It is hardly surprising, therefore, that you would use the excuse of "liberating" what is an inconsequential minority to violently impose policies contrary to our will and detrimental to our national well-being. You claim war is an option of last resort, yet your intentions could not be made clearer.

If the Marian Republic finds our answer to the Kaetif question unsatisfactory, it should not have precipitated the crisis in the first place.

While racism is endemic in certain regions of the Federation, just as it was in many egalitarian nations of the past, that does not mean this is intentional. We try our best to moderate such excesses, but it is hard to flat out rid ourselves of the racism that comes naturally to many.

We do not segregate our armed forces between Kaetif and human intentionally; we do it for various reasons, but possible racial tensions are one reason. Many humans view the Kaetif as abominations, and many Kaetif likewise view the humans as inferior, unevolved beings. Furthermore, the irradiation of the Kaetif soldiers necessitates segregation.

We do not ban Kaetif-human reproduction because of discrimination against humanity, but because we do not know the defects that could result from such a union, nor is anybody willing to test it.

In the past, human abortions were legal and Kaetif illegal, based on statistics of humans living in worse conditions. This has been amended so that lower-income individuals can legally have abortions instead. That humans have a higher rate of abortions is due to, once more, their more dire economic situation.

Humans are the primary recipients of "The Games," but this is only because humans commit more capital crimes.

Opportunities for advancement are also good, as many humans can join the military of our state, giving them a greater social status as well as stable income.

Humans are also allowed to emigrate at public expense as part of the Detente program; most humans, it seems, have elected to stay.

While the will of the people is important, rights should not be able to be overruled by it.

It is for the good of all nations for the citizenry to acknowledge eachother as brothers, and the government should lead the way in this pursuit. We ask merely for freedom of movement between the states, and equal rights for the Kaetif. This is not extortion or coercion, but a simple appeal to universal rights for all intelligent beings.

With the first glimmer in years of Hindustani consolidation, the Marathi Republic has made its own opening move toward Indian unification. Marathi troops rolled into the chaotic province of Madhya largely unopposed by city-states too distracted with their internal squabbles to recognize their neighbour's threat. The invasion brings Marathi forces into contact with the united provinces of Chhattisgarh and Uttar; while the Republic had no doubt hoped to annex the weaker territories first, it may find itself in full-fledged combat sooner than it anticipated.

Faced with the loss of Veneto, plans are being made to possibly abandon all of Italy; the region is poor and the Abhorrents too strong. It is believed it would be best to leave Europe to the Abhorrents after evacuating all citizens. Once that is done, a combined navy could patrol the seas, preventing their crossing into the Promised Land of Africa.

With no response, President de Mar has stated that tighter restrictions are needed against Cantabria Libre. All products from the nation have been banned. Small Marian detachments have taken up position outside Cantabria Libre, confiscating the goods of all merchant vessels they can find. The goods have been catalogued, and compensation will be given if Cantabria accedes to the demands.

Fishermen likely showed concern, but to prevent excessive suffering, ships have been instructed to not harass those harvesting food for the Cantabrian people. However, any suspicious activity will be investigated.

Propaganda has been amped up in the region as well, with radio broadcasts becoming more invasive than ever before. Cantabrians are told that while they don't need to like the Kaetif, acknowledging their contributions and rights can only benefit them. The Abhorrents threaten to spill into Europe, and even the Americas, and having the good will of an African power can only benefit them.

A common defense will be useful, but it cannot be forged if sentients are not equals. Otherwise it is not a bond of brotherhood, but a bond of convenience. The Marian Federation envisions that, if Europe is not abandoned, the Pyrenees will become the frontier of civilisation against the Abhorrents. As such, differences with the NCSA and Cantabria must be resolved, so the greater threat can be focused on.

United we stand, divided we fall.

The Marians abandon Veneto to it's fate, than Monaco & San Marino will liberate the region and than annex it.

Actually, the Marian Federation, given its historical roots in Italy, does logically have some care for the region. But for the time being, practical concerns overrule nationalist nostalgia; Italy will have to be temporarily forsaken...

It is not an abandonment of Italy, so much as a lease of it to others.

The people of Cantabria Libre do not wish to be put in competition with non-human creatures. You can threaten war all you like, but you cannot change public opinion. Even with propaganda it doesn't work. And giving them equal rights will not help if the people still detest them. Perhaps any Kaetif who wish to leave Cantabria Libre could be free to migrate to the Marians?

Marathi Republic: Hindustan is a nation in name only, corrupt, fractured, and in perpetual conflict with itself. The rule of law does not exist, and the plethora of self-interested leaders can barely provide their subjects the bare necessities. The Republic is doing Hindustan a favour: we bring them order, stability, opportunity, security, equality; in short, a future. That Madhya Pradesh turned over with negligible bloodshed is proof that the inhabitants welcome us.

One of our two initial demands was free exchange of peoples, to and from Cantabria. Humans who dislike their lot in the Federation could go there, and Kaetif who dislike their lot there, here.

Really? That would have been nice to know earlier. Regardless, occupation wasn't necessary. If you had brought it up in the UN, all you are "supplying" could have been accomplished. Macedonia would have brought it up if we could actually get into the country.

The German Republic is thankful for the help from the Anti-Abhorrent Coalition. In exchange for the help, the German Republic shall aid other nations in liberating other people's lands from the mutated Abhorents.

Across the world, word has came to the Germans about the Marians's slippage in their reputation. The German Republicans became weary of Marian's agression that has recently cropped up.

We are trying to avoid bloodshed while still applying pressure. Disrupting their economy through blockades and restrictions in Gibraltar is part of this process.

If defending the rights of Kaetif around the world makes the Federation "aggressive," however, than by all means we shall be aggressive. We shall be aggressive, just as the Britons were in their stifling of the slave trade. We shall be aggressive, as countless struggles for independence and self-determination in the past were.

We care little for Cantabria's remaining a protectorate of the NCSA. By all means, let that status continue. But we refuse to let our Kaetif brethren continued to be oppressed under the auspices of "Self-determination" and a Confederate "sphere of influence."

The crumbling buildings used to be part of a shrine to a local Sufi saint. Now they're part of a prison and torture complex, , known imaginatively as Prison Number Five, run by the Caliphal Guard of the Pakistani Taliban. The Sufis were their first victims.

Today, a young Kashmiri man is being escorted into a special room in the complex. Two bearded enormous brutes of men callously throw him into a cell. Inside, a fat, bespectacled Punjabi sits, expressionless, beside a table, on which there is a large grey box.

The Kashmiri, malnourished, dehydrated, with fractured bones and bleeding cuts from three days of severe beatings, does not have the strength to move.

The man with glasses nodded to the guards, who leave the cell and close its heavy metal doors.

"You dog!", called out the Punjabi in harsh Urdu. "Who do you work for? What is your purpose? Speak!"
