GEM 1.13.1/CivUP 2.4.1 - Air Repair Promotion for Bomber Units

This is an issue that pre-dates the latest versions and has been mentioned elsewhere by myself and others.

According to the Promotion Tree it would seem that you can get Air Repair with either x3 Siege and/or x3 Bombardment. As it turns out, you can get Air Repair for x3 Siege, but not x3 Bombardment. I feel this is important because, for me anyway, it means I no longer go the Bombardment route due to the importance of Air Repair.

I've looked at all of the relevant xml files (I think), but don't quite see the problem and as far as I can tell both x3 Siege and x3 Bombardment should lead to Air Repair. These are the promotion choices you get with x3 Siege and x3 Bombardment:

So I also thought Air Targeting (+33% vs Naval) was pretty much included in Bombardment - it's not in the Promotion Tree; anyway, if no option of Air Repair with x3 Bombardment is intentional, then fair enough, but I'm willing to look further if it's supposed to be an option/if someone can point me in a more focused direction re: the files. Maybe it's not even a GEM issue, not sure.
 
Try changing this in the "mobile" promotions file.

It would say "bombardment" in the file but the actual promo is AIR_BOMBARDMENT. That could be it, but let me know if it doesn't work. There's another glitch in the "other" promos file that has the wrong March set on air units (should be March_III) that you could try as well, but I'm fairly sure the promogrid file has it correctly. It's almost certainly a GEM issue as the promotions trees were significantly changed.

Air Targeting could be removed as bombardment does the same thing but it's kind of like ambush and provides a flavor enhancement to the unit as a more specialist killer. I'm pretty sure Air Target 2 is out of the game already. I wouldn't mind leaving the first level in as a promo at 25%.
 
Excellent. I'll try all of that and see how it goes.

(I think I noticed that 'March III' thing/glitch and was wondering about it, but wasn't sure).

And, yeah, Air Targeting if you follow the Siege path isn't too bad of an option, though it would stack with Bombardment wouldn't it.
 
It would, but it's also a specialised ability. They get air-ambush I believe too to go after tanks, but going after ships is a different kind. And we can always put intercept or anti-air bonuses on late-game ships to compensate.
 
True, it is specialised and maybe it's because I've misunderstood Bombardment, +15 Land and Sea units, vs Air Targeting, +33% Naval units. In other words, are 'sea units' only embarked units and not ships/subs? At any rate, still strange that Air Targeting is only available to x3 Siege and not x3 Bombardment.

In my opinion, having a pilot(s) skilled in bombing cities shouldn't be any better or different in terms of subsequent promotions than one good at attacking land(/sea) units.
 
So I changed the entry in "mobile" promotions to AIR_BOMBARDMENT and it worked - via ingame editor anyway.
