MilarNES II: Civilizations of the World

If I am not mistaken, there was a time (much before 1492) that there were horses somewhere in the Americas, don't know where exactly, but that they had become extinct at some point. Just presume that the horses survive and turn out to be much like the Old World ones.

Also, the deadline was reached 2 hours ago. I had already started to prepare the update yesterday, but the only change has been Flavius' orders. Expect it soon.

Africa
From now on, the African countries won't be totally isolated: the nations of Berberia and Carania have met, and finally Berberia has ended the enforced isolationism that was brought to them due to their distance to other nations in the continent. Both Berberia and Carania, plus Tripolitania, have developed new ways to feed their people, hoping to thus increase their populations and thus improve their economies and their armies in the future. Further to the east, Tripolitania continues with their societal stagnation in spite of their hard work in achieving new developments for the betterment of their population. Eskimogypt, their eastern neighbour, has become the most active nation of the region, working to find ways to extract better resources for the creation of sturdier buildings, has also started to develop a way to use the water of the Nile river in their favour and also continue with the construction of the sacred building of their religion.

Berberia: expands, discovers Fishing, +1% Imshal, meets Carania
Carania: expands, discovers Hunting, +1% Molok, meets Berberia
Eskimogypt: expands, discovers Stone Mining, investigates Agriculture (2/5), works on Holy Obelisks of Trianglism (5/10), +3% Trianglism
Tripolitania: expands, discovers Fishing

America
The American super-continent sees in these days how a new nation sprouts in its southern half. The Wanalu Theocracy, was at first a small tribe living in the mountains, but they soon gained a predominant position in the region thanks to several lucky strikes that allowed them to obtain more and better resources, which would cause a population boom that would be the main reason behind the organization of these people behind a government lead by their priests. Elsewhere in the continent, the first trading relationships sprout, which help diverse nations to obtain new things that they themselves don't have. The ones more poised to obtain a benefit from this are the Maya and the Taino, who, being at the centre of strategic positions in the continent, have managed to secure trading arrangements with each other and with other neighbours, which could eventually have them become the economic leaders of America.

Azteca: expands, works on Temple of the Gold (6/12), +3% Quetzalcoatl, opens trade with Maya
Ciboney: expands, works on Port Araw (7/8), +1% Animism, opens trade with Taino
Kingdom of Utul: expands, investigates Wheel (2/5), works on Xanatl Fishing Port (5.5/8), +3% Utulian Pantheon, opens trade with Tototl
Maya: expands, discovers Fire (+1 EC), +8% Mayan Polytheism, opens trade with Azteca and Taino
Nation of Prisma: chills (+1 Strike, money banked), +5% Cannabism
Taino: expands, discovers Ceremonial Burial (+5% Animism), +1% Animism
Tototl: expands, discovers Hunting, finishes Totco Bridge (+1 EC), +4% Xolapan, opens trade with Kingdom of Utul
Wanalu: +existence, expands, discovers Ceremonial Burial (+5% Jaguapi), +8% Jaguapi

Asia
In Asia, nations continue to expand at top haste in order to make place for their rising populations. The axis formed by Abalonia, Khambat, Ming and Yang is completed with the securing of trade agreements between Ming, Abalonia and Yang. It is Abalonia that has slowly become a big partner in the economy of the region, as they stand with the best economic power and is among the most advanced nations in the world. Also, the Middle Eastern block is finally completed when Iudean scouts encounter Empire riders just ahead of Mitanni Horsemen that were attempting to claim as much land as possible for their Confederacy. The last block of nations in Asia is that of the isolated ones, which are still too far away from the rest to manage to contact them, although the Yazidi Order and the Holy Arcadian Empire seem to be very near to do so, considering the fast expansion of the latter in the nearby islands.

