Religion and War
Landar uses its feast spell in a constructive manner again. By expending considerable magic, the quality of life rises for its tribesmen. This greater happyness means construction of another village can begin.Telak experiments with a very novel use of its magic. They noticed that fish were attracted to certain areas of the river and coasts. These areas are bordered by particular trees which produce a tiny fruit that insects seem to enjoy. The insects fly over the waters and become prey to the fish below. As well as this, these trees grow large roots directly into the waters and the fish like to hide amongst these roots. Using their Growth spell to grow seeds of these trees, they line the rivers and coasts of Telak land. Their roots no longer form hiding spots for the fish, but instead natural traps and nets that tribesmen can harvest with ease.

Augmenting their magical powers, they sacrifice the village they recent captured from Carquas and construct a totem:

OOC This tale is told from the point of view of Kibyan, the narrator of The Earth Thirsts. It has been approximately 8 months since she witnessed the Botono Ilman sacrifice Carquos warriors for the sake of the islands orisha. Kibyan is now an apprentice priestess and Ilmans personal assistant. She has learnt much of mysticism and the spirits but has yet to come to terms with blood sacrifices demanded by the islands orishas.
The drummers beat out a faster and faster tempo and the warm humidity of the jungle air seemed to pulse with their beat and with something greater. Sweat poured from the senior Botono as she whirled and danced amongst the bound captive causing her naked black skin to shine like polished obsidian and to reflect the many bonfires orange glow. Kibyan could feel it. Something was coming. Faster and faster the drums beat out furiously. Hotter and hotter the air swam with mystical energy. The Carquos, again bound with vines and jungle life stared with wide eyes filled with fear, pain and even anticipation. They strained against the binding plants but the plants tightened, animated with the spirits of the local orishas and strained back; there was no escape. The whites of the captives eyes were huge and their breathing fast, no doubt partially due to the vision-inducing mushrooms they had been forced to consume.
Kibyan too was dancing and she too was beating a boar-skin drum. The magic of the mushroom orishas brought vivid visions to life all around her. She could see the orishas flying through the air, breathing complex moving geometric patterns into her tribesmen, the plants, the earth, the fire, everything.
The beat reached a thundering crescendo; the drummers were about to reach their limits when suddenly Botono Ilman straightened and stiffened- he whole body seeming to take on a different posture, a different mannerism, a different spirit.
Kibyan could see the great orisha of Jeje had slipped into its favorite priestess. Others saw it too. The drums were silent now; it was obvious to everyone present that the summoning had succeeded.
Botono Ilman spoke in a loud, clear voice, These men and women- these Carquos are creatures of the island, of the land the beasts in their hearts are of another time. They are favoured of the fury and wolf orishas and I will not claim their lives. The possessed priestess lifted an arm and pointed at the captives as they stood in groups of 5-6, their backs towards each other and suddenly great pillars of rock grew from the earth with a tremendous ripping sound. The flames of the bonfires flickered and waves chaotically and many a Telak man and woman were horribly burnt; some lost their lives. The jungle itself was set afire. People everywhere began to run and scream. Kibyan scowled at them; the greatest orisha of the island was not to be disturbed or doubted. Her fellow tribesmen had dishonored the spirit with their base fear.
The apprentice priestess watched with amazement as vines and grasses grew up the columns finally reaching the bound captives as they hung suspended near the tops of the stone columns. The vines grew into the wolf-creatures, in and out of their skin, along their bones in thick inch-wide pulsating tendrils of the island itself. As Kibyan watched the vines grew out of ears, noses, mouths and even eyes and the Carquos began to take on a sinister grey pallor. Even as their skin seemed to tighten over their features and they shrunk visibly, the vines however began to pulse with a vital crimson glow- the beating of a heart- the beating of the prisoners heart. The prisoners were wounded but alive. Their blood fed the forest, the ground and the island but they would not be killed. They would remain trapped, forever prisoners to the whim of the islands greatest orisha.
You will feed these men and women children of Telak and you will have my blessing. These were the great orishas last words prior to abandoning Botono Ilmans body. The priestess collapsed to the ground, her eyes rolling about in her head like marbles in a bowl. Kibyan ran to her and put an arm around her. She pointed to the pillars with their vines and their captives as they fed the forest, Mistress, our sacrifice was accepted.
The Botono priestess spoke, Yes- I feel its magic in me. We must care for these children of the wolf. Henceforth this place shall be known as the garden and we shall be its tenders.
Carquas' Talkan finishes his training and the tribe learns to fling balls of fire. Tartes begin another shamans training; Deimos. He will learn the spell Puppet. When used against other person, it will force him or her to do anything the magic user wants them to do, as long as the user is within hearing range. The puppet need not to actually hear what the magic user says, as the orders can be given from the magic user's mind.

