If you were fanatical, your owner would be registered here longer than I am registered at Apolyton :p.

ooohhh... that was below the belt, Solver

BRAVO! :p

I am not a diplomat and, as such, I am not fully conversant with the elegant and rarefied language of the diplomatic trade. I have a reputation for saying what I mean and meaning what I say. So I trust that you'll forgive me if I come across as a bit blunt when I state that Civjunction's biases are a blatantly obvious and cleverly orchestrated script, carefully concocted to stultify art and ****** the enjoyment and adoration of the beautiful. Permit me this forum to rant.

Civjunction contends that space aliens are out to lay eggs in our innards or ooze their alien hell-slime all over us. Excuse me, but where exactly did this little factoid come from? The essential point, however, is the following: If one dares to criticize even a single tenet of Civjunction's tracts, one is promptly condemned as pea-brained, ignominious, soulless, or whatever epithet Civjunction deems most appropriate, usually without much explanation. The bottom line is that I have put thispost before you, without any gain to myself, because I care.

a pay-for model for key operations including "Game of the Month", "Hall of Fame"

   Come on folks, this gives the joke away.

OK, I love HOF :) . And when I used to have more free time, I enjoyed GotM. But thinking people will be willing to pay to participate? Just so they can see their names listed on an web page titled "HOF"? (heck, it's not even my real name!). It's not THAT big of an honor, and will be less so in the future (knowing that many good players will no longer be participating). Oh wait! I almost forgot... you also are buying the right to win a little .gif of a gold medal from GOTM. :dubious:

OK, I have a new idea... everybody send me $5 and I'll give you TWO .gifs of gold medals!

Either this is a good April fool's joke, or someone is stoned... :smoke:

since this was the entire point of your "rant" permit me a retort... The paranoia and fear shown here by the "Fanatics" is actually quite disturbing to say the least. The fact that this has caused a "civil war" on your site while we at 'Poly are laughing and joking is EVIDENCE of the comparison of the maturity level of the said sites. That being said i now leave you with my famous tagline that has made me famous in several chat/forum sites for over a decade...

@Hawk, don't know if you saw yet, but HOF isn't going to Junction...

wanna see why this is a joke: go to http://www.civjunction.com/ and hit the downloads link, you will end up in http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php which belongs only to civfanatics
nice joke, by the way:p

Several of the links there are basically placeholders for the time being. The File Database is currently CFC, but will be transferred to CivJunction, and any files hosted at Apolyton that are not duplicated here will be transferred onto it. Although the site is up and running, the merging process will take a little time, as the old sites gradually wind down and transfer operations over there.

(Of course, didn't read all the comments)

This doesn't look like a joke. It's way too well coordinated to be a joke. I really hope aneeshm is right in saying that it's a test to see how the communities would react, but I doubt it.

What I'm most worried about isn't the pay-for GOTMs, or the uncertain future of mods and such, but the look and feel of the site. Will there be a CFC skin? Will there be Pale White? Will the non-civ sections be the same? Are the 'Poly people really purple airplane eaters like I've heard? From what I've seen when I went to 'Poly, the people aren't as interesting as those on CFC (although their OT guys and our OT guys are pretty much carbon copies of each other).

I propose that on the Civ Junction site, all us CFC people show it in our sigs that we are um, CFC people.

Well coordinated
A announcement on the respective sites, and a single page on a new site (all the other pages link to existing pages). Must have taken them AT LEAST 40 minutes to do this.
Kudos to them if they got anyone I guess :goodjob:

Aw, come on, AAHZ. It's a joke! The "civil war" is just another delightful parody. No quarter for Poly's!

You may be laughing and joking on the outside, aahz, but on the inside... oh, you quake. You quake, my friend. :mischief:

Wow OT is quickly descending into anarchy. I can barely see a few threads not related to we hate appolyton.

Really fun threads to read. :goodjob: Cheers all.

I also notice the users online and lurkers in poly have doubled. It seems 5-10 CFC-ers are visiting.

Hey I just realized, members of CivJunction will be "JUNKIES"

When I began writing this post, I had the notion that I would write about something positive and optimistic instead of going on about how fatuitous Civjunction is. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of anything particularly positive to write about. So, instead, I'll just tell you that Civjunction's hatchet men do not concern themselves much with the people around them. For starters, what we're involved in with Apolyton is not a game. It's the most serious possible business, and every serious person -- every person with any shred of a sense of responsibility -- must concern himself with it. Someone once said to me, "The mistaken claim that the laws of nature don't apply to Apolyton is not only incorrect but is somewhat telling of Apolyton's core sentiments." This phrase struck me so forcefully that I have often used it since. And that, in my view, is our real problem. Piece.

Here's another telling quote: "Some may ask why we are taking this significant step now. To them I say, why not now?"
Now, of course, is April 1.