Abalonia: expands, discovers Ceremonial Burial (+5% The Holy Cow), investigates Animal Husbandry (2/5), finishes Great Farms (+1 EC), +1% The Holy Cow, opens trade with Ming
Empire: expands, investigates Hunting (2/5), +8% Ancestor Worship, meets Iudea
Feicui Empire: expands, investigates Bartering (3/5), +3% Yu Qiong
Iudea: expands, discovers Animal Husbandry, works on Wandering Traders (4/8), +1% The Eye That All Sees, meets Empire
Khambat: expands, discovers Animal Husbandry, finishes Agricultural Project (+1 EC), +5% Khambian
Ming: expands, discovers Animal Husbandry and Fire (+1 EC), +1% The Path, opens trade with Abalonia and Yang
Mitanni: expands, finishes Great Ranches (+2 EC), +4% Cavalloism
The Holy Arcadian Empire: expands, discovers Stone Mining, +4% Christianity
The Yazidi Order: expands, discovers Wheel, starts Yazidi Roads Level 1 (+1 EC) (1/8), +6% Yazida
Yang: expands, discovers Fishing, finishes Terraces (+1 EC), +1% Blak'n'vuait, opens trade with Ming

Europe
The virus of war not only doesn't stop to spread within Europe, but it even expands to other places in Europe as Attica declares war on their northern neighbours in Sessentia (see Eastern War) after a brief civil war started in said country and spilled over to Attica (see Sessentia Civil War). Very few other things happened that could be of mention, save for the first contact between the nations of Arago and the Maternite faction of Marsi. The Aragos, who expected to find in Marsi a trade partner from whom resources could be received for the war against Aruhn (see Iberia War), feel disappointed when they see that the Marsians have no concept of barter and thus attempting to trade with them would be useless. Maternite Marsi can't do much in that front save to prepare for it in the future, if they defeat the Paternite faction (see Marsian Civil War).

Arago: expands, discovers Bartering (+1 EC), continues war against Nation of Aruhn, +4% Akabarala, meets Maternite Marsi
Attica: expands, discovers Animal Husbandry, starts war with Sessentia, +1% Attian Polytheism
Maternite Marsi: expands, continues war with Paternite Marsi, +3% Marsian Tricotheism, meets Arago
Nation of Aruhn: chills (+1 Strike, money banked), +8% Ytrism
Paternite Marsi: expands, continues war with Maternite Marsi (see Marsian Civil War), +2% Marsian Tricotheism
Sessentia: chills (NPCed nation, money banked), starts war with Attica, +1% Lathanism

Special Events
You thought that we didn't believe enough in our God(s)? Well, think again!
In several nations around the war, foreign and internal matters have been totally changed due to the matter of religion. In those nations, religion is taking a great hold of the nation, sometimes even greater than the hold they had before. The Maya have been one of those nations, as the powerful priests of the Mayan gods (which are worshipped by more of a third of the Mayan population) have managed to convince Ajaw (King) Pacal III to declare that Mayan Polytheism is to become the nation's official religion. Pacal III would not only do this, but would also take the mantle of Kuhul Ajaw (Divine Lord) and to enforce religious control over all the echelons of the government.
Maya: changes government from Monarchy to Theocratic Monarchy, +3% Mayan Polytheism

In Arago, as the war with the Nation of Aruhn rages on, there have been increased attempts from the religious elite to turn the war with their southern neighbours into a religious war, as they feel their nation and its religious roots are in continuous danger. With a fifth of the population fully behind this move and the rest just wishing to defeat the Aruhnese, the higher priests would institute a policy of no religious tolerance and of total war against the enemy: only the religion of Akabarala would be allowed in Arago, with followers of other religions being persecuted and either forced to convert or die. This also leads the nation to a religious revival, with many thousands of people (mostly in the capital and main towns) converting to the faith, but the countryside proves to be a different matter, as people are more difficult to control there.
Arago: changes government from Theocracy to Fanatic Theocracy, +5% Akabarala

