:hmm:Oh... Why Madagascar? Why not Iroquois or PRG, or China?

I don't know. Lets just declare a ceasefire untill we can get this straightened out.

The Madagascarans are the first ones who said anything about intermidiating, and they are a neutral country not bound by any political agreements. China is an official Japanese puppet, Japan is an Iroquois ally and German enemy, Iroquois are biased against Germany and Germany is biased for Russia (which is biased for Arabia). So it's very confusing.

From Madagascar

We are pleased that you have asked us to create the peace treaty - but we, nor does anyone else, have the right to split lands, deminish nations, and set the wrongs right just yet. It is up to those who were fighting. We will be more then happy to meet with anyone (on AIM) and help mediate a peace conference between the two. I can help here too, though it will be a bit harder.

So, it's cease fire?

Need orders from Amenhotep7, Heine... and Amenhotep7, I guess.

I guess it is a ceasefire as I haven't been able to meet Jason or Anarchy on AIM. Also I am selling the western half of the colony to Liberia for 4 economies.

Orders:

-Instigate a ceasefire, however, station troops off southern Arabian Coast to invade at moment's notivce should ceasefire be broken.
-Grow Airforce x1
-Grow Army x 1

Heine left to go.

BUMP. Anyone knows where Heine is?

Just in case ANYONE at all cares. Beginning update.

Update 9 – Year 1910

Global Events:

Dominion of Twenty Colonies, Empire of Brazil, Empire of Great Britain and Finland have passed into the Middle Modern Age.

Having not received orders, the Japanese commander in America decided to act upon his own initiative and linked up with the Iroquois, facing minimal resistance. The Iroquois, however, had to cancel several offensives due to the German invasion of Mexico, so they failed to make much gains. This has allowed the Sioux to launch several costly, yet successful counteroffensives.

(-8 Sioux divisions, -1 Sioux air wing, -4 Iroquois divisions)

The Germans and their Mexican allies press on. Rommel moved to secure the second oil source – Tekzacohuacan oil fields. However, the Iroquois have switched tactics, and instead of attacking the Germans, they have fortified just before the oil fields, fending off the German attack, albeit at great cost. Meanwhile, the Aztec guerrila commander, Panchezuma, occupied most of the remainders of Mexico, apart from Yucatan which was heavily fortified by the Iroquois.

(-3 German divisions, -5 Iroquois division, -1 Iroquois air wings)

The Panama Canal enterprise continues to bring money into Incan and Brazilian (and now Liberian as well, now that Liberia joined the Dual Emperiste as per the separate peace treaty) coffers (+1 economy for Brazilian, Liberian and Incan empires).

Occitanian Civil War continues, with foreign intervention (see below).

(-2 Fascist divisions, -3 Burgundian divisions, -4 Communist divisions, -1 Communist task force, -2 Italian divisions, -2 Royalist divisions)

German Germannia is half-done. Enthusiasm rises amongst the people, and civilian support is at all-time high (+1 Culture).

Scandinavian “Warlord” Karl Olafssen has officially denounced the “treacherous treaty of Copenhagen” and demanded that Finland and Russia return the “Nordic lands” to Scandinavia. He also broke the naval limit by constructing ten new task forces. Forces are amassing on the Finnish border (the Finns reply by deep entrenchment on the border). The Scandinavian army is now much better trained, prepared and determined then in the previous war. Also, the intelligence reports that the ten task force Sicilian fleet and the Sicilian leadership that mysteriously disappeared two years ago have reappeared... in Stockholm!

Cease-fire is declared in Africa, and peace negotiations are about to begin. Liberia managed to get a very favorable separate peace treaty with Brazil and Britain, joining the Dual Emperiste and keeping their gains – soon enough, the government form is switched to Constitutional Monarchy, and Liberian Empire is proclaimed. It also bought the western half of the Arab Central Africa. Arabian forces withdraw back home.

But peace is not to be. The British, Oceanian and Liberian forces received orders to continue the advance. The Liberians have betrayed their Arabian allies, and attacked them and the Egyptians, using their prowess in desert and jungle warfare. The Egyptians are pushed out of the formerly-Occitanian territory. Arabs lose the eastern half of their colony, though inflicting many casualties.

