Sure, go for it! My wife and i went out this evening for our anniversary so i still haven't even generated a map.

Any chance of a new IU I can play between rounds of my forum shadow game? Pweeeeease?

In 2nd Cycle there were 43 leaders played so far, in 44 games. De Gaulle made a double appearance (IU 73 & IU 89), while IU 89 was suppose to be a guy named Sid.

That means there are 9 leaders yet to make their appearance. They are:

Boudica...............Celtia AGR CHA
Darius I ..............Persia FIN ORG
Julius Caesar .......Rome ORG IMP
Gilgamesh ...........Sumeria CRE PRO
Lincoln ...............America PHI CHA
Hatshepsut .........Egypt CRE SPI
Churchill .............England PRO CHA
Napoleon ............France ORG CHA
Peter .................Russia EXP PHI

Unless there really is a guy named Sid I missed. :)

EDIT See next post for links to new games of 9 above mentioned leaders.

[IU] I don't want to let this series disappear now when I reached Immortal level. If anyone would like to continue it solo, please do! If not...I don't know if I'll have time for it, but I might try it. As soon as I learn how to make saves for all levels and how to choose good maps without making 1000 maps per week. Any help, suggestions, ideas and guidelines are more than welcome! As well as anyone wanting to post a game, if I won't be able to - or any of the remaining games.

Actually, it'd be great if a group of players would share the honor of continuing the series like they did at the beginning - as I'd like to play some too, and I prefer to play the map blindly as possible. Then, there is never-enough-civ-time thing. There are players here that occasionally start new thread with Immortal game (including me), so it'd be great if we tried to combine our random games into Immortal University and make them not so random. Great thing about this is those saves would be available for all levels as well as for Immortal level, and more players creating maps vs. 1 player creating maps should be more...well, creative. :)

[IU] I'd like us to stick to original as much as possible:
  • 1 game every 2 weeks *
  • normal size maps *
  • map type open for suggestions */**
  • no cooking maps */**
  • random opponents */**
  • ...
* exceptions allowed /** correct me if I'm wrong

[IU] We will try not to intersect with plans of currently active regular forum games (leaders, traits, civs) if possible, thus being flexible about swapping between remaining leaders. Those forum games are:* only Deity saves available. If I missed any, please remind me. Or if anyone wants to get on or off the list.

[IU] Currently active games:Only NC runs biweekly, so we should time our biweekly IU for Fridays between NC games, so that NC & IU combined have 1 game every Friday. Their next game is Oct 4, 2013 - so our should be Oct 11, 2013.

[IU] We have 4x CHA, 3x ORG and 2x everything else except 1x AGR, IMP, FIN, SPI & EXP. With that in mind, combined with above mentioned forum games, list could look like this:

Boudica ................Celtia AGR CHA ........Oct 11, 2013 .........Dubioza ............Immortal University 100
Julius Caesar .........Rome ORG IMP ........Oct 25, 2013...........Robert FIN ........Immortal University 101
Peter ...................Russia EXP PHI ........Nov 8, 2013 ...........pomthom .........Immortal University 102
Churchill ...............England PRO CHA .....Nov 22, 2013 .........Dubioza ............Immortal University 103
Hatshepsut ...........Egypt CRE SPI .........Dec 6, 2013 ..........Dubioza ............Immortal University 104
Darius I ................Persia FIN ORG ........Dec 20, 2013 .........Dubioza ............Immortal University 105
Lincoln .................America PHI CHA ......Jan 3, 2014 ..........pandamancer ....Immortal University 106
Gilgamesh .............Sumeria CRE PRO .....Jan 17, 2014 .........elitetroops ........Immortal University 107
Napoleon ..............France ORG CHA ......Jan 31, 2014 .........pomthom ..........

* nothing is final, this is meant to serve more as a base, guide, skeleton, backbone, frame...

[IU] Anything else I should know before going into this?

Anyone interested? :)

I prefer not cooking maps at all. If you are making a map and decide on the map type, generate a few test maps to get a good feel for the land available and what types of landmasses spawn. Getting the proper map size is the most important thing for game balance. This does not mean that you can't generate a few starts before settling on one though.

