The site was down for about 4 hours today, from 5:37 PM ET to 9:37 PM ET.

Our host Atomic Gamer was creating an index on the server which should help with the forum performance. However, the database became corrupt for some reason and they had to repair it.

Looks like everything is working again now...

Sorry for the downtime and inconvenience!

During the downtime, I setup a WordPress blog over at CivFanatics.Net. In the future we will be posting status updates there during site downtime or maintenance.

Bookmarked. Thanks for the update :)

Well, when Atomic Gamer first started creating the index, they didn't bring the server down. Browsing the forum was ok but it made making posts very slow. People probably clicked the submit button multiple times. To speed up the index creation, they later shut down the web server.

PS: I have deleted the dup posts in that thread.

Thanks TF, that'll be useful.

Is this the cause of the massive multiple posts in some threads?
Like this one?

EDIT: Never mind, seems to be unique to that thread.
Oh, it wasn't unique to that thread, Cheezy did one sometime this morning or last night where he quintuple-posted. Then a mod deleted four of them, making my subsequent comment make no sense. There's likely a few more bobbing around here and there.

the database seems to have problems with posts posted just prior to the downtime - this poster has 5 posts in the thread (had I should say :mischief:) however his postcount only shows 2... Apparently it does not register the ones made during the indexing while the forum was online.

edit: and now after deleting the double posts he has 0 postcount :crazyeye: link

Thanks for the heads up TF. I figured it was something on the host side. I ended up quad posting a report for an SG, but ori helped me out with it, so all is well.

Could someone get a negative postcount that way? That'd be cool.
