Chapter Seventeen: The Red Haredicumian Sea (511-540 WhC)
Gilguron, although periodically troubled by wars with Ennoch to their south, managed to make a monumental discovery. Language was taken to a new dimension when wise individuals in Gilgur society created an Alphabet system. Soon enough, Gilguron began to produce very small texts with symbols engraved on them, representing short messages. These were used to communicate basic religious principals and to assist in trade. The system was not enough to make full length messages, but Gilguron sought to improve upon their Alphabet, which was a mystery to the rest of the land.
Dalisam was very stable, save for a small civil war in Urunash that ended up producing a dissident state, Nugash, on the south coast. To the north, the Trymos province faced a religious revolution, one that was not necessarily favorable to the Phocesians. Olanohim, the Aluhiman faith began to become very popular in the area that was once Imrad. Since the citizens faced strict religious regulations under Imrad and later, Phoces, a conversion swept the region. Phoces had been very vigilant for signs of Kurjai spreading and causing another sensation that would have had to be stopped in its tracks. Olanohim was not seen as a threat, but it soon grew in the souls of Phocesians in southwestern Trymos. The small area revolted, and after a bloody insurrection, it left Phoces to hide in Aluhima's veil for protection.
Phoces was too occupied in another war to be bothered by the barely recovered ex-Imradi province and their change of heart. In central Haredicumia, a great tension resulted in a fracturing of Trade relations, reported by Phocesians as atrocities committed by Glypthan traders. Soon, the sea filled with blood, as ships descended to the bottom of Haredicumia's great waters. Alexaendros also entered the conflict supporting their Phocesian friends. Terantia was persuaded and threatened to join on the side of Phoces and Alexaendros, and they fearfully agreed with much reluctance. Glypthus was left in a bad position already, but Mephata played in on the treachery, seeing this as a solid opportunity to usher Glypthus, their long time rival out of Enpreca once and for all. To make things worse, Glypthus banked on support from Phentia, who was too busy with Lepria to be able to contribute much support. Glypthus was in a dire situation.
Glypthus quickly lost its posessions in Enpreca to Mephata, and their fleets were sunk by Phoces before they could make their way back to Glypthus to defend from Phocesian advances. The southern Talis peninsula was attacked by Phoces, where they met heavy resistance. The first few invasions were unsuccessful, but a decade into the war, Phoces launched one that helped them established a foothold in the Glypthan city of Hypselgitha. At the same time, Terantia had attacked from the north, a move that Glypthus never expected. They were soon wedged and were pushed out to sea. Terantia proceeded to attack their island settlements on Hurrisum. Concha eventually took the islands from Terantia to keep for themselves, but Glypthus was defeated.
Shortly after Phentia made peace with Lepria, and a great decision was made between Phentia and Terantia. After great debate and discussion, Phentia and Terantia had merged, creating Metumia, led by the great thinker, Situreus. Not all of Phentia agreed with the unification. Two dissidents states manifested as a result of the event. To the north was Pragtica, still hungering for war with Lepria, something Metumia had refused to partake in. To the east, Juxtum was formed along the border of Arcelendia, which they soon conquered the southern portion of to extend their state out to the coast.
Garan, the small state to the north of Nactrabia, was consumed by Yuhrug and Psigon. For years, Yuhrug had been attacking along the coast, but Garan had held up alright. Yuhrug looked for support from a neighbor of Garan to finish them off. Psigon volunteered to assist them, and they were paid generously with new territory. Rathi had a war of its own, against the militaristic state, Ceressi. After successfully seizing an abundance of land, they made peace, leaving Ceressi to question their military effectiveness. Hermika recieved some new neighbors upriver from them: Thammis and Mammok. Borth were populated by tough citizens who were used to the snow and frigid temperatures that often plagued northern Oroca. Although not along the river, another neighbor state, Teritan, was founded east along the coast.
