umm, woooahhh! <curtsies> !!! well, thanks darkonion, i guess. I'm just here as comic relief and in hopes of learning how to mod stuff for myself to share with all of you hip cats. Well, Saverous,Typhoid Mary, and I are going for a night out! We be going sneaking into the Pink Cadillac tonight! I am a happily enganged man. Though the fiancee is some 3000 miles absent, i've no need to troll "the internets" for other fishies in the virtual sea.

I too get protective, but only in real life. Here on the interenet, our lostkitten may well be 40 years old, have 3 kids, be a grizzled man, and be from Talooka.
But on the internet, we are whoever we want to say we are. Doesnt really matter, as long as its entertaining. And never taken too seriously.

I think the only requirement to rent a car here is to have a drivers license and be able to pay for it, although there arent many places to rent cars here though... Actually never seen a place.

15 - Could go to more movies, buy certain games with that age limit, etc. You can drive a moped (big deal down here). You are punishable by law. You cannot be sentenced to time in prison between the age 15-18, and between 18-21 only if there is a good reason for it. It's the age where you can legally have sexual relations with someone who is punishable by law (i.e its not illegal for two 14 year olds to have sex, but it's illegal for a 15 year old to have sex with a 14 year old).

16 - You can start practicing driving.

18 - You get to vote! Was a big deal for me. Even if you're not considered a minor at age 15, you are now considered an adult. You can get a drivers license, etc.
 
a 13 year old might not realize the need for a pen name.... she just flaunts her info... so i reacted and found none to fault...... so yeah... happy thread-posting.... =D
 
I think the states does it backwards too.

16 should be the age of alcohol, you know, train people to not be stupid drunken idiots, especially when parents are still around and can teach moderation.

18 should be the drivers age, people A) know more about alcohol by this point, so that means less drunk driving, and secondly, it means you dont have stupid hormones running through you trying to impress peers. Not to mention a general decrease in the "Need for speed".

well, its not like the drinking age stopped me from drinkin before i reached it, and insurance is just gambling, but ya im younger than 24 so its an annoyance to not be allowed.. but ive done it anyways! :p but read into the renting licenses and you'll see.. i think some credit cards and plans might require around that age as well

No doubt. I've always owned a car, or at least had regular access to one I didnt need pay for. So the Rental issue never has come up.

By the by, I'm getting good at this whole "Internet detectivity"

Besides, while a few things you've said might alude to age, I've been puzzeling over it for a while, and im still not certain enough to hedge a guess.

People generally think I'm younger then I am when they see me. And older then I really am when they chat with me online.

Well that didnt tell me anything I didnt already know.
Clues come in many forms, but evidence is usually clear. Grammer is key, not content. Content, is elusive, for example, if Sureshot was talking about her grandchildren, it could mean shes 40, or 80. Not very useful. But if she talks about her 21st birthday in "recent past" language, that can help discern things. Or when she spoke of "at" 24, in a tone that suggested immenant future (although i will admit it was a good atempt at neutrality, the key however, was the rest of the sentance).

Stuff like that. For particularly young people, like kitten and kid. Or "Double K Trouble" as I'll be starting to call them from now on, usually include their ages IN their names because age is still a viable aspect of identity at those ages.
