Imperium Offtopicum: The Aftermath

This dream is shared by no actual Russian authority. The Petrograd Minister of Russian Language (the MRL being a subdivision of the Petrograd Cultural Ministry) in particular thinks such claims are bizarre due to having no cultural, linguistic or historical precedence to tread into the East Asian lands on such an auspice.

do us a favor and eliminate that upstart communist nation. ill send you a cookie if you do.

You go eliminate them if it means so much to you. Otherwise, Petrograd believes our ally the New Hetmanate and the Eastern Federation shall do an exemplary job.

...we are currently occupied with attacking Vermont, and evacuating the province and surrounding provinces that Vermont chose to nuke.

The Kingdom of Konchasa respectfully requests both nations come to a cessation of hostilities.

well i suppose. Vermont, would you be interested in peace?

Lord Ravanius is pleased to see that further War has been averted. He is obviously concerned by the possibility of further Nuclear war breaking out, and the time at which their use was threatened was most stressful for him. He has recently been attending talks aimed at preventing nuclear war, but remains unconvinced by the current treaty arrangements, which he describes as 'too unflexible.' He is obviously ammenable to such a treaty being produced, but appears to be concerned his nation could suffer badly if an incident were to occur.

the Federation didn't back down. we would have been quite happy to continue the war until your destruction. but we got too lazy to go through with it.

OOC: Guys, comments like that are just going to get the war started again, and constantly reoccuring wars are some of the worst things that can happen to IOTs.

Trying to keep things sensible :)

King 'Abbas has officially signed the bill for The Abhorrent Aid Programme, which is to provide assistance to nations that have been attacked by the creatures known as the abhorrents. It has lead to a creation of refugee camps, for those who have been displaced because of abhorrent attacks, throughout Sudan, mainly in the capital of Khartoum. Military presence has increased on the Macedonian - Sudan border, to keep the abhorrents out of Sudan. The Abhorrent Aid Programme has become popular with schools and volunteer groups, donating a large amount of food and other supplies to the people who have been affected by the attacks.

To Macedonia:

We see that you have been affected by a large amount by the abhorrents, and we wish to help you. We are sending supplies and aid to the people of Northern Egypt, who have been affected, and if you agree, we are willing to send military assistance to help you contain the abhorrent threat.

Update 5

Map updated. Dispute over the Western Region of Uganda between Somaliland and the Zulu Confederation continues.

"Phony War" between Vermont and the Federation of the Savanna concludes without hostile action after mere days.

Atomic deterrence gains a new partner
In response to the brief war between Vermont and the Federation of the Savanna, China announced earlier this week that it was adopting a policy of non-nuclear retaliation against any nation that deploys atomic weapons.

UN discusses nuclear response policy
Although the original resolution proposed by Portugal was deemed too narrow in scope, the General Assembly has used the treaty as a springboard to develop a strategy to confront the offensive use of nuclear weapons.

Confidence in Savanna leader slipping: poll

SAVA: The war may have ended without casualty, but that doesn't mean there haven't been changes. A recent Ipsos Markinor poll shows that public approval of the leader of the Federation of the Savanna has fallen in the wake of the standoff to 66%, down from 78% at the time of his election.

At issue was the leader's personal handling of the situation. The war began after the Federation pledged to aid rebel groups that had recently split from the government headquartered in Monaco. When Vermont declared outside intervention would be grounds for war, the Federation refused to back down.

Many citizens regarded the decision to aid the rebels as confounding. While the Federation may have been able to assist Gambia, the North American groups were considered too distant and inaccessible, Vermont due to wasteland isolation, Illinois because the Federation had no diplomatic arrangement with its neighbours. The government's decision to go to war over the matter only furthered confusion.

The leader's grandiose posturing in the face of war was seen as an arrogant inflation of national ego both at home and abroad. Particularly unpopular was his "bring it on" attitude in the face of a nuclear attack. The opposition parties quickly turned the statement into a public embarrassment, decrying: "Nuke us? They [Vermont] shouldn't nuke at all!"

This is not the first time the Federation government has proved unpopular. Soon after taking office, the leader antagonized the regional councils by overturning their decision not to trade with the Marian Republic due to suspicions of Sombra de Mar. The construction of the new capital Sava, while seen as an improvement in coordinating the councils, was heavily critiqued by some as undermining their authority in favour of a centralized system of rule.

The "unilateral" approach to handling the war has many citizens questioning whether the government is in tune with the nation's values at all.

Thorvald, why are you role playing my nation? isn't that... you know... my responsibility? please explain why you did it.

Non-Player Countries

The Non-Player Countries that developed during IOT4 have each been given unique identities and can be claimed by new players in place of original nations. Taking charge of an NPC comes with a trade-off: while providing an established base early in the game, they require that the player respect their values and attitudes; the leader can gradually shift national vision, but too radical a change in too short a timeframe will be met with hostility, and possibly revolt.
I really wish you would read from beginning to end.

I can PM you a summary of the nation if you think it'll help.
