I experience stuttering speech from Sid during the intro and every time a new technology is discovered. I have update my drivers for SB Audigy to the latest available (EAX 4 support). I have experimented with different driver options and lower hardware acceleration, but to no avail.

Has anyone a solution?

The music is fine. It is only the speech.

DirectX9c installed.

Did you try setting the game audio options to "system settings" or to any of the other offered ones? It's helped me some wiht my Audigy 2 system.

Yes I did. But it didn't help. I think 'system setting' is the best, but it doesn't solve the speech problem.

Solved :) I have downloaded the new beta version of the driver. And it seems one has to select the new driver in the hardware configuration menu of Windows XP. I thought that just running the installation program would do it. But no.

So I am happy now! :)

All this stuttering and clicking sounds made me think of IRQ problems. So this is what I did: I disabled all unnecessary devices in the configuration management under sound&game devices (the standard game port, the game port on the sound card and the onboard modem device). This works! No stuttering speech. No music with clicks. Still CTDs during Wonder Movies however... :(

So maybe it is also a solution for other person's problems. The devices to turn off may differ per PC configuration.

PS: My sound card is Creative Labs SB Audigy.
