New to civilization, only really want to buy one DLC. Which should I get, G&K or BNW?

Welcome to Civfanatics! Brave New World would be the one to opt for, as it contains the mechanics from Gods and Kings - all you'll be missing are the scenarios and the civilizations. I think that Ethiopia from G&K are in BNW due to the African scenario.
