Mafia Game: The Lord of the Rings (Game Thread)

Plus I am sure that Camikaze has time, since the cricket was washed out.

I still didn't get home until about 11, i.e. no time to do a vote tally last night.

But here's one now.

Vote Tally

Double A- 14 (Arakhor, Autolycus, CCRunner, civplayah, DrumStudent, Love, Renata, RRRaskolnikov, Seon, Snerk, thomas.berubeg, tycoonist, Winston Hughes, Zack)
CivGeneral- 7 (classical_hero, CivGeneral, Double A, Earthling, Lord OST, Takhisis, TheLastOne36)

Still waiting on: [IMP]Warman8888, Bad Player, Beefy187, CivGeneral, Csargo

Let me know if I've made any mistakes.

I'll try and get the write-up done soon.

Oh, and something I feel I should clarify; there was a slight clumsiness in the design of the faction of a couple of characters, who are in this game a different faction to what they are in the movies.

We should have had Double A kill Warman at night. With his kill ability used up there'd be less to worry about. Honestly I think Warman is gone and not coming back - and don't know if there's a replacement player. But, too bad for Smeagol in the end...

I agree with the conclusion that [IMP]Warman8888 is gone. So to complete the purge of dead wood this phase:

[IMP]Warman8888 was seemingly MIA, lost in the wilderness when he was perhaps needed more than any other time. God did not at all like this, and so sent out the Army of the Dead, for a third time in the Day, to take care of this inactive.

[IMP]Warman8888 (Rider of Rohan) suffered the Wrath of God.

Pippins was mafia, too, he stole the Ring.

But then "Elf Archer" was Sauron

DAY SEVEN
Misty_mountains.png

The 25 remaining members of Middle Earth met on the Misty Mountains for the seventh day of their struggle against the enemy.

Celeborn addressed the audience, "Who amongst us is to be lynched today?"

"Double A is to be lynched," the young Freda stated.

This met with a great deal of consternation, and a struggle broke out. Double A (Gollum) attempted to strangle Frodo for this deceit, before biting Samwise, but it was to no avail for the designated target. Faramir quickly intervened and tossed Double A off a cliff, his screams dying as the Night approached.

IT IS NOW NIGHT SEVEN. NIGHT SEVEN WILL BE 48 HOURS LONG, ALTHOUGH ALL ORDERS MUST BE IN WITHIN 24 HOURS. NO ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 24 HOURS. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR ORDERS IN ON TIME.

See guys! We could've lost the ring forever there! :p

Told you he was a bad idea. Oh and btw good job Mafia! :hatsoff: You just eliminated your number one enemy without using your night kill.

Double A's personal victory is to get the Ring in his possestion at the end of the game.

Now tell me how he can achieve that if Frodo is being protected every day by Gandalf, and Gandalf in turn being protected everyday by someone else?

He can still achieve his other victory conditions, AND roleblock mafia AS WELL be a vigalante kill.

I do not see how lynching him makes ANY sense at all?

Precisely, but it is too late now.

Doesn't clarify anything at all. And also this is still just what Gollum told you right? I guess you wouldn't answer me if it was an ability scanner or something.

But I wasn't worried about Gollum stealing the Ring back again from Mordor or Isengard or something - if it came down to that we'd be in trouble anyway. What I still wasn't clear on is if Gollum was even a threat with the status quo right now because his ability likely couldn't break through protection/steal the Ring anyway. And I do believe he wasn't going to kill a random innocent - do what, steal the sword of the Rohan Rider? Having a roleblocker for a couple more nights at the least would have been ok.

I thought you said that the items you give to Frodo make him completely invincible regardless.

I agree that we shouldn't lynch Double A in case we need his theft ability.

If he was going to lie to us, would he make up something that would make him seem more threatening to the innocents? Or is it more likely that he would underplay the bad side of his nature, and overplay the good side?

And have you considered the possibility that he could now be working with sprig?

If I was in his position - able to win with either side - I would have been working the innocent angle in public (to protect myself against the lynch), but also talking to the Mordorscum in private (to protect myself against being killed at night).

After all, he could afford to play along with us right up to the point where his betrayal would hand victory to the villains.

I don't know how my items effect theft ability. (Camikaze didn't mention in my role pm)

Cause he's been Mafia the whole time, knows there were like a dozen inactives to hide behind, and can just send in kill orders at night. And Beefy is either inactive, really an innocent chump whose cover role CivG abused, or Beefy is even Mafia too and they're :lol:ing at us in private because their "revelation as innocents" succeeded and we couldn't seize initiative and take on the Mafia head to head.

Also with this info coming out I really wonder why we didn't just make Gollum use his kill on *random lurker* earlier, so his kill was used up. Especially when we even went so far as to protect him from Shelob that night... But we'll have to live through it and move on, past is past, I know it's rough for Frodo/all the innocents and I'll keep trying to do what I can to support us. Still a shot at things yet.

Well, what's done is done. Let's move on, and make hash of some mafia tonight.
