New Mafia Hosting Queue

NinjaCow, could you please change Return of the Knights to Halo Mafia 2.

It will be solo hosted by me, so you can take Mat93 off of there. I've already PMed him about it.

Spoilers about the game:

It's still a work in progress, but it will include characters and factions from all of the games. (Maybe not Reach, but I'll see.)

Elements from Halo 4 will be included, and I'll know more about that once it comes out.

Just a heads up, the queue needs updating. :)

Eurgh, hit points.

Yeah, there are hit points, but there are two key factors that make it different from Smurf Mafia:
1. If people vote to lynch, that's it. Hp does not come into play during the lynch.
2. Night-time-killing almost always kills. When night time attacks occur, someone almost always dies, HP just helps determine WHO it is (and generic townies have low HP), among other factors such as weapons, armour and spells.

Small or large?
When I read this the first time, I assumed you must have been talking to someone else, but no one replied, so I'm guessing you were actually asking me :yeah:

I need at least 25 players to make this game work like its supposed to. There need to be a number of lower HP/ weaker-equipment townies to make killing work like it usually is supposed to. More is probably never a bad thing for the set-up I've been writing. That being said, I can't name that many people who play mafia (in SC2Maf, which I play a lot, names are randomized) but that's why I'm posting here. I'm very nearly ready to post the rules for the game that everyone should know, but I haven't finished writing up all the stuff that only I should know yet.

There is no need to hurry. Going to host large mafia game...
1. looking at the queque, you will be able to start sign-ups like... half year from now?
2. you are unknown host for us. I think it would be hard for you to gather 25 players

Maybe host small game, like for 15 players, first? Or maybe even mini one (up to 10 players)? There is no waiting time for mini, and we would have a chance to know your hosting style

That sounds reasonable. I can use the same concept, just saving most/all of the interesting stuff for the main game. I think I might need more coaching for what is appropriate balance for a game of 10. Never played one so small before, and haven't bothered reading a thread for one yet either.

Eh, good ones will get what, 200 posts?

Usually 2 mafia, a neutral or two, and te rest town. A couple of power roles for the town.

What's the best one that's been hosted recently that would be a good read?

AFAIK, they've all had special mechanics lately. :crazyeye:

Buddhafish has the right ratio on mafia-neutral-town.

yes, it can also be 2 mafia and 8 town, if town is all vanilla/mostly vanilla.

you can also think about even smaller game, here is an example of good one (at least IMO). It is from other site, but mafia playing style (and most players) are identical there:

it is nice to read, I think, with 177 posts total

Second last guy has 0 posts according to the info in his post (wut?) and the next guy's post says system error. Something going on?

Although by clicking on the number of replies of a thread in the forum you can see who has posted how many posts.

Host: Verarde
Type of Game: Small
Number of Players: 18-20; with ample reserves
First time host: No
Progress: 100%.

It is a small vanilla game, and I am ready to go.

I will launch my D&D-themed mafia mini-game very shortly. I will need 10 players. Rules are a little different to make it more D&D-like. Make sure to read the rules before game-start!

Will launch when I have 10 players (barring time for role-pm-sending and writing game-start message, obviously). First day might be extra-short to make it sync-up with real life better.