As for the order of the leaders, my opinion is that avoiding leaders that are currently being played in another series, have just been played in another series, or are scheduled for the next game or two in another series is far more important than mixing up the traits. It's just my opinion but i couldn't care less about playing two charismatic leaders in a row or what not because it's usually things like the map, opponents, and UUs that change the game experience more than any one particular trait.

Thanks Izuul! :)

I'm all for not cooking maps as well!

I'll try to make the map for Boudica, have almost 2 weeks to do it right and to figure out that saves thing. Is the process the same as for NC (create a Noble level game to start with) or is it different to get Immortal level save without need for adding techs to barbs?

Yes, I made the list according to leaders currently played in other series (pushed Giggles & Nappy down the list), as well as having in view their & our civs & traits.

Any suggestions for Boudica's map? Gallic warrior fun? Lots of random tribes and big bad Romans on one landmass (historically)?

Sid is (I believe) the leader you get if you set your civ to "Barbarian_Nation" or something equivalent. No uniques, no traits, uses city names based on barb cities.

Yeah, we must try if Sid works like that. Someone told me once that I need a MOD to use it but your version seems logical. Good luck for hosting Dubioza! Tell us if you need help. I think that NC and IU mapmaking is not so different so you can get the instructions from NC Bullpen. Good luck.

@Dubioza
Yep NC map making guidelines are very clear.

IIRC IU hosting best practice is you just have to add a regular BTS Save at Immortal level with the Barb techs already added so that people wanting to play straight off at Immortal with normal settings and without having to manipulate the WB can do so.

Concerning games I can host Julius or Peter, no problem.

Thanks guys for info and vote of confidence! :)

That "Barbarian_Nation Sid" could be fun! We can add this to the list for special occasion, if we figure it out. That's the first time I hear about it, will look for more info about it.

I just glanced through those map making thingies so far, if I won't figure it out in time, I'll ask for help. :)

@ pomthom

That's what I'm talking about! :)
Once you decide which one you want to host, let me know - I'll edit post #84, where I just added myself for Boudica.

OK kuul! I hope I'll have time to play next NC, good luck with that! I want to play PHI leader, so I'll play your Peter if not Gandhi. :)

If anyone else is interested, let me know!

OK, I tested creating all level saves - they work like they should. Few questions:
  • For regular Immortal save, do I use one I created for all levels, add techs to barbs in Worldbuilder and save as .CivBeyondSwordSave? Or is that different? That file would have to be played with no mods then, right?
  • I tried packing it with WinRar normally and I don't get RAR (nor ZIP) icon when I attach it. What am I missing?
  • Can anyone help me decide which of 6 maps I generated is best for Boudica? I can't decide, and you might see better than me. I can send it via PM?
Please? And thanks in advance! :)

Change the name of save and password in game details so people do not use world builder. You will be the only person who can access the save fully. Of course it means no one can adapt the save to lower levels. Why would they want to anyway?

I assume you generated a map with Immortal difficulty. Start that one up and add the barb techs through worldbuilder and then save it. This will be a vanilla BTS save and you can't load a mod and then use that save, but you can play it with BUG and/or Blue Marble Terrain mods, which are loaded through customassets and aren't loaded mods like K-mod.

Don't forget to add the extension when you name you rar or zip file like "myfile.rar" when you pack it.

Can't really help with deciding on the map, I'm not that experienced a player. I do know a lot about modding BTS, so if you need any help checking source code of the maps or whatever, feel free to contact me.

Thanks to both! I generated a map on Noble difficulty - but it should be the same thing, now when have Immortal save as well.

I'll figure it out, thanks!

OK I narrowed it down to 3 maps.

Let's see what people want:
  1. Hemispheres
  2. Fractal
  3. Global Highlands
Most votes in next 48 hours wins!

Ave Caesar! My favourite leader in the whole game! I'm in! Put me in the queue.

Oki Robert, done! :)

Plan it for Oct 25.

Make sure you re-read post #84 cause I know you like to cook them maps. Let's say you are the exception allowed, but please don't overcook it - if you look at earlier games, most of them were first rolled maps. We don't have to have all the resources available nor perfect green grasslands, just a map we can have fun with and learn from. :)

Yup! Yuuuup! No cookin' here at all. Immmortals ordered it raw, not medium+ or cooked. Fine. I hardly mess with Monarch but I just want to help this place started rolling again. I also can't resist the call of Rome. BtW, I thought that Genghis Khan is played already. Try to find the thread.
