This timer thing is cool...

I see y'all found it -- we're still discussing policy on its use.
The initial thought is that we'd like to avoid putting it in signatures, as that could get very distracting. Yes, I'm aware that there are a few legitimate uses for it, like the example that Catharsis already has up.
Hai-yaaaa!Das is gut.
We could make it a forum games-only affair if you lot're scared, but it'd be very helpful for mod release dates and such.
Spoiler the snag :Only problem is, I get confused with the dates, as usually only 'Mericans use the MM/DD/YYYY format.
When I add it with quick reply it's apparently added but not displayed in the post, I have to reload the page.On the advanced reply thing, do you mean it only shows up in the post when added that way, or the button doesn't appear in the quick reply for you? What skin do you use?
DaveShack said:I think it has the ending tag just because that's what kind of bbcode it is.
DaveShack said:I think I know what would need to change to make color work, will suggest that to Ainwood. Thanks for the feedback.
Also, this is the standard format:
[TIMER=M/D/YYYY H:MM AM/PM ZONE; TIMEUP PHRASE][/ TIMER]
[timer=9/5/2012 10:02 PM +02:00; NO time left][/timer]
[timer=9/5/2012 10:02 PM +02:00; NO time left][/timer]
This is how the time zone correction work (remember DST). The timer now says that it is a bit less than 2 hours until 22:00 in GMT+1 and that is correct.
Nope, this did not work, for me it shows less than 2 hours but I'm at UTC-7. I don't think +/- conversions are working at all. It does show correctly if I put UTC or GMT, or named zones like EDT and PDT.
I included it so it wouldn't show as an actual timer, before I put in the noparse tags.Eliminate the space in the "[/ TIMER]"
[timer=9/5/2012 10:02 PM +02:00; NO time left][/timer]
[timer=9/5/2012 10:02 PM +02:00; NO time left][/timer]

Strangely enough, it does not appear correctly for your own posts, you must refresh. This may be a browser setting to always refresh, but it will slow down other things you do.
One thing though: it should be made to skip the DSTs or we'll be in a lot of trouble.I just read your first post wrong. Thanks for the fix!
Takhisis, you need to have it in -3/4/5 whatever time zone, not -3:00, which is what you have.
I think the timer should be:
[TIMER="9/8/2012 10:15 PM -3"][/TIMER]
