ImmacuNES VI: Dreams and Legends

I disagree. Cap'n Jack sparrow said it best. The utterly insane, you can predict to act in an insane manner... It's the sane ones you have to watch out for. You never know when they'll do something completly insane.

False.

See, the fun thing about being insane is that I can be trying to throttle your throats into space one moment and then offering you genuine advice on fashion style the next. Sometimes simultaneously.

I can be trying to lead you into a pit of spiky death in one sentence and then warn you about a tribe of lobsterwomen living near the coast of the Many Colored Lands the next. After all, I'm not malicious.

I just have an odd sense of humor.

When the news was shared to the gathering at the Temple of the Woven Branches that the tendrils did not respond, most likely because they were not sentient, a new uproar was started as the information was processed and added to fuel the debates. The more cautious faction of the Kodama began to crumble as many arguments were made that, as a non sentient being, the tendrils could not communicate and thus had to be escorted in some way out of the forest due to their corrupting presence. But when the discussion came to how the tendrils would be removed the arguments restarted and factions began to form.

It was at this time that a group of the most elderly Kodama split off from the main argument to discuss the ways in which the creature could be removed. It seemed to have an interest in the forest so baiting it would not work, nor would any attempts to frighten it as they were not sure what could frighten the tendrils. Magic came up multiple times as a possible answer, but the tendrils were too large to take on a spirit walk even should they be willing to and the study of banishment spells was still in its infancy as it had never been needed before.

Ultimately the elders came up with a plan that would use the natural healing power of the forest to get rid of the tendrils. As they were made up of corrupted spirits of sacrificed animals and people, bound to the earth against their will, it was proposed that the tendrils could be healed by the forest so that the spirits could continue on their path to the afterlife. After all if the forest could heal the corruption left by their touch why couldn’t it heal the tendrils themselves? However this plan ran into many problems, the forest’s powers were too scattered and wild to do such a thing. How could they focus and harness the powers of the forest?

The answer was found after much deliberation, a magical array would have to be created around the entire forest. Hypothetically it would be able to concentrate the power of the forest to any spot within the forest and purify anything there. The plan drew many criticisms as all the tendrils would have to do is leave the forest to avoid the effect leaving the corrupted spirits still chained to the earth, but most were of the opinion that anything that got the tendrils out of the forest was good enough.

The Purification Circle would work on a two stage process; in the first stage all the Kodama would channel their power into the circle to activate it so that it could start collecting the magic of the forest. Then in the second stage seven of the strongest elders would channel their power into a model circle in order to focus it on a certain location. When the solution was presented to the other Kodama they soon came to a consensus that the circle was the best way to get rid of the tendrils as it would free the forest of their corruption and free the spirits of their bonds.

They are symbiots.

Use fire.

I'm afraid I missed the reference. Unless you are talking about spiderman in which case I am more confused.

ImmacuNES IIB. An AMAZING nes. In which I managed to kill most of the population of the known galaxy in a turn.

Symbiots are all-consuming biological...something... that assimilates the local wildlife, spreads like crazy, and operates by a hive mind. It starts out stupid, but as it assimilates more sentient life forms into its neural network, it becomes more and more intelligent.

Its most terrifying quality is that it is capable of evolving to meet new threats. As the infestation expands, its danger and mutative capabilities expand as well. While a weak hive may only be able to churn out semi-capable mutated creatures in order to maul its enemies, a full fledged hives will infect 1 measly human and mutate it into multi-limbed, mult-headed monstrosities with tentacles capable of beheading a full-grown men in a single swipe. Fire and high explosives are the only effective physical means of killing an infestation.

Magic is capable of breaking apart their neural network and delay it for a while, but fire is the only known EFFECTIVE mean of clearing the infestation.

If you are to use magic, and if you are planning to get rid of it, I would recommend the following:

Hit it hard. Use whatever means that you can think of, but just HIT IT HARD. Overkill it and completely wipe out the stain. Immaculate is a mod with a long long memory. If you let even a single strain of the vines survive, it WILL COME BACK AND BITE YOU IN THE ASS. Treat it like you would a particularly virulent strain of bacteria. You keep applying antibiotics long after the symptoms are gone so that all of them are gone.

yeah- good times.... That was one of the funnest and most original settings i've played. if anyone wants to go back and check out some cool as$ $hit and not just the moderator- the players were SUPER creative in this, check out this thread:

EDIT: Get those orders in- you have about 1/2 a day. I want to keep up a fast pace for a little while yet.

Well... Damn. Hopefully the Purification Circle will work against things like that but it looks like I'll probably be improving it whether the tendrils disappear or not. Someone might decide to create one even if they don't exist now.

Hopefully the Immac will count the Forest spirit as being sufficient force to wipe out the strains.

You lied to me, dogged. Glazedcoast has no reference to elephants! It was a boatmurdered reference all along!!! I will salt theeeeee

Correction:
Where are the Space French Canadians when you need them? The Space French wish they could have been so cool.

That actually brings up a good piece of advice for Dogged57. Never underestimate the strength of Immaculate's NPCs. The symbiots aren't the only zombie race that wreaked massive havoc across entire lands...

My mistake.
Spoiler :
I'm now perfectly prepared for this setting to run normally up until medieval era tech.
Spoiler :
At which point all the civs are quickly wiped from the map by 4 hover tanks piloted by lost francophonic canucks.
They could have SWORN they were meant to turn LEFT at Errovus Secundus...

Ah god times, having to do a ritual twice because no one brought food and then preparing to unleash the zombies again on our enemies. Good times...
