Anyway, no shame in losing an OCC Immortal game. Our last ditch effort could be to try to instigate a world war (JC versus Izzy). Try to gift Izzy as much tech as possible prior to that, if we are going to try it.
It is a got it but don't expect me to play it until tomorrow ( if I wanted a skip I would ask explicitely for it, Mr Fox )
Instigating a JC vs Izzy war is a desperate move, but IMHO it is the only one we still have in our pocket that can bring victory home. But I do not have much of hope: like I posted before JC has 2-3 times more soldiers than Izzy and his army is better equiped.... The only thing that it can give us is time...
well, of course there's always the possibility that all JCs vassals make it so that he DOESN'T break the Dom limit after taking out Gil and Izzy. Then he'd come after us -- at least it would gain us 50 turns or so
@ rolo: are you saying i ain't winning many SGs lately? well, that's true
Checked JC avaliability for a war as well... He would , but it looks like Superconductors isn’t good enogh ( like if i was going to give him a SS tech now )
Turn 2 – I love when the AI does this....
Spoiler:
I even forgot that the AP was still active....
Spoiler:
Voted Izzy ( brownie diplo points )
Turn 3 – Our city is more healthy:
Spoiler:
Gone to Izzy for buying the last SS related tech that AI is willing to sell:
Spoiler:
We could have won the AP election......
Spoiler:
Turn 4 –Finished thruster, started Stasis chamber ( we should focus on the essential SS parts: we may have a chance with a less than perfect SS )
JC has Manhattan, probably from a GE (isn’t the fusion one ). Next war will be a big bang....
Turn 5 – Izzy proposed a DP.... Looks like she’s trying to isolate JC diplomatically. I said no, but the option is still open. JC is still not ploting war ATM
Spoiler:
UN vote..... thinked for a while and abstained. No diference anyway....
Spoiler:
Got a GS..... the best he can do is a GA, I would keep it for the engine time in normal circunstances. But we may not even get there, so carpe diem.... GA it is.
Turn 6 – JC also knows a bad joke or two:
Spoiler:
It shows that JC has computers.....And JC is 13 votes away from a Diplo win ( thank god that Gilga vassalized to Izzy.... or this game would be over right here )
Spoiler:
We have a revolt in Mainz.... does not matter much unless it flips, and that is not very likely
Spoiler:
Turn 8 – JC built SDI and has Fiber Optics ( he’ll get the Fusion GE most surely )
Turn 9 – Made a “ rip money from beaten civ” deals
Spoiler:
This will keep us afloat @ 100% for some more turns.
Turn 10 – 2 corps were founded ( one JC other by HRE ) .JC builds the SS cockpit

Thoughts
We're navigating between Cila and Caridibis here.... if we create a war between JC and Izyy, we'll lose by Diplo ( if JC captures a city from anyone ) or Dom and if we don't JC will launch a SS far before us ( he only lacks Fusion and Superconductors to be able to build all the SS parts ). Regardless of that we still have a slim change of winning..... If all of the below items are checked:
- JC prepares for a war but does not launch it in time
- JC behaves like a normal AI and builds 2 engines before launch
- We do a barebone SS ( 1 ( maybe 2 or 3, if possible ) casing, 1 engine ( 2 would be ideal, but I doubt that we'll have a chance )), letting our SS be faster than JC one
- Have a ton of luck for our SS
Besides that this game is done....
Good luck, pholk ( you're definitely going to need it )!
P.S The bad joke
Spoiler:
As this one is, one way or another, ending, I want to propose to our talented, fearless and briliant SG leader ( and a lot of other things that he forced to say with the threat of a whip ....( sorry for stealing this one Bindamel... ) ) a chalenge for Fox-"whatever number Fox puts in it":
No worker paradise
Rules:
- We may not build workers
- Every worker we capture should be released from his slave life with the "delete" button
Crazy enough?
P.S. Only noticed now that we are a 5 star thread.... cool
Pretty good play ... I can't see how I could have played better. Now, we can try two things: (1) get Izzy to war with JC, hopefully with her new vassal she would be more a distraction for JC, or (2) get our spies running.