In Carania, contact with the nations of Berberia and Tripolitania have fortified the resolution of the priests of Molok, certain that if other religions expand into Carania it might anger their god and that is something the priests can't allow. Monarch Barca, already a great believer in Molok, decides to go onward and push his subjects to follow that same religion, starting with the court and their most immediate kin. This soon spreads out through the city of Cargo, although it mostly fails out of there. Nonetheless, it is a great day for the Molok priests, as many more followers are coming to the temples and give donations.
Carania: changes government from Monarchy to Theocratic Monarchy, +1% Molok

Sessentia Civil War
The death of King Georg I in a simulacrum of battle in the north of the country sparks a small battle in the city of Karjan. The first son and legitimate heir to the throne, Nicolae, is ready to take up the position of King of Sessentia, but his uncle Chivu soon faces him, accusing him of causing his father's death. A shouting fight explodes between uncle and nephew, until the younger man has the guards take his uncle out of the palace. Chivu would soon come back with a battalion of soldiers loyal to him, but Nicolae had already guessed what was going to happen and had called the rest of the army, which had been loyal to his father and now to him. The battle would last a few weeks, and in the end Chivu saw himself without any troops and committed suicide. However, his supporters would still survive, and this would bring bigger problems to the nation as they raided several Attican towns to find food and other supplies with which to survive in the wake of the rebel faction.
Sessentia: -2 Warriors

Eastern War
Indeed, when Attica learnt that the attackers had come from Sessentia, they demanded an apology and reparations to be given to Attica for the attack. After a month of wait, Attica decided to launch an attack against Sessentia in revenge for the attack on their northern towns. Pushing towards the north, Attica would soon manage to take over much land in the south of Sessentia. King Nicolae would soon send the army there in order to deal with the attackers, but the Attican ships would manage to take several soldiers to the northern territories, from where they attacked into the unprotected terrains of Sessentia. Caught in a two front war, he would soon call the army back to the capital after an inconclusive battle in the south.
Attica: -1 Warrior
Sessentia: -1 Warrior, loses 1 EC to Occupation

Iberia War
In Iberia, the Arago would soon reach a breakthrough in the war against the Nation of Aruhn, as they employ new tactics to defeat the Nossair cavalry, laying traps for them, killing the riders and taking the horses with them, which proved difficult as they didn't know how to handle them. Nonetheless, the war effort for Aruhn turned bad when the Arago troops managed to cross and conquer lands in the southern side of the border, as well as destroy any isolated enemy units that attack them. Aruhn will soon need that someone does something, or their nation runs the risk of being conquered.
Arago: -1 Warrior, +1 Army Quality
Nation of Aruhn: -3 Nossairs, -1 Warrior, loses 1 EC to Occupation, recovers 1 EC from Raids

Marsian Civil War
The Marsian civil war seems to be on the verge of being finished. A lucky battle in the de facto border between the two factions in the war gave the edge to the Maternites, as they managed to stop and defeat a Paternite army that had been sent to conquer the city of Marsi. Then, the Maternites rose a new, big army in order to give the death blow to the Paternite faction. By the year 298 AB, the Maternites would have conquered the western half of Paternite Marsi and started a siege over Milano, but the eastern half remains free from Maternite occupation and the troops loyal to King Flavius IV are desperately attempting to recruit troops to free their king.
Maternite Marsi: -1 Marsian War Band, -1 Warrior
Paternite Marsi: -1 Marsian War Band, -3 Warriors, -1 Slinger, loses 1 EC to Occupation

The End (for now)

@Everyone: that's Update 5 for all of you! And, as you can see, war in Europe is expanding to the last two nations that were still in peace. This update has also seen the appearance of the nation of Wanalu (I have lost the name of the capital, so if TheLastOne36 is kind to post it here...), the establishment of the Maya and Abalonia as regional economic powers and several other things. I truly hope that you have enjoyed it.

@Nuclear kid: if you really want to join again, please consider whether any of the NPCs appeals to you before creating a nation in England. It is very far from the original cradle, and you will be utterly isolated for years (turns).

