Considering the number of people who claim to be prophets for Him ... no, it would not be better. If there was a 1% chance of each of them being an actual prophet, the world would suck.

No it would mean rules of science have to be broken and that we are all at the mercy of one guy.

God doesnt exist because he violates the rules of science? Well, if the 'rules of science' are that powerful, then science is your god. All youve done is strip the homespun robe off of God and made him put on a lab coat.

This is a strange question. It as you are implying that God have existed and then all of the sudden does not and then say 'if' as God have disappeared or not.

Why would you estimate that if a deity exists it would have such a substantial chance of it having the properties these nincompoops assigned it? 1%? That's insane.

To reply to the original question of the thread: Not really. It wouldn't be better. It simply offsets the question of "why do we exist" to another entity in escrow. Doesn't change the fact that the original question still exists and applies equally to the escrow agent.

Nihil: do you have a 'sane' way of estimating the number of current prophets that would be 'real' if God existed? :)

There's no way to estimate such an event.

If god existed and the world was as it is today: it would be bad.
If god existed and actually took an interest in things and actually made existance better: it would be good.

I voted yes because I was coming from the point of view that god would step in our daily lives (and we would actually see him) and make things better. Also, there would be no hell, unless god was an a**hole, in which case, nonexistance after death is preferable.

Should the question be:"Would it be better if God have existed?"

Contrary to:"Would it be better if God does exist?"

Vs.

"Would it be better if God would exist?"

Contrary to:"Would God be better if not existed?
