Here is another set that I have removed a lot of the unnecessary paved roads and bits of rail. Have also removed virtually all the buildings and shrubs.
I have been using many more resources than I have in the past and wanted to remove some of the unnecessary clutter.

I like these, but instead of telephone lines, I am using them as telegraph lines in combination with a telegraph tech. Nice work.

2010 Railroad Project
Since there doesn't seem to be much interest on the preview thread, I we will post the previews here, as this is where the final file will be posted.
About 25% finished, the most dense tiles are the first, that's why the preview looks pretty busy, just trying to get show what has been finished so far, I think I got most of the terrain types in the preview.
There are still remnants of the old rails showing in the preview as I'm building on an extisting file, notice the size difference. It's only one additional pixel wider, but looks like much more and allows me to give a different perspective.

This preview does look quite realistic how the terrain is visible between the railroad ties, especially at civ scale. Are those stray buildings going to be part of the file too? That's what I liked about your old rails.

I'll start by releasing a clean set.
It is easy to add buildings after, so maybe a second set with buildings, bridges, etc....

Should I put some little bridges on a couple of tiles (green circle) or should I leave everything at a level crossing (red circle).

Not sure... how would the bridge look in NE direction (/) instead of S (|)?
I'm downloading the 4.7 version for now. It looks great!

-you might like doing previews on Snoopy's or Rhye's terrains, many people here use those
-about those bridges... is there any way to make bridges and the like show only on hills and mounatins? Sorry for the noobish question but I've never modded terrain or improvements.

Maybe something like this.
It's not that easy to get the perspective right with so few pixels.
Maybe I'll just stick with the level crossings for now.

I think this is what I will go with on two tiles.
It doesn't stand out too much, blends in better with the mod and I think it gets the point across.
I will convince myself that they are poured concrete.