(-7 Liberian divisions, -1 Liberian air wing, -3 Egyptian divisions, -2 Egyptian air wings, -3 Arab divisions)

In Egypt, things get very bad for the Islamic League. While during the cease-fire, Emir Saddam Kemal managed to crush the rebellion and drowned Cairo in blood along the way, that didn’t increase his popularity. When the British forces (aided by their Sudanese allies who seized control of the territory in Sudan east and west from Nile) continued the offensive and routed Egyptians, linking up with the British forces in Suez area, the rebellion begun in Alexandria itself. General Saddam Gaziyadd led the military coup, promising democracy and imprisoning Saddam Kemal. Soon enough, the new Egyptian government announced it’s unconditional surrender.

(-1 British division, -2 Egyptian divisions)

And finally, the expert Oceanian Marines, backed by the Royal Navy and an Incan army ordered to invade South Arabia should the cease-fire be broken, have landed in South Arabia. Resistance against them was much heavier then expected, and the extensive beachhead became a bloodbath, until the Incans arrived. Arabs retreated into the desert, knowing that Oceanians will not be able to pursue them there.

(-6 Oceanian divisions, -2 Incan divisions, -5 Arab divisions)

So the war is not yet over. Not only that – it is about to become WWII, as some predict, as Russia is obviously backing Arabia, and news leaked to the press (namely the opposition newspaper “Volniye Vesti”, “Free News”), despite much censoring, that Russian forces are preparing to move by the Moscow-Baghdad railroad.

The Pakistani rebel forces have surrendered to India. However, the fight is not over, apparently – the leadership of Pakistani Resistance escaped capture, and a Pakistani terrorist wounded the Indian Emperor the next week.

China joins the EPAN.

In Japan, the propaganda project “Rise of the Tiger” has succeeded in bringing twenty more divisions into the Japanese Imperial Army.

Random Events:

In India, the confidence of non-Muslim peoples in government is growing (+1 Culture), as is the popularity of the new project (sped up by one turn).

In China, a nation-wide financial crisis takes place, due to overpopulation and several other economic failures (-2 Economy). It stabilized recently, and Chinese economy should be back on track soon, granted that the government takes necessary measures.

Spotlight:

Occitanian Civil War.

“We have endured the French, we shall defeat the English!”
- Richardus Bohemondum’s warcry during the Occitanian Rising. 1520.

Before the Turkish War, despite even the WWI, Occitania remained a calm and prosperous kingdom it has been ever since it’s first king, Richardus Bohemondum, won it’s independence from the English using the distraction of the Second Maximillianic War raging in Burgundy and France. However, already in 1901 several underground movements appeared. Some called for a republic. Some, inspired by the works of Karl Marx, the Sioux (and later the German) Republics and the unfortunately-doomed Chernigov Commune, formed the largely-illegal Occitanian Communist Party, and People’s Liberation Army, popularly known as the Ocet-Cong. King Henris VI’s brother Andreus and his followers wanted to reinstate the Absolute Monarchy – a group from which the fascist Honourum du Nationalus split apart from later. Catalonian separatists were gaining strength and rebelled in 1908.

Then the ideal opportunity came for all of these groups in 1909, when Arabs bombed Marseilles with chlorine gas. Amongst the million casualties was King Henris and his family, and the whole Occitanian Parliament, including the famed “Gascognian Wizard”, Prime Minister Louis Chaberouth. Everyone used that opportunity. Juan de Barcelona declared formation of the Catalonian Republic. Charlum Bourderus declared Communist Revolution and started the Marseilles Commune in the depopulated city, turning it into ruins but prevailing there, at least. Andreus retreated to Toulouse, where the royalist Archbishop of Avignon crowned him Andreus II. General Petain retired from the military to take command of the Honourum du Nationalus forces in Nice. All sides requested foreign intervention. By Christmas 1910, positions were more or less established – the Fascists took the east, the Communists the middle, the Royalists the west, Republicans and Constitutionalists were purged and slaughtered en masse by all three sides. Oh, and Catalonia was left alone.