@carmen510: you missed 3 straight updates, so Sessentia is out for you. If you want to come back, you'll have to pick other nation.

@artbell, Sylon: please, do not forget the next update.

@Charles Li, TheLastOne36: welcome to MilarNES II!

One thing: does anybody know the distance a pixel's side is equivalent to? As in, 1 pixel's side = ? metres/miles. Tomorrow I'd like to post a small award ceremony for the best nations in the game. I'll also update stats then.

Once again, I hope that you liked the update.

Just so that you don't miss this:
THE DEADLINE FOR UPDATE 6 (300 AB) WILL BE NEXT TUESDAY 25TH AUGUST AT 6 PM CET (12 PM EST, 5 PM GMT)

My cap is Wanayu

How about updating the tech chart? imo it should be included in the updates. I believe Fire is a tech known by all north americans now.

Aww, i'm dissapointed between the Mothernite and Fathernite, i was hoping there would be peace and one nation would expand and become a state located in the italian peninsula and the other become a state in Gaul.

The Kingdom of Marsi as a divided country? Heresy!

Once more, Utul can't trade with Taino. Also, Utul doesn't know Maya and Azteca. Once you get Sailing (which could be your first Bronze Age tech) then you will be able to trade. Well, Azteca will need other tech, I don't remember which.

Very well. Stats have been updated. Now, the prizes for the best nations in the different aspects of the game.

Biggest Nation
This is measured in surface in the map, and doesn't include the surface of rivers or the borders. The total inhabited surface (total surface occupied by nations) is 7,359,000 square miles.
:trophy: Yang (NPC), with a surface of 547,000 square miles (7.43% of inhabited surface)
:trophy2nd: Ming (NPC), with a surface of 538,100 square miles (7.31% of inhabited surface)
:trophy3rd: Mitanni (c&cciv3), with a surface of 441,200 square miles. (6.00% of inhabited surface)

Best Army (Attack)
This will be done by adding the combined force of all troops and multiplying it by the Army Quality.
:trophy: Nation of Aruhn (Sylon) with an attack of 63 (60 Melée, 3 Long Range)
:trophy2nd: Arago (NPC) with an attack of 52 (28 Melée, 24 Long Range)
:trophy3rd: ex aequo (shared), with an attack of 45, by Feicui Empire (Cynovolans) (33 Melée, 12 Long Range) and Maya (DarthNader) (27 Melée, 18 Long Range)

Best Army (Defence)
This will be done by adding the combined force of all troops and multiplying it by the Army Quality.
:trophy: Arago (NPC) with a combined defence of 52 (28 Melée, 24 Long Range)
:trophy2nd: Feicui Empire (Cynovolans) with a combined defence of 45 (27 Melée, 18 Long Range)
:trophy3rd: Yazidi Order (Dannydehz/NPC) with a combined defence of 33 (15 Melée, 18 Long Range)

Most Powerful Economy
Depends on EC and trade
:trophy: Abalonia (NPC) with a Base Economy of 7 and that earns 3 EC from Trade
:trophy2nd: ex aequo by Khambat (Abaddon), Ming (NPC) and Taino (NPC) with a Base Economy of 7 and that earn 2 EC from Trade
:trophy3rd: ex aequo by Maya (DarthNader) and Yang (NPC) who each earn 8 EC per turn (Maya: 6 BE, 2 TE; Yang: 7 BE, 1 TE)

Biggest Culture
Quite simple, don't you think so?
:trophy: Maya (Darth Nader) with 22 Culture Points
:trophy2nd: Nation of Prisma (artbell) with 14 Culture Points
:trophy3rd: ex aequo by Kingdom of Utul (D'Artagnan59) and The Yazidi Order (Dannydehz/NPC) with 9 Culture Points

Most Extended Religion
The calculation for this takes into account the percentage of population and the size of the nations, supposing that the population density is the same for all the nations. Only the 19.16% of the world population has a religion.
:trophy: Ancestor Worship (Empire) with a total of the 1.80% of the world's population.
:trophy2nd: Mayan Polytheism (Maya) with a total of the 1.61% of the world's population.
:trophy3rd: Yazida (The Yazidi Order) with a total of the 1.44% of the world's population.

