a pay-for model for key operations including "Game of the Month", "Hall of Fame"
If one dares to criticize even a single tenet of Civjunction's tracts, one is promptly condemned as pea-brained, ignominious, soulless, or whatever epithet Civjunction deems most appropriate, usually without much explanation.
Could someone (that is not a CivFanatic) tell these people the proper noun for an Apolyton user. (I haven't been there long enough to know)
wanna see why this is a joke: go to http://www.civjunction.com/ and hit the downloads link, you will end up in http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php which belongs only to civfanatics
nice joke, by the way![]()
(Of course, didn't read all the comments)
This doesn't look like a joke. It's way too well coordinated to be a joke. I really hope aneeshm is right in saying that it's a test to see how the communities would react, but I doubt it.
What I'm most worried about isn't the pay-for GOTMs, or the uncertain future of mods and such, but the look and feel of the site. Will there be a CFC skin? Will there be Pale White? Will the non-civ sections be the same? Are the 'Poly people really purple airplane eaters like I've heard? From what I've seen when I went to 'Poly, the people aren't as interesting as those on CFC (although their OT guys and our OT guys are pretty much carbon copies of each other).
I propose that on the Civ Junction site, all us CFC people show it in our sigs that we are um, CFC people.
since this was the entire point of your "rant" permit me a retort... The paranoia and fear shown here by the "Fanatics" is actually quite disturbing to say the least. The fact that this has caused a "civil war" on your site while we at 'Poly are laughing and joking is EVIDENCE of the comparison of the maturity level of the said sites. That being said i now leave you with my famous tagline that has made me famous in several chat/forum sites for over a decade...

Polytubbie.
When I began writing this post, I had the notion that I would write about something positive and optimistic instead of going on about how fatuitous Civjunction is. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of anything particularly positive to write about. So, instead, I'll just tell you that Civjunction's hatchet men do not concern themselves much with the people around them. For starters, what we're involved in with Apolyton is not a game. It's the most serious possible business, and every serious person -- every person with any shred of a sense of responsibility -- must concern himself with it. Someone once said to me, "The mistaken claim that the laws of nature don't apply to Apolyton is not only incorrect but is somewhat telling of Apolyton's core sentiments." This phrase struck me so forcefully that I have often used it since. And that, in my view, is our real problem. Piece.since this was the entire point of your "rant" permit me a retort...
