrangements to aiding the Khanate. Satura shall stay out of eastern Cradle Affairs in that regard.
5. The Empire shall, from this point on, make no additional or future arrangements to aiding Cyria or Kurdia. The Empire shall stay out of Western Cradle Affairs in that regard.
6. Any outstanding agreements shall be completed, as to maintain diplomatic integrity of both nations.
*************************
7. Attempts by Saturan ships to venture into the East across the Puntic Sea will stop. No colonies will be built on the Islands of the Puntic Sea or east of your Island colony. Saturan Ocean Trade Route with Ur will be allowed but none going East from there without Imperial approval.
9. Attempts by Imperial ships to venture into the West across the Puntic Sea will stop. No colonies will be built on africa or east of Kush. Imperial trade will be allowed only with express Saturan approval.
*************************
10. Acceptance of the Kush-Dragon Alliance means no Saturan trade with Indus peoples.
11. Acceptance of the Saturan-Nubian-Puntic-Solar relationships means no Imperial trade with these peoples.
12. Future trades may be renegotiated. Additions to the negation of trade possibilities may be declared unilaterally with support of the nation into such an relationship.
*************************
13. The Garden that is to the East, after the settling of affairs, shall be removed from discussion of policy. No policies of Satura will concern the East.
14. The Lake that is to the West, after the settling of affairs, shall be removed from the discussion of policy. No policies of the Dragon will concern the west.
************************
15. Possibility to renegoatiate any part of this treaty is allowed only where stated.
16. If any part of this treaty is broken, there will be a 1-turn discussion for the breaker to explain himself and pay 5EP to the maintainer. If this is not done all and every point shall be considered null and void.
17. As long as these points are established, there will be peace between the Empire of the Heavenly Dragon and Satura.

lmfao. Those are the ultimate fighting words in any NES. No need to run it into the ground any more than I already did.

But at the same time, if you had dealt with the Cyria problem long ago it would never have gotten as bad as it is.

If I dealt with the Cyria problem long ago, looking at the rules of wonder obsolescence and my income, especially the upkeep for my expanded army, my current income would be at around 13 instead of 24, I just finished researching sailing, and bowed to the Heavenly Dragon Empire.

>Math Rules<

I wonder what your high-end/low-end projections look like coming out of this one...

-

These aren't going into effect this turn. I hate to spoil the surprise, but there is one that I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts about. You don't have to look if you don't want.

Spoiler :

Militaristic: Militaristic Factions may assign unlimited tactics to their units.

Commercial: Commercial Factions gain 1 economy per turn for each export they send out.

Scientific: Scientific Factions receive double production from buildings or projects that provide Research.

Industrious: Industrious Factions pay 3 less for construction of buildings.

Religious: Religious Factions may acquire 4 vassals without Reputation restrictions. Religious Vassals do not count towards Vassal cap.

Spoiler Traits :

Militaristic sounds about right, especially with knights. Maybe also give them -1 unit costs?
Commercial= is that Economic Points Per turn, cuz then I want to switch back. Which reminds me, if a noncommercial nation Vassalizes a Commercial one, does the Commercial Vassal still gets the economic growth bonus? Expanded question is in social group or earlier
Scientific=Sounds neat: until you realize that Oracle now gives over 16 sp a turn if I had the mind to change it.
Industrious: Perfect and scaled.
Religious: Epic Persian Empire no? 4 vassals, one each of Militaristic, Commercial, Scientific, and Industrious.:scan:

Spoiler :

Commercial: The original way that commercial was worded seemed confusing and silly to me. This is the same effect, it just doesn't cut out on the second turn of a trade agreement.
And re: Commercial Vassals, they get the bonus from exports to their own Economy. If you have a Tax Office in that Vassal then you may take that money (or as much money as you think you can get away with)

Spoiler :
So if I have a commercial vassal and I exported 10 goods.
I get 5SP from exporting 10 goods, and any other benefits
They get 10EP, 1EP from each good, for exporting

Basically, you shifted the commercial benefit to exporting goods instead of importing?

Spoiler :
Your interpretation of Commercial's original intention is further evidence of how poorly it was worded. That is not a change, it's a clarification. That trait was always enforced as being intended for exports, for Tycho and for you.

EDIT:OOC You really need a spell check.

DESt02

Then it shall be signed, with Persia and Punt as areas of co-interaction.

EDIT: WAIT A SECOND!

I Searched my Archives (AKA thread) and there are no record of any such treaty.

OOC: I also noted you were PMing the past hour before coming with your counter proposal- if you signed a treaty then, then let me just finish a few business in the social group before signing this one.

It shall be signed, I had not signed yet. Verbal tense for the win.

I wish to know of these arrangements to consider our relationship with Punt after the signing of this treaty, which we have not signed yet but surely will soon.
