i don't know. it must be your PC b/c it runs fine on mine.

it has fast load times primarily b/c of the size of the map (134x130). making it w/ less civs can also shorten load times but it takes everything away from the scenario.

to be honest, i'd rather not alter the original TCW scenario b/c, well, it took me forever to make and i don't want to compromise the balances, etc.

the good news, however, is that i'm now in the process of making a 'spin-off' of TCW. it's called "TCW - The Domino Theory" and will have 8 civs instead of the 30 in TCW Original. essentially, it's a Vietnam War scenario based off of the TCW folders. it may be a while before it's done. i can't venture to estimate when it'll be finished but it should be available within a month or so.
 
err please help, my forces are about to bring socialism to the Afgans and look what happended? please help as i am really enjoying this scenario.

Can anyone help me please? also when i try and look on some of the civpedia entries for guerilla war and advanced air defense the game likewise crashes, but this is not a big deal. Any hlep would be appreciated!!
 
Read the first few pages, there is a fix for that error.
 
thanks that sorted it. Jut one thing i noticed that on all the screenshots posted the terrain is different to standed, is there something i have to change?

And also how do the Soviets/Warsaw Pact player get to plant spies?

i've never expereinced those erorrs before. to be honest, i've never tried to switch govt types. so, this i can't explain.

as for the Civilopedia entries for the techs, this error does not occur for me.

you've DL'ed the latest version of TCW? i posted it yesterday morning.

regarding the terrain, it's simply a certain terrain pack that i'm using that you see in the screenies. it diifers from the standard civ3 terrain. that's all...

re planting spies:
IIRC, you simply need to go to the Espionage screen and 'pay' for your spy mission. also, there are 'Spy' type units in the scenario. Warsaw Pact has "KGB Operatives' and they are the only ground unit that can pillage tile improvements and they also have 'hidden nationality' (good for stealing workers from your enemies)
 
Thanks for the feedback, my main grumble regarding spies is that you cant plant one to see the enemy forces you can normally spot when yuo goto F3 and examine you military in comparison with the other nations.

Zalcron,

you should be able to 'plant' a spy...i'm not sure why you've encountered a problem like this.

on another note, i noticed that the "US Airborne Infantry" unit was missing a range on its airdrop ability...bleh

this shouldn't affect game reults too much but if you're playing as USA, it's be nice to be able to operate the airborne wing.

i'm gonna upload version 1.4 after i finish typing this post.
 
Hey El I just got back from my swim meet (we lost but who cares it's jsut swiming)

I am still up for PBEM. I have an idea why not combine some of the countrieson the world map. Make 6 super powers like America+Canada, Spain+Italy+Greece+London+W germany+France+England, and so on an so forth. And we need to just have to where when you pick to be like lets say russia you can create soe chineese units and other stuff. But don't worry about the comp ok....because this is a Multiplayer map and the comp wont play.......especially if you get a multiplayer version set up. Because I will start a new thread that is PBEM have people sign up to play (will save a spot for any one on this thread that has been helping) and I will run the whole shabang.

So please get a Multiplayer map set up soon.

a MP/PBEM version of TCW is unfeasable; at least on a world map.

combing all of those civs to meet the 8 civ limit is a little much. by this i mean that i'd have to go through all of the build ques and who is able to build what, etc. it's just too much for me right now and it seems like lumping all of the civs together just dillutes the whole thing. i'd rather have and use a map for MP/PBEM that is specifically suited for MP rather than 'rigging' the TCW map.

i'm working on such a thing right now. it's a Vietnam type scenario based entirely off of the TCW. its specifics aren't completely nailed down yet but i'm sifting through some options. it might be a little while though b/c of my course load at school this semester but it is definitely in the works.

also, i had already opened a PBEM thread in that forum before i realized that there'd be that silly 8 civ limit. it's now dedicated to the Vietnam scenario and its specs.

as for whether you need to DL the new files, yes and no.

yes, you should DL the latest biq file but no to the large DL file.
 
some USA play-test:

i chose the "Sid" level to see what all the fuss is about :mischief:

it's been fairly difficult to say the least...i've been evicted from s korea and w germany. no cities lost but i've ben pummeled by the Soviet Tu 95 Bear heavy bomber. the AI, for as stupid as it usually is, has managed to cripple my transport units both in-port and at sea. i managed to get some onto Cuba but air defense/interceptors and a strong naval AA is seemingly a must. i've managed to knock down a few Bears each turn.

i've spent nearly every bit of reserve gold on improvements & spy missions to steal techs. i filched Ecology from the scandinavians and Rocketry from the Japanese. i got caught by the Canadians trying to steal a tech.

F105s and Delta Daggers are the backbone of my air defence. the Flak unit is also a cheap alternative.

Oct '64: i manage to split Cuba in half and take Cienfuegos w/ a half a dozen M60 divisions and some infantry.

the soviets have managed to occupy nearly all of asia minor and has taken a portion of SE Asia.

ME positions remain the same.

portions of W Germany have fallen to the soviets.

Ok thank you I almost dl the big one.

Ya and if you can't get the vietnam one in time I will just make a complete random map and make it the MP but of course I must have your permission first. (I won't add or take any units away. Just fix some stats.)

It's supposed to be that way to reduce loading times ;)
 
So there's no way to get a version with fullsize citys in the first turn (So each of them needs about 2 turns to grow so I will have to play 2*19 turns till they are full size... thats long time to play)
Is it posible to change it in the C3Ceditor?
All in all a really nice scen!
And I thougt Typhoons would have come a little bit later but perhaps it's just gamebalancing...

Made a few biq changes to eliminate some annoying transportation issues with the American bases in Europe (basically added a few road tiles where railroads enter cities so that they dont have to spend a million turns transferring).

Also: Cubans, Yugoslavians, Chinese and 'Commies' are building the Serbian barracks at start... kinda kinky

Playing on Sid with AI set to highest aggression as Amurica! ;p

Played for a bit, and I have to say that I am def enjoying myself! America has been fighting all over the world and it really is quite fun to play with the airplanes ;p

I got booted out of Korea almost casually by the Chinese... but now they are starting to feel the burn of thousands of tons of NAPALM! Cuba is mine, despite minimal infantry involvement. Might want to change the names of the GLs, because it is weird to get Washington, and then Lee, as a result of a marine intervention haha.