In 1910, as soon as the three sides consolidated their positions, major offensives begun. Fascist “volunteers” arrived to Nice from Burgundy, just in time as the Fascist control over Northern Savoy was challenged by German interventionist forces, while the Italian troops approached Nice itself (though they were later beaten back by the volunteers). The Fascists soon enough stopped Ocet-Cong’s eastward advance at spa town of Vichy – this was compensated when Corsica was occupied by the Communist fleet. Furthermore, thanks to Italian and German help, Communists reached Toulouse.

They offered Andreus a chance to surrender, but he declared that the Royalists will fight to the last man. His control was limited to Toulouse now, but it was turned into a city-fortress, and Communists were repulsed with many losses. The “Toulouse Stand” made Andreus a very popular figure in Great Britain, and many people in Britain and France requested that King Chris I sends troops to save his distant relative and “Occitania’s Last Best Hope”.

NPC Diplomacy:

*secret*
From: Dominion of Twelve Colonies
To: People’s Republic of Germany

We are glad that at least some on the old world care about what happens in America. We congratulate you on the successes in Mexico, and promise that next turn we shall attack the Iroquois – it is vital to our security.
*secret*

From: Occitanian Royalists
To: Great Britain

We request immediate assistance. Surely you understand, that if Fascists or Communists will come to power in Occitania, they will then look on your part of France. We could hold out for another year or two, but that is the maximum. While there still is time, please, send us your support! Your fleet, your army, your air force! We understand that you are busy fighting for the safety of your colonies; but what about your possessions in Europe? We must give the Reds and Fascists a route, here and now. We need your help.

From: Scandinavia
To: Russia and Finland

We demand that you immediately return the rightfully ours territory you have stolen during the METO War.

From: Egypt
To: UK and Brazil

We announce our unconditional surrender. We also ask you to allow us to trial the bloodthirsty dictator Saddam Kemal ourselves.

From: Turkey
To: Both sides involved in the Turkish War

This war isn’t getting anywhere. While we are willing to stand by Arabia’s side to the bitter end, we think it is better if peace is signed. We propose the following – Libya and Turkey are recognized as independent nations on the territory they control, so is Sudan. The Occitanian territory under Liberian control will be given to Incans under temporary control, as is the Eastern Italian (now Arabian) Central Africa. If you do not want that deal, then suggest something else. We want this war to end.

OOC:

Everyone, since the (Turkish) war is still on, I won’t update the nation backgrounds yet. Neither did the Toliera Accords took place, as Jason said not to start them in case the war continues.

Note the Occitania is NOT France. Until 19th century, Languedoc and Provance pretty much had an independent culture, a one which in the Middle Ages often defied the Northern French. Their culture is commonly known as Occitanian culture, thus Occitania.

Ocitannian Royalists (dark blue), Ocitannian Communists (somehow redish) and Oceanian Fascists (light blue) now all have their own, separate, stats.

To Arabia

Explain yourself! We asked for a ceasefire as we worked out a peace treaty! Then we get the call from Oceania that the ceasefire's broken! What in bloody hell goes on here?!

OOC: The British broke the ceasefire, the local commander claims it was due to the Egyptian massacre of rebels in Cairo.

To: Germany and Italy
From: Burgundy
You are stealing lands that belong to the Occitanians. Immediately return them or we too will enter the war!

From: Italy
To: Burgundy

No, we are not. We are liberating it from the Occitanian fascists. Don't worry, once the Communist Occitanians reach them, we shall turn these lands over to them.

Crap......

Quote from first page:
Arabian Reconstruction (+3 Economy) (1/5)

Counter-Culture Militarization (+3 army) (1/5)
Given that economy can be increased by 1/turn, while army can be increased by 3/turn, aren't these times a little out of whack?

To: Italy
From: Burgundy
If that is your answer, then you will see many Burgundian soldiers liberating land from the Occitanian communists next month!