The combined forces of Telak, Tartes and Carquas are in unison against Fangar. They trade spells between themselves, but Fangar's redirect spell means none use these new spells in anger. Fangar assembles a massive force to defends its lands. These troops are better trained than the invading forces, and on home turf. It seems the combined generals of Telak, Tartes and Carquas were considerably over-estimating their luck. Telak and Carquas attack from the South of Fangar, with Tartes invading from the West. Tartes forces drive deep into Fangar land before news reaches them that chills them to the core. Landar forces, relishing a Tartes absent of defenders or Shaman launch a measured attack. They quickly capture the outlying village (the one previously of Gaak Vur's last stand) and then dig in. With Tartes distracted and needing to withdraw their small forces home, Fangar adds insult to injury by raiding across the border and burning a Tartes village to the ground. All does not go well for Fangar however, The combined forces of Carquas and Telak inflict considerable losses on their army, as well as capturing the southern most village. The battle field is bloody and difficult. To make much progress from the current borders, a considerable advantage will be needed.

Firas uses their impressive army to capture a village. The Army used is so vast the villagers don't even attempt to put up a fight. The first steps are taken towards understand Stone Mining and the benefits that will bring.
Imper's shamans travel throughout the nation, telling the Story of Imp, spreading his word to stop the fall of the world into Entropy.

In this, the combined forces of Mesaqoo, Norwal and Jorise attempted to bloody the nose of Byzan. The slightly problem is that the only tribe that really goes for it is Norwal; Mesaqoo and Jorise give but token gestures. Of the two and a half thousand men that Norwal sends to capture one village, the combined forces of Jorise and Mesaqoo number just pass eight hundred. When attacking a force of four and a half thousand, you can guess what the results might be. Sure enough, while the various waves, Imps and Wolves causing trouble, and armies turning against each other, there are heavy loses, but you try and lead a war with some barely trained warriors in the middle of a dense tropical jungle and see how well you do! Byzan knows some of the spells it will face and is prepared. Their men run from the coast at the sight of Mesaqoo canoes, and avoid much damage from its waves. It is the Imps that cause the biggest problems, the duration of their summoning is what prevents the damage being far greater.
There are other developments in Mesaqoo. Using the funds they recieved, they can complete Stone Mining in one fell swoop. Quality of life improves and the rebel town is placated. Their cacique Kimtumeh is killed by Iptsima after the oppression of Kimtumeh's people is just too much for Iptsima to bear. However, most people believe the change was for the better, and that without Iptsima's courage, life would have been far worse for the Mesaqoo. Izawau has taken on the role of Cacique, strongly backed by the warriors of the Mesaqoo, as well as his apprentice Iptsima. Along with his recent policy of favoring the common man, Izawau has cemented his place in power. His cunning tactics have no set him, and the Mesaqoo up for domination.
Sefosé are peaceful and respectful towards their neighbours, this impresses the villages around them and while not joining them, trade is initiated. Sefosé's canoes are used in training exercises along the river and while diminutive, Sefosé's men progress in their military training. There is only one small accident when one canoe travels too far down river, and is pulled out into sea. The few men it contained are not seen again.
