I'm giving you a reason as to why he could have chosen Winston as his scan choice, not that it is the reason. I can't speak for him.

King Theoden, in his keep, addressed the crowd this time.
"There has been much bickering between us," the King from Edoras began. "Today's vote is hotly contested. Who have the crowd decided should be put to death?"
"Stuck in Pi shall be killed," the young boy Haleth announced.
Stuck in Pi tried to make a break for it, but he did not get far before Faramir brought him down with an arrow, before tossing him over the wall onto the field below, with the help of his brother Boromir.
Stuck in Pi (Pippin) was dead.
IT IS NOW NIGHT FOUR. NIGHT FOUR WILL BE 24 HOURS LONG. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR ORDERS IN ON TIME.

Why was I asleep when this happened? Can I just say really fast that it was an absolutely idiotic move to lynch SiPi since he was probably telling the truth and a night would have allowed a thorough investigation?
The bandwagon was led by Takhisis and Earthling, nonetheless. I don't want to be rude or anything, but if I was a vigilante, these two guys would've been dead by now. I am not a fan of the amount of confusion they are creating for the average townsperson.
Sigh, oh well.

I've found that this isn't really an uncommon way for people to behave.
Most people here have no idea what to do, or who to trust, and not everyone has the same assessment of the situation. When several people try to forge a path forward in differing directions, you get chaos. Perfectly normal.
Unless I see a reduction in the number of mafia kills from now on, or proof to the contrary, I'll assume Stuck was innocent. But I think we should keep focused on productive thoughts and avoid the blame game. People are trying, and sometimes they fail.

Another dead hobbit? I sympathise with the hobbit faction. But at least we followed some sort of lead with this lynch.
Why on earth assume SiPi was innocent, ATPG, or that there will be any reduction in the number of kills if he was not? NEITHER Pippin nor Gollum was a killer. Pippin stole the Ring. He gave it to Sauron. Sauron was described as "his master". And we already know that we are NOT getting alignment reveals upon death. Black text tells us nothing. Maybe for someone like Ugluk we'll get "peasant number three has turned into a nasty ORC!", but especially with this precedent, I fully expect any bad guys within the ranks of "good guy" characters to turn up simply as "peasant number three is dead", with no further help for us.
SiPi's story had enough holes, IMO, especially when combined with the night write-up from the night Winston was killed and the lack of death-alignment reveal, to make me comfortable with this lynch.

1. All right, we now have at least three groups of "masons" in the game (or did have). I would like a PM from any or all of you -- thomas, civgeneral, beefy, anyone else who I might already know about -- to state FLAT OUT whether your PM indicates the other's innocence.
2. Anyone who can back up thomas's story of having revealed his and SiPi's mason status in private prior to today, please come forward. Thomas says it was multiple someones, so there should be a number of you. Thomas, YOU had better spill who you talked to, as well. After that night-two write-up, there's no excuse for anyone who didn't bring this up to someone halfway trusted, if they knew.

I think I should read this thread when I wake up, rather than just after work, since so much happens during the my night time. I will get lost in this thread otherwise and it might mean that i need to look it up in the morning before work.
@Renata, how are you going to know if anyone is telling the truth about what they say to you about what their role is? You can trust me in what i say considering what a lot of people know about me in this game. All I can do is look and see what faction people are in, and that does not help that much, but it is still useful for the victory conditions.

If you're referring to the Mason thing, that's why I'm asking all of them. Thomas, Beefy and Civgeneral are already a sample of three, and I believe I implied I know one other pair as well. With so many people available to contradict each other, I expect I'll get an honest answer.

know low-power roles are so easy this game, I don't care what you think of me.
I'd be onboard with Double A next if it's agreed - but Frodo and other innocents who initially brought the claim forward never backed down, and then combined with the fact of a story not adding up...(like, he really thought his supposed mason partner thomas was dead? How could we excuse that)

Even if Stuck in Pi was really innocent, his vulnerability to mind control is too great a liability. better take out the known traitors, so we don't lose that much, even if he's a thief and could have stolen the Ring back.

... It's not meant to "look good". It's meant to be honest. I apologize if someone out there has more substantial evidence against SiPi than I had, but from what I know he could very well have been innocent or been a "puppet" of some sort.