Both have very slim chance of success, and high probability of backfire.
Re the joke: ... I doubt it is even doable at Noble level. Maybe on an archipelago map.
Well, mr fox, bring this one home ( in a ambulance )
If I'm allowed to launch a final notes, I'm quite suprised that we survived until XX century , and still being figthing for a win.... taking in account that only Izzy and the deceased Darius didn't Dowed us during the game, that is not a small feat in any regard.
Well, about my suggestion , I add a talk some months ago with cabert about this ( he said that he would launch it until October, but it looks that he forgot it ) and I bet that it would be more easibly done in a pangea map with a resorceless UU civ. Why? Because we could use the already improved terrain to our advantage and the lack of terrain development leads most surely to a military path ( to not give time to the AI to run away in front of us )
A wife has always wanted to help her shy husband who had insisted on making love in the dark throughout their four years of marriage, and this faithful night, she decided to surprise her husband by turning on the lights in the middle of the act.
To her shock, her husband was using a didlo on her. In rage, she cried "you impotent son of a b!tch!!! Had you been faking it all these years!?"
"yes ... and speaking of 'son of the b!tch', perhaps you would like to explain our 3 year-old son?"
My last two whips for Pholky ...
WHERE's MY JOKE?
This is the most sloppy play I ever seen!
The coal is just sitting there in ruins (pun intended). Mine it for whatever-god-pholk-believes-in's sake!!! It will add hammer to IW, it will allow us to rail the mines and add more hammers. With all this hammers, we might have already won!!!!
Anyway, question is why haven't we lost?
Seems to me JC has built all the needed (and un-needed) parts. Well, guess it takes a while for the ship to fly to Alpha Centuri. Meanwhile, what we have been waiting for:
Imagine 6 mushroom clouds:
And finally, the lost mesage:
Surprisingly, Munich was not the top city (must be due to the cathedrals Izzy built in Madrid).
And we are listed as the Unready.
I think we did extremely well, better than expected. Sure luck was on our side where we were declared. And ofcourse, there were moments of weed (myself included). But all in all, I must say it was an excellent, entertaining and educational game. And thanks for the bad jokes.
Well, I think that we lost this one when we didn't got coal.... if we had coal in any other square than that HRE city , our prod would almost doubled ( because of the railroad and of the IW and Coal plant prod bonuses with coal ( well, the non defy on abandoning Beauro didn't helped either : p ) ). With that we may had built the barebone ( or not ) SS in time to surpass JC one.... oh well ,when does Fox- 9 (?) starts?
Thanks for the entertaining game team. It's a pity we couldn't bring it home but I think there's a big luck factor in high level OCC's that you just can't control. That and we all made our fair share of mistakes during the game too
I was actually thinking the same thing earlier as I was looking over Fox's personal website (which, btw, there's a mistake w/the Fox numbering on THAT page, too )
Huh? I don't see anything wrong with my numbering!
Okay, re the next Fox game ... hmmm ... OCC-AW? It will be really interesting to see how the BtS supposedly-better AI fare in the a high difficulty OCC-AW archipelago map. It must be archipelago, for anything higher than Prince. Any other non-world-built map will be pure suicide.
However, I hear rumor of an extremely popular SG series (and I think every player on this roster is in the current incarnation of that SG series) planing for an OCC-AW for the next run ... so I don't know whether I should steal it.
Regarding Fox-09.... I heard that rumour too ... playing 2 OCC AW would somewhat redundant, but I'm not sure if even a third of the current players of the SG series we're talking would like to play a OCC AW.... So why not OCC- AW ?
Id like to join any OCC game including AW. I like to play OCC domination games on Monarch or Emperor. Its not allways war, but its fun. It revolves around taking steel from Lib and researching chemistry for grennies. The downside is, you need to turn vassals off. If they are on, even if they are down to their last city, they may not capitulate to you, but to someone else.....the downside to that is you need to raze every city.
