DAY EIGHT
Edoras.jpg

Those remaining met on the eighth day in the Rohan city of Edoras, home of King Théoden.

The King asked the audience, "Who is to be the victim of our democracy today?"

"We have decided to lynch civplayah," the King's son Theodred proclaimed.

This decision was widely accepted, and the crowd turned towards Éomer (civplayah), the King's nephew, as he let out a low chuckle. Clouds came over, and the Marshal of the Riddermark suddenly appeared in black clothing, with a evil and pointed mask. civplayah (Éomer) was the Witch-King of Angmar.

"You pathetic creatures," Sauron's minion bellowed, still chuckling menacingly, as his fell-beast appeared out of nowhere. "No man can kill me...until the other Nazgûl are dead."

And with that, he rode off into the Night, as those remaining awaited their fate.

IT IS NOW NIGHT EIGHT. NIGHT EIGHT WILL BE 24 HOURS LONG. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR ORDERS IN ON TIME.

Now we know that we specifically have to kill the two Nazgûl, then Civplayah (the Witch-King) and then Sprig (Sauron), in that order. Those two can also be role-blocked. It's not completely wasted. (Either that or we get a woman to kill him!)

@Arakhor: Frankly I am still upset about that kind of useless reveal so we might stop talking about it...

@Camikaze: We do have to kill Ugluk before Sarumane right? You are evil right? :wallbash:

TLO, your defeatism is such that if you hadn't given the items you did to Winston, you'd be a prime suspect in my books.

So Camikaze is evil. We all knew that already. Big deal. Let's do what we came here to do and hunt Mafia, for as long as each of us is alive.

Whoever's questioning Winston in general can bite my elf rear. I'd like to see you do better. We have not had a mislynch since he's been running the show, and the two failed lynches were game mechanics we could not have done anything about. Many if not most of our problems are due not to his leadership but to people who don't know when the heck to keep their mouths shut! Don't those of you who are innocent understand that you're only giving cover to the Mafia to do the same thing, in addition to tellling them exactly what they need to do to win?

Face it, this is still going to get worse before it gets better. Just live with it.

There's been a fair amount of hostility throughout this game. So unnecessary.
Some have played loads of mafia games and got tactics coming out the wazoo, while some haven't played much and mostly don't really know what is the most appropriate action to take tactics-wise. Plus, if you're not apart of the inner click, and don't know much about what goes on behind the scenes, it's well boring to keep your mouth shut about your character to everybody except a few key players. So at the end of the day we'll probably have some mafia info spillage, no worries, it's all a laugh.

Also, FFS Camikaze we can't kill him either!? Well. challenge accepted good sir! :)

I apologize if my words were taken as offensive... I don't know that many words in english so sometimes the tone of my post might not be the one I want or fully adequate. :)

Some info spillage is inevitable. It's shouting every last detail from the rooftops that really messes up the innocent team's chances.

I can understand that people who haven't played much before want to be in on everything, and that it can seem like there's an exclusive clique running the show. But I can tell you that the composition of this innocent cabal has been determined by in-game events ,and not by any pre-existing relationships between the players. That's simply how mafia games like this work.

I'll also add that I am not someone who actually seeks out the leadership role. I'm much happier hiding in the shadows, letting others do the heavy work*, and trying to avoid becoming one of those people who always gets murdered in the first couple of nights, or who can't go quiet without drawing suspicion. But when the role demands it - as this one so obviously has - I feel obliged to step up. Not least because I really hate losing. Especially to sprig. ;)

*And this game has been very heavy indeed - more than 80 PMs sent or received on some days; never less than 30 on any given day since I was resurrected.

It's not you, in fact, it's no one in particular. It's just a whole lot of people being slightly frustrated having a cumulative effect.

Whilst I can appreciate that the actions of others are frustrating for some, I would've thought a good tack to take would be to privately (if someone suggested something in private to me, I'd me much more inclined to take it onboard) politely and friendlily (wow, that is a clumsy word) observe that those actions are perhaps detrimental to whichever cause you happen to think they are detrimental to. :)

Coolio. Although I didn't mean a pre-existing relationship clique, just one of the important players who knows what's up. Just saying that for the people of the ouside of this it can get a bit boring to keep quiet, so let's not come down so harshly on a few unfortunate info slips that has been made in the game thread.

The thing is, it hasn't just been a few. It's been practically everything.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: out of those who have not actually (to my knowledge) ever been scanned as innocent, there is more reason to believe in my innocence than just about anyone else's in the game. Yet I don't know everything. Not even close. Pretty much not a day goes by that I don't learn something else I didn't previously know, and not because Winston or anyone else has told me so in private, but because someone has talked about it IN PUBLIC. Can anyone honestly say they don't believe the mafia are loving all of that?

There is so much to do and to talk about in a game like this, without revealing things like abilities or roles or job assignments. We all know by now that Winston's not going to reveal any scan results until a good chunk of the day has gone by, so make use of it. Make accusations. Force people to talk, and to respond. Make it public when something suspicious is said, or check in private first if you're worried about implicating a major role you're not aware of. Go over voting records and call people out on their public actions. We now have three known (Sprig, civplayah, Stuck in Pi) and one suspected (Frozen in Ice) members of the Mordor Mafia outed, so it's quite possible there's something there worth looking at by now.

Civplayah didn't get scanned on a random chance or by process of elimination. He got scanned because he made some mistakes in private conversations early in the game, and because Sprig said something in public he shouldn't have the previous day. Our job as innocents is to provoke those sorts of mistakes, not to unburden ourselves of all our secrets at every possible opportunity.

See, this is the type of thing that I'm not at all sure that everyone knew. Certainly I didn't know whether civplayah had actually been caught by scan or some other behavior. And yes, people should tell you, (and Bilbo) more, I've said so myself a dozen times, mostly because I think it would be better to have more people's perspective's than just one or two - even though Frodo and Gandalf may try their best something could always be missed.

Right, and now that we've had a chance to look at everyone's reactions to the accusation, it doesn't matter to reveal that it was a scan. But it's unlikely we'll get Mafia every day by this method in any case, even if our scanners remain among the living. There's still going to be plenty for everyone to do.

Actually, Renata is mistaken. We didn't need a scan to determine civplayah's guilt.

The plan was to act as if we had scanned him without actually saying so. That way, we could be sure of getting him lynched, whilst leaving him enough wiggle-room to try to defend himself. The alternative would have been to gradually set out the whole case against him in public, but that would have meant compromising some other information which looks like it might lead us to at least one of his accomplices...

You are sneaky. I like it.

This is completely non-canon. The Witch-king was actually the first of the Nine to die, the remaining eight were killed in Orodruin's final eruption.

You'd probably have started shouting that civplayah was Mafia and discouraged innocents from voting -and therefore unmasking- the Witchking.

Rules question: can he vote now that he's been unmasked, or does he get (more likely) the sprig treatment?

Am I just that lynchable? :p

I certeinly didn't know of Stuck in Pi and Frozen in Ice!

edit: Oh wait, where those the dead ones?

Yes, they are... now here's a secret that mafia doesn't know about...
sprig is Sauron and civplayah is the Witch-King!!
