NOTW LIII - Return to Ciretako [Game Thread]

I also think that several of the reasons people give for voting KaiserElectric are a bit... odd. Something here isn't adding up.

Autolycus, my programming has determined from your post earlier about Kasier and Winston is very scummy, and that you should be terminated.

Autolycus

Looks like it's going to end up Auto v Kaiser and I don't think the Kaiser case holds much water nor do I particularly want to associate with those voting for him.

So your primary motivation isn't finding the humans, but is instead "avoiding association" with cases that are likely to get you voted for? fos: Azzaman

Vote: Kaiser Electric

Sprig does not want gun. Winston Hughes helped destroy Flip Hero, thus more likely to be trustworthy than most other possibilities KaiserElectric's decision to not vote yesterday may be indicative of human feelings such as "fear of embarrassment" or "shyness". Also reduces datapoints for our analysis.

vote: Auto. There really isn't any decent reasoning behind this vote at first, and then there's the avoiding accountability thing. A lot of townies do that because, if you don't feel super confident in your abilities, you're just gonna keep your head down (like Leccy) so you don't get in the way of the scum hunters. It's really not a strategy specific to any faction.

Now that I think about it, Kaiser's nonvote is actually kindof scummy. Untieing a day 1 end vote is something that needs to be done, but carries a risk for the untier if the lynch ends in a townie's death. This is a risk that humans would fear more than faithful machines. unvote: vote:Kaiser

I've been in that same position too many times and it really sucks, because no matter what you do you're gonna look scummy (sometimes including nothing). It's not really a good tell.

Erm, not unvoting is a bad habit from forum of origin. Sprig or Zack may remember it. I don't really see the point in unvoting if a. I was the only person to vote them, and b. I'm going to be back well before the deadline.
It's basically like a turn signal. You know what your intentions are, but nobody else really does if you don't do anything to show them changing.

(And as for 'Oh don't pressure me' claims? I'm sorry, that's so stupid. I've stated I'll be back around 24 hours before the deadline. I'm only going to be out for twelve. If you wanted to pressure me you could easily have put me under the cooker and I responded when I got back. Hell, it's not even that I could AVOID pressure if it was put on me. I literally put down an average return time for me, with a clause for if I didn't have any time at that time. So, yeah? Okay?)
Do people get on you for that a lot? You seem pretty defensive about that.

Huh. Fair enough. I hadn't thought of it that way before.

It's not quite that. I have been jumped on for being absent during certain key 12/24 times of a game, so I started a habit of mentioning whenever I'd be out for 12+ hours. I usually don't unless I think it might get interesting when I'm out. (In this case, no real wagons had formed and there was a lot of wishy-washy until Auto vs Kaiser happened)

And now people are 'calling me out' for this, and I'm kind of in a frustrated 'damned if I do, damned if I don't' mood over it. Probably a bit petty of me but meh.

On a side note: I understand the reasoning for Kaiser isn't strong, but what is the reasoning for Auto? I don't think I've actually seen anyone mention it yet.

hmm... Perhaps. That said, I feel like taking the initiative and untying the vote is the pro-town thing to do, whether you hit scum or town in the end. I say this as someone who's both been lynched as town for doing that and getting it wrong, and as scum led lynches on tiebreakers. Not tiebreaking amounts to diliberately dodging the spotlight

I suppose an auto lynch at this point is a foregone conclusion, since there's a majority (and the tiebreaker) voting for him. We'll see where that goes, though honestly I don't have a very good feeling about it.

I don't quite understand how bladescape not unvoting is indicative of being scum.

Does anyone else get hungry for a taco whenever they see this thread's name?

I didn't before, but I will now.

Thanks, Obama.

I imagine I know Leccy better than nearly everyone else in this game, and dodging the spotlight seems pretty normal for him. Probably part of the reason why I don't think he's scummy for doing it. I think I'd like to see how Auto flips before I make any sort of real judgement on Leccy, though. You make some decent points and I'm never totally sure about anything, except that I am but a battery.

Return to Ciretako - Day 2 - Blasting through the Defences

Spoiler :

Flip Hero's Log: I had to keep going. The secret of this ship was important to discovering the machines true intention. The machines had blocked some of the entrances with laser shields, powered by generators. I must destroy them to gain access to the rest of the ship.

Unfortunately for Autolycus he was the sole defender of the generator besides its own competent enough defensive system. He fired his gun repeatedly, but he couldn't hit the fast moving enemy.

Soon enough he was destroyed and more of the ship laid open for exploration.

Return to Ciretako - Night 2 - Systems Failure

Spoiler :

Flip Hero's Log: Moving on from the bridge, the next stop was the crew quarters. It was stripped of anything remotely non machine. There were no personal belongings, gear, nothing of note. I did find another computer however. Its message:

"We're down to the base defense force, and it's not enough! They say a massive enemy is going berserk, it's even killing its own troops!"

A mild feeling on unease swept through me. Something terrible must have happened here. Before I could dwell on it any longer, I heard a laser charging up. I turned around to see an annihilator, class Sprig. His giga shot rammed into the computer blasting it into ashes where I had been seconds before. I returned fire hitting its only available weak spot, its head, the body was too well armoured for my bullets and the tail was too hard to hit accurately.

The massive creature turned and began to fire a stream of giga shots. Each one blasting holes in some part of the ships interior walls. Sprig roared and charged after me, but I was able to move out of the way, my size and superior mobility would win win the day. After a long a gruelling duel, Sprig eventually collapsed on the floor. He was out of the fight. He stared at me with the kind of steely determination only a machine can have. I fired my laser one last time and Sprig roared again. His body started shaking and eventually he exploded, his head rolling along the floor, still intact.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Zack was a wholly different kind of machine to Sprig. A simple Reaver, he didn't have the damage to beat Flip Hero or health to last in a duel. As such, patrol duty was his job. The engine room was his duty tonight, something even a machine was reluctant to draw. No robot ever wanted to patrol the engine room.

Speed was of the essence. Zack charged in exploring the different parts of the engine room. Satisfied nothing was amiss he went to leave..

But came face to face with terror itself. His systems shut down before he had a chance to react. Not that it mattered, as he was obliterated seconds later.

So... terror and flip's henchmen are apparently different killers... Then what was up with night 1?

Do we know what happens if you have a higher strength than the killer? That's the only thing I can think of right now.

No, I thought that those on Kaiser were a more suspicious group than those on Auto, therefore making that wagon more suspicious.
