JFD's The World According to Modders

Decided to compile everything in one comment to be nice and stuff :p

Spoiler :

Civilization: Colonialist Legacies QLD
Leader: Senshi
Demonym: Senshinelese
Start Bias: Coast
Non-Historical Religion: Buddhism

Unique Ability: Compilation Station
If you have something you think would be better, go ahead and use it.
International Trade Routes provide Golden Age Points. During a Golden Age, you gain Production from International Trade Routes and other civs gain Happiness from routes with you.
Unique Building: Emergency Narrator's Guild
If you have something you think would be better, go ahead and use it.
Unlike the Writer's Guild it replaces, the Emergency Narrator's Guild may be built up to five times in the empire, because referencing other civs is fun. Whenever a Great Work of any kind is created in the empire, each Emergency Narrator's Guild provides a burst of Production to the city.
Unique Building: Record Player
The Mythic Emblems from the Beothuk civilization, but renamed and reskinned:
  • Mythic Emblem - Song is now Record Player - Axis
  • Mythic Emblem - Moon is now Record Player - Piper
  • Mythic Emblem - Council is now Record Player - Revolver
  • Mythic Emblem - Festival is now Record Player - London
  • Mythic Emblem - Ship is now Record Player - Morrison
  • Mythic Emblem - Hunt is now Record Player - Disraeli

ART:
Colour Scheme: #8CFFFF on #7F006E

I literally couldn't come up with a Dawn of Man

Greetings:
Hey, I'm Senshi! Nice to meet you, probably. I was just listening to- hey, don't I know you from somewhere?
Yeah, good evening and stuff! Welcome! You're probably looking for TPangs. Or maybe you ARE TPangs. Either way, you're probably in the wrong place.
[NEWLINE][NEWLINE]
Want to listen to a record?

Defeat:
I don't know if it's the loss of blood or the fumes emanating from the paltry remains of my charred city, but I feel great! I'm gonna have a little lie down now...
Great. Just great. Now my entire empire is dead! That's just fantastic!
[NEWLINE][NEWLINE]
I was being sarcastic, if you couldn't tell.

PEDIAS:
Colonialist Legacies QLD:
Colonialist Legacies, one of the more well-known 'new civs' projects, secretly relies on quite a few people to complete the average civilization. The Queensland Department largely concentrates on the compilation of assets and code in a working base file with XML and SQL. While the job is effectively unnecessary, it significantly increases the production of the project as a whole and allows other members to focus on other things. I guess it's technically a vassal? I need to check up on my lore.
Senshi:
senshidenshi, also known as just Senshi because it's shorter, is an ancestrally French civ 'modder' based in Brisbane, Australia. Senshi appeared on the mortal plane in January 2014, and helped with some mods, most notably Colonialist Legacies' Vietnam. Then he disappeared for no reason whatsoever, not reappearing until September of 2015. Since then, he has assisted in the production of basically all the Colonialist Legacies mods to be released or updated after that date, to a varying extent. He has also been attempting to assist with the pre-production of certain civs as well, although the three civilizations he has provided some level of conceptualisation for have yet to be released.
Emergency Narrator's Guild:
Due to his general idleness, similar timezone, and proximity to TPangolin, Senshi tends to provide emergency narration to parts of the Civ Battle Royale when the scheduled narrators invariably fail to deliver. Senshi has narrated at least four and a half parts of the Battle Royale to this date, and is really the only person bar TPangolin himself to have narrated more than two, at least by his counting.
[NEWLINE][NEWLINE]
People are way too eager to narrate, aren't they?
Record Player:
The first ever record player was invented in America in the year 1877... but that's not really relevant because Senshi got his at Target in 2015. If you've ever spoken to Senshi on, say, Steam, you should know he never shuts up about music if given the chance. The five records represented in the civ aren't necessarily the greatest, but they're all good and have nice album covers. It's difficult to create an icon for the best album when its cover is literally just white.

Can't be bothered to do flavours, so feel free to make them as terrible as you'd like :p
If it helps, I'm very left-wing.

MOD SUPPORT:
TSL: Brisbane
Cul Div: Colonial
Historical Religion: Tjukurpa
Civ IV Traits: Industrious, Philosophical
Ethnic Units: French (does France even have Ethnic Units? I don't personally use this mod... and I have no idea why I just admitted that.)
Map Labels: MOD_TP_AUSTRALIAN
Wish for the World?: Roxanne (or whatever you think would be funny)
I don't know enough about Sovereignity to do proper support... and I have no idea why I just admitted that.

UCI:
Our people are listening to the same song, over and over, over and OVER! Jeez dude, how do you live like this? I really hope your "culture" doesn't spread any further- oh, hey, is that a Joy Division shirt? Cool! Where did you get that?

Colony List:
Montreal, Hai Phong, Herat, Aapatohsipikani, Behchoko, Mooroolbark, Gwitn Tewje'g, Johor Bahru, Potlotek

DECISIONS? I'm terrible at these:
If you have something you think would be better, go ahead and use it.
Spoiler :

Offer our compilation services!
Apparently we're better at something than other people, namely the compilation of code and art! We should really capitalise on this.
Restrictions/Requirements:
  • Player must be Senshi
  • Player must have reached the Renaissance Era
  • Player must have at least three international trade routes with a major civilization
Costs:
  • A small amount of Gold
Rewards:
  • A unique building called "Compilation Project" may be constructed in the Capital (Production cost increases for every time this decision has been enacted)
  • Upon constructing the Compilation Project, enter a Golden Age and gain a burst of Culture (increases with the amount of International Trade Routes you have)

Spoiler :

Disappear for no reason!
You know, you could put off doing any civ related stuff today... I'm sure you'll get back into it...
Restrictions/Requirements:
  • Player must be Senshi
  • Player must have reached the Medieval Era
  • May only be enacted once per game
Costs:
  • Entire empire stagnates for three turns (on standard speed) (All yields (Culture, Food, Production, Science, Happiness, etc.) become +0 (So stuff like science and culture become zero, whereas stuff like Happiness become X, where X is your unhappiness)
Rewards:
  • Receive a free Technology
  • +1 Culture from International Trade Routes.

Let me know if I've forgotten anything!

Actually, I did really like the color combination as well. :P I'm going to have to see how the color combinations I've been trying out actually look in game...

My general rule of thumb is if it looks nice on paper chances are it'll be terrible in-game :P

So, since everyone's putting stuff in one place, I might as well join in. I have some ideas for Decisions, but I have no idea how feasible they are, so if someone could give me some feedback? That'd be great. =]

Spoiler Main Attributes :
Scapegrace League (Scapegrace)
Start Bias: Coastal
Capital: :c5capital: Dar-es-Salaam
UA: =]
When training or upgrading a Military Unit, have a chance to receive a random Unique version of that Unit from a Civilization not present in the game.1 +1 Science from Strategic Resources.
UU: Obligatory Lancer Replacement (replaces, unsurprisingly, Lancer)
(Wajinga, Lancer replacement from Tanzania)
UU: Thing Scape Just Googled (replaces Knight)
(Yan Lifida, presently unreleased Knight replacement from CL: Nigeria) (ask TP because it might or might not be finished yet)
---
[1]How this works: For example, say you train an Archer and Babylon is not in the game. There's a chance - say, 50% - to get a Bowman instead. If you upgrade that Archer/Bowman to a Composite Bowman and then onto a Crossbowman, and China is not in the game, you have a chance to get a Chu-Ko-Nu instead. Yes, sometimes you'll miss out on your own UUs, but this is exactly the kind of thing that would happen in a Civ ruled by me. "No, we're gonna do this thing! And now you're gonna do THIS! And that! And oooooh, shiny things!"

Spoiler Decisions :
D1: Design Civs That Can Be Made By Actual Earth Humans
Flavour Text: "Of course the UA can be coded like that. Have I ever let you down?" Wise words from a wise person, and a question to which the answer has too often been a resounding "No." It is time we put an end to the constant struggle with overdesigning units and an obsession with benefits only affecting the capital for some as-yet unknown reason and make a Civilization that can stand the bug tests of time. People on Steam will still say it's OP though. =]
Requirements:-
Player must have reached Renaissance Era
Player
Cost: 1000 Gold, 1 Magistrate
Effects:-
Specialists generate +2 points towards another randomly selected Great Person.
+1 Global Happiness from Great Tile Improvements and Landmarks.
Minor relations boost with all Civs.

===

D2: Actually Make A Mod Yourself
Flavour Text: Scape. Pls. Make a Civ yourself. Do the art assets. Do the coding. Do some bloody work. Just do the thing. Maybe it will give you some insight into how hard people work to make your tortuous fantasies a reality. Or you could just read some more about Africa again, that's also an option. =]
Requirements:-
Player must be in Renaissance Era
World Congress must have been founded
Player must have a Declaration of Friendship and Defensive Pact with a Civ with a larger number of Cities than them
Costs: 2000 Gold, 2000 Culture, 2 Magistrates
Rewards:-
Gain access to the Unique Units and Buildings of a Civilization not in the game.
Unique Units from Civilizations not in the Game gain a +15% Combat Bonus in enemy territory
+1 additional Science from Strategic Resources.

Spoiler Text Assets :
DoM Speech:-
May the holy Klein-bottle of your mods' collective code pour soothing lotion upon you, Grand High Research Witch Scapegrace, Queen of all below the Sahara. Your empire covers lush jungles, scorching deserts, fertile highlands, and the White Nile itself, but your influence began much earlier. The first post you ever made, when you were but a mere Noobgrace, was a design for Zimbabwe that managed to attract the attention of higher powers, and so you progressed. First your Philistia design was adopted by Leugi as a counterpoint to his storied Israel; then, your input and ability to stay up late at night staring at Google Books became cherished by Colonialist Legacies. Your Dawn of Man speeches too brought you fame, so it's rather a shame this one sucks.

O Scapegrace, o Grace of Scape, Africa calls! This cradle of Civilization, represented by like three Civs, needs someone to bring its history to the world at large! Will you stride forth at the head of a harlequin parade? Will the Dark Continent shine again with new units and new ideas? Can you build a Civilization that will stand the test of time?

Probably.

But no-one's insane enough to try and code it.

---

Of course, if anyone can think of better things, particularly events, feel free to throw them around. =]

MAJOR EDIT: Added... pretty much everything.

Eh, let's have a go at it. I should try and do the codework for this one.

I-uhm-hey! Sorry for the mess, I really do need to clean up this place. Name's GPuzzle - nice to meet you.

How's it going? I'm GPuzzle. Careful with the cat, and the pants, and the plethora of cables, and the equipment, and my instruments... Actually, it's better if you just wait there a few minutes.

Defeat:

Ah, great. You really screwed up this time, didn't you, G? Oh well. At least it wasn't a crash. Well played, and I'm out.

Our people are now not going out of their rooms and considering buying dakimakuras. I fear the world will succumb to your influence. Now, if you excuse me, my waifu's waiting for me.

Decisions:

Spoiler :

Comission the Works of an Artist

Sire, your computer kind of... uh... I don't understand what's going on with it (no one does) and that's kind of scaring people. We'll have to back it up.

- Option 1: Uh... crap. (Empire goes into Anarchy for 2 turns. When the Empire is not longer at Anarchy, gain a free Technology)

Spoiler :

Civ Released!

After many years of doing nothing, sire, you eventually released a Civ! This calls for a celebration!

- Option 1: Bring me my dakimakura! (Gain +20 Influence with all known City-States)

I've added a checklist of things each civ has. You don't have to provide everything for them, of course - I'll fill out what you don't provide, though usually to the neutral - but it's there if you want it.

Went ahead and made the Scapegracian icons.

EDIT: @#%$&! This forum apparently converts all PNGs to JPEGs. :p I'll upload to dropbox then...

I have absolutely no idea. The plan was to sacrifice a chicken to a nameless evil and hope they showed up after a while.

Worked with my girlfriend. =]
