June government offensive in Raqqa province had failed, ISIS pushed SAA forces back. Also, Assad lost a few towns to Al-Nusra and Co in South Aleppo, as well as Kinsabba village in Latakia.

ISIS managed to shoot down Russian Mi-25 military helicopter, both pilots were killed in crash. Russia responded by obliterating ISIS camp to the East of Palmyra, using strategic bombers.

On a bright side, Kurds are making very slow but steady progress in Manbidge. Government also launched large offensive in northern part of Aleppo city, which is close to severing Castello road - major supply rout of rebel forces in the city. Looks like they're being used as scapegoats so Erdogan can improve relations with Russia. I'm guessing he knows the EU and NATO are going to be pissed by his Stalinist purge and any reintroduction of the death penalty, but the Russian government wouldn't be bothered in the least, so he may throw in his lot with Russia instead.
 
He perfectly knows that the West will keep Turkey as NATO member and its strategic ally regardless of what he does to his political opponents.
As for relations with Russia, while Erdogan is in power, they will not return even to the level of October 2015. Punishing pilots to improve relations with Russia is generally strange idea, because they are not responsible for attack.
 
It's all very strange. Part of the army didn't join at all, part of the army attacked random civilians and the Congress (strange, eh? No legislators killed). All staged while Erdoğan is quietly out of harm's way and suppressed very easily, he's allowed to fly and land unscathed, and then he has all these thousands of arrest orders prepared. University teachers, lawyers, judges, military officers, all conveniently put under the mysterious figurehead of a cleric who live in another country, across the ocean.

no , it's rather Türkiye . But as said Türkistan / the Central Asia can be safely left out of an operations area ; not much hope for Uncle Sam to convince the Middle Kingdom and the lot to come in .