Most Original Nations
This one is very difficult to develop, as it depends on whether you have managed to create a nation very much unlike any other in the world. All of them are given to PCs.
:trophy: Eskimogypt (Arian) for his mixture of Eskimo and Egyptian culture (although the use of a herbivore animal with a penchant for human flesh, which he used in MilarNES I, makes him lose points)
:trophy2nd: ex aequo by Mitanni (c&cciv3) and Nation of Aruhn (Sylon) for their nations in which most things go around horses.
:trophy3rd: Nation of Prisma (artbell) for his society in which the shadow government influences everything in order to manipulate the one who thinks is the one who makes the orders.

Most Useful Ideas
This, of course, depends on many things such as projects, orders... that kind of thing.
:trophy: Kingdom of Utul (D'Artagnan59) for his expeditions along the Arkansas River in order to create a new colony there and speed up the expansion of the nation. Also attempted to placate the Taino to prevent them from attacking, but as he pulled out all the troops from Utulian Cobba, the Taino were able to take over that piece of land.
:trophy2nd: Mitanni (c&cciv3), who used his Tribal Horsemen with great success and nearly managed to isolate Iudea and Empire.
:trophy3rd: Eskimogypt (Arian) for his projects (which are fairly original) and his expeditions along the Nile River.

Special Mention
Sylon for the shortest orders ever: no stats, no strategies, nothing save for ordering to buy military units. Well, he did put a couple of strategies once. Otherwise, nothing else.

EDIT: According to my chart, the following changes are done in technology:
Africa: none
America: Tototl and Wanalu get Fire
Asia: Empire and Mitanni get Fire, and if either of them or Feicui Empire get Bartering, the rest will also get it
Europe: none (although when Attica or Aruhn get Agriculture, the other will also get it)

A little question...shouldn't Paternite Marsi lose at least an economic point, having lost half of their country?

Africa: none
America: none (although when Tototl or Wanalu get Fire, the other will also get it)
Asia: Empire and Mitanni get Fire, and if either of them or Feicui Empire get Bartering, the rest will also get it
Europe: none (although when Attica or Aruhn get Agriculture, the other will also get it)

Total 8 civs in North America

6 out of 8 now have Fire

6/8 = 0.75 Shouldn't Me and Tototl get Fire?

I was deciding which tech i should research next and remade and updated the chart to help me pick a tech. Might as well post it for the community.

Africa (3/4)

Name of Geographic Area (Number needed for tech to be universally known in area/total amount of civs in geographic area)

Technology Africa (3/4) Asia (8/10) Europe (5/6) America (6/8)
Agriculture --------0----------5 ------------4 ------------2
Animal Husbandry --4 ---------5 ------------2 ------------0
Bartering ----------4 ---------7-------------2------------ 8
Ceremonial Burial----0---------4 ------------1-------------4
Fire ---------------4----------10-----------3-------------8
Fishing ------------4 ----------4------------1 ------------8
Hunting -----------1----------1------------0-------------1
Stone Mining ------1----------3------------1-------------0
Wheel -------------1---------2------------0-------------0

According to my own counting, there are 28 nations in the game. 13 of them have a player, 2 of which have some strikes and 1 more is currently being NPCed. We really need to get more players into this game! Any suggestion as to how to do this?

I think that 13 people is a good number for a NES, at least for the second NES of the Mod. And attracting new players is difficult...even if you PM every single NESer active asking to join you NES, you wouldn't get a lot new players.

This is my first NES btw. Honestly i thought i would be overwhelmed by joining a NES but it isn't that much time consuming. Just submit orders and make a little story. I joined this one cause it interested me to no end.

In the mean time, i guess i could play as another nation. I'm thinking of Europe, in particular the Paternite. That's right Flavius, i'm after you!
