Four and a half centuries of feudalism were brought to an end yesterday when the Privy Council approved changes to the laws governing Sark, in the Channel Islands, which will introduce universal suffrage to the island.
The Privy Council’s decision enables Sark’s judiciary and parliament to be significantly modernised.
Sark, which lies 80 miles off the south coast of England, has been governed by a mix of landowners and elected people’s deputies since it was settled in the 1600s.
The island’s parliament, the Chief Pleas, has already approved new laws to introduce a 28-member elected chamber after a recent referendum in which islanders voted for democracy. These proposals were formally approved by the Privy Council.

I saw an article about this in the Economist; it seems bad. Sark doesn't have the infrastructure to support this.

Sark Recent history

Nuclear physicist coup
In 1991, an unemployed French nuclear physicist named André Gardes attempted a singlehanded invasion of Sark, armed with a semi-automatic weapon. He was arrested by the Island's police officer (who at the time was Little Sark farmer Philip Perrée Jnr) while sitting on a bench, changing the gun's magazine.

Not sure if this is true but if so I reckon we could take it.

I call :king:

i'm in as vice-king!

How is this "Europe's" newest democracy? Wouldn't this just become another 'county' -not sure of the term - of England?

And really: if that is true, it is awesome.

I want to conquer Sark! Who will come with me? (my boat can hold only 8 people so I'll choose the most competent ones)

I'm in, but only if I'm made a duke. I'm a crackshot, you could use me.

I'll be the emperor but if you want to be the duke of South Sark you may be.

ANyone have a map of this place? We should plan our invasion.

i suppose we use the castro tactic, invade little sark, convert all 4 inhabitants of la-sablonnerie to our cause and then march towards the village before they can react and block the road. if they block that road, we're f*cked...
if we get a second team going they could take brecqhou and use it as artillery stand to shoot fireworks and throw molotov cocktails over at the village.

I'm thinking we land four people in zxcvbnm's boat at Pot Bay, secure the road with two of them while the other two convert the people of La-Sablonnerie to our cause. Then we march up the main road. Meanwhile, zxcvbnm and the other three men land at Brecqhou and use it as a base for artillery as you suggested.

It won't work very well:
Like Great Sark, the island rises fairly sheerly from the sea, and is surrounded by cliffs, and steep pathways. The anchorages here are not as good.
I suggest that we land a bit north of Derrible Point, where the road leads to the coast. We storm uphill in a blitzkrieg tactic and capture The Village. Half of our invasion force, ie 4, stay there and pacify the local inhabitants while the rest is split into two groups which flank the enemy forces trying to escape to Little Sark. After that we finish the conquest by taking the northern part of Greater Sark.

Seriously, this should become a forum game: Sark Wars episode 1

Hmmm, sounds like we need some sort of coastal reconnaisance to find the best place to land. If Derrible Point's the most viable landing site, that would work, but I think storming The Village without securing Little Sark is dangerous. If they can block that main road we're in trouble, as Holy King said.

pot bay sounds like it's possible to land there i'd say...

Well Sark does have a great 600 amazing people as a population so that could be difficult. I bet Civ Fanatics if it was created as a Nation , would have much more population we (already have) . It has probably more money and we could beat Sark into a War.\

Let's invade the Sark. But their is a problem though . There isn't any excuse that would give us the legality of invading but i do have an idea.

The plan is we shut the forums for a week and we accuse Sark for using weapons of mass destruction against our great site.

P.S I bet we would beat them in football also ...

Sark has only ever played in the 2003 Island Games in nearby Guernsey and Alderney. The team lost every match by 15 goals or more, having the unenviable record of Goals For: 0, Goals Against: 70, from just four matches. Having said that, the fact that Sark were able to find a squad of players from an island population of 600 spoke volumes for their commitment.

In that games, this island made history by becoming the first team ever who failed to score a goal. But coach Shane Moon summed up the spirit in the camp by saying:

"It was a special occasion for our lads to enter the tournament. They will probably never do this again in their lifetimes."[citation needed]

Sark's most experienced player was 52 year old former Huddersfield Town professional Barrie Dewsbury.

Looks like a nice place to rule over. Looks like the Brecqhou as an artillery base plan is in too, as it appears quite easy to land on. That road is perfect for defensive operations, which is why we have to seize it immediately. The Lighthouse should also be useful as a redoubt and to defend against counterattacks if necessary.

Hmmm, legality is a problem scy12. But I'm thinking we invade first, win ASAP, before anyone can intervene, then falsify evidence from our converts at La Sablonnerie stating they requested our assistance due to civil strife on the island, and the discrimination they received at the hands of the inhabitants of The Village.

we definitly need an ideology the people can follow, else theres no way we can control it's relatively large population with our force. especially after killing their police force... almost every citizen should be related quite close to a policeman...

I am the only one that thing a nice idea woud be to bring a couple hundreds of settlers with us too , offering them some land , property in exchange for services. Their objective wouldn't be just military support but changing the demographics of the islands and putting people there that would support us till the end. After a while we would have our own private army safeguarding our ludicrous homes while the rest export dope and aren't goods made at sark so our money may flourish.

Of course after we have taken control of the island who would give a damn about legality. But i am wondering if it's worth keeping the original population or we should kill every last soul in the island and repopulate it with Civfanatics from all around the world.