The Gate Peninsula erupted in its first major war. Lycia and Adureaiight together invaded Ouannon, who was closely guarding its borders in case of invasion from the many empires bordering them. Nevertheless, the Ouannoi were easily defeated, and the land was divided up amongst the victorious. Lycia nearly doubled its Gateic possessions. On a minor note, Solen sold its land across the sea to Giustaios who sought land of their own in Gate. Southwestern Lycia did not receive the faraway conflict very well. Citing a dry culture, technological backwardness, aggressive decisions from the leadership, and not enough dedication to trade, Gaucha, one of the oldest regions of Lycia, broke off. Gaucha quickly interacted with local trading societies, forming close trade relationships with Amu Daria, Dromiera, Mertas, Phoces, and Concha.
Rasire saw some radical changes of their own, of religious nature. Kolkur, unable to keep up with the rapid advancement of their neighbors, was consumed by Tsang Chip and brought into the Khaylatian empire. A celebration erupted along the east bank of the Zoan river. Years later, Khay Lat saw a troubling incident occur in their southwestern territory. After years of isolation and growing differences, the region split from Khay Lat. It intended to remain as one, but due to vast differences in beliefs and desires, the area was severed into four distinct states: Sjanan, an aggressive state on the northern end of the territory, Gada Kot, a state which favors mining and trade over religion, Seh, a radical province on the east coast which sought to introduce sacrifice and mystical rituals in their own brand of Tsang Chiep, and Jaga Tsuk, a fishing state on the west coast.
Further south along the coast, Baru continues its war with Jiji. Thinking they were isolated enough to neglect their defenses, panicked upon being ambushed by Baru fishing boats. Jiji surrendered after a brief period of skirmishing, and they joined the Baru empire. Two states futher south of the site of battle, Onih and Mimmo, established themselves as religious communities with fishing traditions. Zoa gave up its coastal territory to Amra, who brought yet another religion into the region. They set up posts,well known for being built from Amran Wood and the scent of incense found in what was once Drubela.
Pyrem, one of the oldest empires on the earth, met its demise when Mephata's greed was extended. Not satisfied with the additions of Glypthan land to their empire, they sought to expand all the way to the Wisay river. Knowing the tough conditions of desert and mountain combat, they recruited Andorat as their ally. After a series of intense fighting in the mountains and along the Wisay river, several decisive victories indicated the end of Pyrem's reign. Another empire, Zush, collapsed when it was invaded from the south by Gangaja. Matal attacked Quesha, who ironically survived longer than Pyrem. Peace was made quickly as Matal focused on relations with their new neighbor to the south, Jakri. A former colony of Phentia gained independence as Zecurum. Amu Daria took an uncharacteristic step militarily with an invasion of Igirul. Mertas joined in, and Igirul quickly fell, unable to deal with a two front war. However, a minority of survivors fled the battle scarred coast, trekking the desert until they reached the east coast of Enpreca.
Clokeeno ascended to the throne of the most powerful empire in Extal after emerging victorious from a seemingly hopeless war with Hekkai that lasted nearly a dozen years. Using their momentum, Extal finished the remaining Hekkai strongholds and proceeded to damn Razzar to the same bloody fate with another brutal and long war. Despite the fierceness of Razzari fighters, Clokeeno managed to locate a particularly durable type of stone, from which they constructed their clubs. As a result, Clokeenok warriors relied less on restoring their supplies, and ultimately ground the Razzari down until they failed to supply themselves in a short enough time. One new state, Caregmy, formed to the south of Gumo.
Tekkal saw the rise of a new neighbor, Shal'dar, who had similar beliefs and principals. They quickly formed a strong trade bond. Shal'dar carried with them goods from the north, from the foreign lands of Laga, Rokinro, and Teuga. Even further to the north, Grecosaliourax divided. The north, naming itself Saros, was displeased with military campaigns and wished to remain a trading civilization primarily. The south, Atelo, was interested in passing through the Nue lands to attack Etemak and finish them off. This conflict of interest ended up in a division which left the region without a dominant force for even more years. Etemak's new neighbor, Tamet was yet another new civilization with ambitions to be the wealthiest, the most advanced, powerful, populous, and expansive empire the land has ever seen.
