How does your god treat non-beleivers?

That's rather mean I must say.
I dont beleve that it is mean. But God has to be just and he does have to punish sinners. Beleve me, God does not want to punish sinners but sinners who did not repent would end up in hell by fault of their own.

@ sahkuhnder: Hey, there's nothing wrong with killing everyone. They were going to die anyways. What would be really cruel would be condemning most of the population of the earth to eternal suffering for the awful crime of being born in a community that didn't have access to the True Faith.

Also, 'smite' is such a cool word.

But didn't ending their lives prematurely extinguish any chance they may have had to be exposed to the true faith and to repent and convert? By drowning them before the time of their natural deaths didn't that just mean they now went straight to hell and eternal torment by no choice of their own?

That doesn't sound very loving to me. :(

Your posts first line may come in handy at my upcoming murder trial. :goodjob:

@ sahkuhnder: no no no, I mean it is okay for God to smite everyone. And they weren't all vile sinners automatically going to hell. (in fact, I think the Flood, while it really happened, was much smaller in scale than described and not just to kill everyone) Some of them were good, and those that weren'tight not have repented anyways. And they had a better chance of being exposed to the True Faith after they were dead and there weren't as many competing beliefs.

Well, this thread has been an entertaining read so far, and that's just counting the christian contributions.. a bit for everyone - the doomsayers, the lovers, the negativists, the positivists, the scifi fans, and the plain nutboxes. :)

Yeah, but isn't that a bit much, like beating someone over a dropped salad fork?

We're just in it for the postcount. ;)

No offense intended.

Well, they need to stick you somewhere ;)

I guess thats my view of hell. Its where they stick you if you chose not to have a relationship with God. Something that becomes hell all on its own.

Anyway, there is a large range of views on hell, so I am always open to different opinions.

Quite frankly, so what? This is a religious thread and has drawn both believers and non-believers who have contributed their viewpoints.

Despite your name calling this is the OT and I believe it being used according to its designated purpose. If you want to participate, wonderful, your opinion is of course welcome too. If you don't that's great too, nobody will think less of you by your silence.

What I don't understand is why you would bother to make a post just to mock and belittle other posters?

Well if the religous would stop bleeding all over the place then maybe those atheists wouldn't be circling.:)

I both agree and disgaree with every point on this thread. But then what does it matter anyway I have no chance of redemption unless I accept that the majority of the population of this planet is going to burn in a lake of fire at the end of time because some nutty old man who was also called St John the Mad towards the end told me so.;)

I assume it's blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, but I have no idea how I would go about committing that, so I should be safe for now. **Nobody tell me!** ;)

I can't say with any certainty exactly what happens to people after death; however, I know as a Catholic that God does not condemn people who honestly seek Him in their way, no matter their religion (or even their lack of it). Probably, the unjust and wilfully evil will burn, and rich or hedonistic people will likely be sternly chastised. However, I cannot and will not believe that hell is eternal. All souls will in the end be gathered up under the Son.

Yep, basically. Although if you believe in Our God, you get front row seats in heaven.

But aren't they all the Bible?? :crazyeye:

First, it's not "my god". He's everybody's God, whether they realize or acknowledge it. Second, the Bible is clear as a bell and Classical Hero already touched on the critical verses dealing with Christ being the only way to God.

However, the idea of humans saying with conviction, "You're gonna BURN" just scares me silly. Nobody truly knows the hearts of man other than God, so I would never point at even an unbeliever and say that he/she is not going to make it to Heaven. We should leave THAT particular judgement call to God and God alone.

Imagine how horrible? You get to Heaven, and go directly to the library, rubbing your hands in anticipation. Then you get there and find to your horror that its infinite shelves with nothing but bibles. Thats when you realise that youve been sent to Hell instead:eek:
