Here is my plane! I created it awhile back when America Went to war with Saddam Hussien which is why it is red, white, and blue. Kinda Patriotic, right.

Download ICA

Can someone tell me how to get an Animations preview on here
EDIT: Never mind :D

I know it might not be that good, but heck i can't draw worth beans so i think that is a great achievement for me. I am better at teacting the methods i used to create not share my creations.

I know the Death animation needs a little help  so if someone wants to help me on that that would be fine.

Is this your first unit? Welcome to the unit creators club.

The unit has a few problems.

1. The unit is not centered correctly. The offset seems to be set too high. The tail typically hits the top of the frame. Compare the centering of other airplanes to get a feel for where your's should be located.

2. The colors are inconsistent. One side is red, the other is blue. If you want to go with a Red, White and Blue theme, consider using a texture. But, also remember CIV coloration typically take RED or BLUE. There is no clear pattern to what is civ colored and what is not (edit, I see you did not include civ colors or shadow colors in your palette). The cockpit is red, it should probably be some milder color to show the cockpit. I know Wyrmshadow likes this light blue there, and that looks pretty good. Also in general the colors are too bright and a bit washed out. I suspect you have some lighting issues to work out. Also, it would have been nice to have some shadows.

3. The animation is a bit rough. The missles seem to fly at different speeds and disappear too quickly. The animation of the plane in attack, default and fidget it the same. There is no engine smoke, fire or other sign of movement in the attack. The plane should move more, given that it was rendered not drawn. The death would be better with some fire, or at least smoke... not just polygons raining down.

4. The model is a bit rough as well. The size is too large for the frame size used. it is also too large for any unit scale I'm aware of. The model is not very detailed nor is it textured. The size and shape seem to change slightly with the different camera angles. This might be due in part to the overly bright lighting blowing out all the shadows.

5. Your zip is messed up too. It contains BMPs (storyboards), palette files, flicster files, unneeded (firaxis) sound files and so on.

6. Your ini needs work. If you want to use Firaxis sound files, you should not include them in your zip file; it is piracy to do so, and it bulks up the download without makeing the unit beter. You should path to them in your INI file. See my me262 if you don't know how to do this. Also there are type-os in your ini. In at least one place you refer to IDA as part of a name rather then ICA.

Don't get me wrong, I make mistakes too.

Thanks, your comments really helped :) Ill make these adjustments

I use it only for the americans. It is CIV specific.

When i render the unit and set it up in the middle of the frame, in CIV the unit looks like it is hovering along the ground, so the solution was to bring the animation up and have it offsentered since that really doesnot matter. After all, all you in game is the plane. If there is another solution to this please let me know

I'm not an expert in this area. I've released a total of 4 units, and I'm redoing the 4th one because it too had some issues.

Again, my best advise would be to dl some other planes and examine how other airplanes do it. You can position it in frame and still give the illusion of height. Shadows would be one of the ways to do this. Positioning the offset so the shadow is exactly centered and the airplane is slightly above it should work well with the isometric view. I've done a single plane, and I did it with C&P as I did with my Jeep. My spaceship is sort of a plane and it was rendered... but I worked to reduce shadows on it, not boost them.
